RockinRover Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 They're going to be in serious debt if they carry on spending money their own owners have admitted to not having in the past.
diziet2 Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Ben still has Jordan Rhodes on the brain. Old habits die hard. lol , Yes I did wonder. I thought I had posted the update in the Istanbul thread, but then went to look and could not see it so uploaded again. So this is where the original ended up. My apologies I must have been reading the thread when sorting out the video. Anyhow, Sell Rhodes for as much as you can as I look forward to the 15 or 25% cut Town will get. Nice one lads! Just don't sell to a divisional rival!

It'd be a bit of a drop in quality to switch targets from Negrado to Rhodes! At that sort of money I'm sure Sam will find someone proven at the top level. Personally I think Andy Carroll is stupid for not wanting to stay there permanently. He'll have a team built round him and will play a style of football that is perfect for him. He needs that to look good, if he ends up back at Liverpool he'll go back to being a laughing stock.
Clitherover Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Not sure why Joseph Merrick would go back to Wigan after they've been relegated. Surely managing a Premiership team is a better option and it's not like Wigan are a bigger club exactly. Strange rumour that one.

Unless Hull are planning to do what some clubs do (Blackpool etc) and just bank the money for one season, go back and down try and come back up the following season from a much stronger position. West Brom did it effectively, it can be a good way of producing a stable PL club. If that's what they're doing maybe Bruce isn't patient enough. He might feel he can get Wigan straight back up and be a PL manager in 12 months time, instead of a Championship one.

I think he does tbh. Allardyce will appreciate and utilise his considerable strengths to the max whilst Rogers will deplore his considerable weaknesses. If he wants to have any international career (and there is a place for him for certain matches) then he needs to play for Allardyce at WHU and right in front of the Wapping based press. Not only that but any self respecting, responsible agent will want him away from Newcastle and his demons. I believe all this messing around is to ensure that his stupid wage drops as little as possible and the way to do that is for Lpool to pay for it by dropping his transfer fee. They dont want him and I'm sure that is the biggest bargaining chip.
broadsword Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Who was it that he scored that header against for England? Best header I think I've ever seen. Unbelievable.
Majiball Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 If Carroll doesn't make his mind up soon he'll be left rotting in the ressies. Apparently wants 100K a week to sign for West Ham, madness.

windymiller7 Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Apparently (according to SSN Transfer Clockwatch) WHUM have now turned their attention to Helder Postiga from Real Zaragoza, so if they are looking at Rhodes he's not very high up on their list and probably not in the same value bracket from their side. I'd see this as good news but I have a feeling it's going to be a very long summer!

I don't think they'll have much chance of keeping Lukaku and they've already got some hard working strikers with good all round games but not a great scoring ratio in Long, Rosenberg and Fortune. I can see them liking the idea of adding a goalscorer to that list.
Lathund Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Had forgotten Rosenberg was even there. 25 games, 0 goals might be the reason I think the biggest impact he's ever had for the national team was being punched by Christian Poulsen in a Euro 2008 qualifier, eventually leading to Sweden being awarded the game.

Although I can see Jose using him as he's rather drogbaesq. What formation to WBA generally play 451?
Salgado Is A Hero Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Yea usually 4-5-1. Because Odemwingie would usually play from the right at the start of the season (then whoever in the 2nd half, probably Brunt or Gera), and Morrison would play off Long or Lukaku. Lukaku seems to have been a substitute mostly this year. He started 20 PL games apparently. And Long started 25. I think Jose said a day or two ago he was planning on keeping Lukaku. But he'll probably want first team football with the World Cup and Benteke to contend with. I can't really see a Newcastle, West Brom or Fulham buying Rhodes. Not to sit on the bench for most of the time.
LeChuck Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Rhodes would seem a decent replacement for Lukaku then, coming from the bench to either partner or replace Long once he has softened the defenders up a bit. I know it's not like-for-like but Lukaku is a rarity, they won't find another one like him. I'm sure Mourinho will want him at Chelsea next year. If Torres couldn't play well for Benitez then what chance has he got with Mourinho?
Clitherover Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 If Torres couldn't play well for Benitez then what chance has he got with Mourinho? You say that but he was Chelsea's top scorer last season with 23 goals.
LeChuck Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 You say that but he was Chelsea's top scorer last season with 23 goals. Mainly against sub-standard opposition in the cups though. 8 in 36 in the league is another poor return - he hasn't hit double figures for the past four seasons. He's finished.

Good shout , possibly Everton now too , they struggled for goals when Jelavic stopped scoring best we can hope for is a number of mid-range PL clubs come in for him and drive the price up

Stoke, Hull and Cardiff are the only prem teams I can see bidding for him. Sunderland have Wickham so I can't see that happening.
MrT Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Why would we want to drive up the price anyway?, the Venky's won't give GB the money to spend. He really needs to get his head down for another season, and who knows if his all round game improves and he keeps up his goal ratio then he may have a bigger choice of clubs to choose from, poor of him if he jumps ship after one season.
Stuart Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 best we can hope for is a number of mid-range PL clubs come in for him and drive the price up Best we can hope for is that he stays...!
saxo1man30 Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 rhodes last statement suggested he`ll stay, that`s all we have to go off for now..
