Hull is now rumored to have turned their attention to Burnely's Austin instead of Rhodes. I haven't seen him play enough to have an opinion, would anyone say that he's got more dimesions to his game than Rhodes? He'd certainly be cheaper...

Every time I've seen him he's looked a threat. He does a lot of work for the team. If Rhodes isn't scoring he's pretty anonymous so I can see why they might see Austin as a better fit.

1 - It takes 2 seconds to score a goal. You know he has a point.

3 - Why aren't people allowed to criticise? The thing is, I wholeheartedly agree with your 4th point. In fact I had that view when we were in the Prem the last time. As soon as a player is criticised by more than one person, it turns into "oh look, there's a new scapegoat in the team". This is not just directed at you but there's obviously a reason they're being criticised.

These days Pedersen is the only one I'll really slag off, I cut a lot of slack to young players. But I criticise Peds for his lack of effort and contribution. Besides covering a full back which I'm sure another player could do themselves, for less wages, and contribute effectively going forward, barring the odd set piece or winning a flick on. But apparently, I don't have justification for that, I'm obviously just going with the group, and am unable to think for myself.

People are just highlighting Rhodes' weaknesses. There's nothing wrong with that imo. We can still talk about it. Moaning that we could do better and slagging him off big time is wrong, because like you say, if he could hold the ball up a lot better, or had pace, he'd be in the prem.

I know you're post is not really directed at LeChuck but I'm struggling to see an issue with what he is saying. Austin does more work (not too much imo) outside of the box and therefore Hull would probably want him. It's a fair comment, and one made without rose tinted glasses.

Well I'm going to say thank you to Mercer on this one. I'm quick enough to give him stick when he gets it wrong so it's only fair that I give him credit this time. I had £10 on at 6/1 which paid for a trip to Cadbury World with my wife and daughter yesterday (well it will when skybet finally pay out!!!)

It's not just that though.

The weaknesses are talked about like they outweigh his strengths.

Without Rhodes last year we would have been relegated. He more than made his contribution to the team.

We need others to make an equivalent contribution.

Plops has gone quiet, funny that, it was only 2 weeks ago he was demanding an apology from all those that doubted his 'insider information', he was saying that it was a dead cert Rhodes was going to hull,

Now Rhodes could still full well leave(as could any member of the squad if the price is right + a few extra ££££) but nothing is shaking at the minute by the looks of things, regardless of plops saying that everything had pretty much been agreed in principle by all parties.

I like Rhodes. I'm just saying I can see why a club like Hull would prefer Austin.

An all round game is important. He wouldn't be behind Kenny Miller and Leigh Griffiths for Scotland if goalscoring was the be all and end all.

It's only because I like Rhodes and despise Kenny Miller that I'm gonna have to correct you, as it's the second time you've mentioned it.

Kenny Miller is no longer a Scottish international thank the lord almighty.

This isn't point scoring, but I felt compelled to correct you as a half decent manager wouldn't have Miller in the squad.

You're right though, he's currently behind Leigh Griffiths, and a fully fit Steven Fletcher.

I can't see that changing any time soon.

No shame in behind Griffiths in the Scotland pecking order. It would be strange measure of deficiencies in Rhodes' game to suggest that it somehow to his detriment to be behind Griffiths at the moment. He was sensational for Hibs last season.
