I'd also say Yakubu was

That first goal he scored for us I can't think of many other strikers we've had in recent memory that would have the guile to put that away the way he did he also scored a few more belters and rarely missed, the song feed the yak and he will score was rarely wrong in his time here

If Rhodes can add to his game the qualities the Yak had at leading the line there will be no stopping him

He'd better get pumping those irons then!

There's some finishing in that montage that hasn't been seen at Ewood in the last 16 years before JR signed.

Rather fullsome praise given that in that time we've seen the likes of Cole, BennyMac, Yorke, Bellamy, Jansen and RSC all scoring prolifically to varying degrees in a proper grown up league.

All playing with miles better players around them. It's all relative.

There's no way Yorke, RSC or Jansen were as good finishers. Bellamy had a brilliant all round game. Ditto McCarthy. The only one close in terms of being in the right place at the right time and constantly being THAT guy, was Cole, and he was nowhere near his prime with us.

Some quality, quality finishing there. The Bristol City (2nd), Derby and Peterborough(?) ones stood out for me. He's just so calm, and natural in front of goal which you cannot teach.

Yea those, the Burnley diving header and Barnsley? when he nutmegs the player first. And the Palace one when he lobbed the keeper, they're my favourites.

A couple of lovely assists from Rochina as well in the P'boro and H'field games.

Yeah, it is all relative, but like Theno has said, the quality of opposition has got to be taken into account too. Look at the teams being mentioned as favourite goals by people - Barnsley, Bristol City, Peterborough, Huddersfield - say it all really.

There is no way after one season in the Champ you can claim JR has proved to be a better finisher than Roque was in his purple patch for us, IMO.

Taking into account there time with us Yakubu simply has to be up there, 17 goals in 30 games in a superior league, very rarely missed given the chance and just knew where to be in the box

Rhodes goal v palace and Yakubu's v arsenal are similar in that most strikers wouldn't even have the wherewithal to notice the chance was on

We did not see the best of Yorke by a long way but he is still in 14th place in the all time Prem scoring chart. Do you think Jordan Rhodes will ever be able to top him in that chart?

Once again, you've ignored the original point for the sake of an argument. T4E stated 'best finishing we've had at Ewood.' We didn't see anything from Yorke, so the fact he was a good finisher prior to him joining us has no relevance what so ever.

Live in the past if you like. The fact is we have got the best finisher in the division on our books. He might well dance off to some two bob low end PL side or he might grace us with another season here. Either way, i'm glad we got to see him for a wee while. He might not offer much in terms of physicality, but he's not lazy and goal scorers will always find a loving home. This lad adds a touch of quality to our squad and on top of that he has always conducted himself as a model pro. Always put the club first and that takes some doing in the midst of a kean storm. I'd love to see him stay another year but i wouldn't begrudge him a crack at the PL and i reckon he'd make a fist of it at the right club.

2nd goal vs. Peterborough exudes class.

Calm, poised and gentle with the ball. Few screamers in the montage too. I <3 him!

I haven't yet had the pleasure of seeing him live but that was the one for me that had the stamp of natural striker all over it. He seemed to wait for the keeper to move a fraction to his right and "passed" into the gap that was exposed. I reckon he's one of those rare strikers who can exude calm because of an uncanny knack of not snatching at chances by slowing the action down in his head.

I doubt he'll be with us long and think he'll score goals at the top level.

It shouldn't be underestimated how important it is to have a player who is calm and confident from the spot. Jordan always seems extremely comfortable taking penalties.

Going nowhere then. Just like the owners .

You are getting as bad as Chadders for self denial.

Said at the end of May that I thought it was certain Rhodes would leave and I got verbally beaten-up for it.

See no reason to change my mind.
