LeChuck Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Why would Sunderland want Rhodes when they have Fletcher? He's nowhere near good enough for Newcastle. Only possible fit for me is West Brom to replace Lukaku.

Rover_Shaun Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Fletchet is pants and it is the north east clubs that are not worthy of Rhodes
LeChuck Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Fletchet is pants and it is the north east clubs that are not worthy of Rhodes Fletcher's record in the PL speaks for itself. He was doing very well for Sunderland before injury cut his season short.
thenodrog Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Fletcher's record in the PL speaks for itself. He was doing very well for Sunderland before injury cut his season short. I'd certainly do a straight swap of Fletcher for Rhodes in our situation ..... although they could play together if Rhodes had the ability and inclination to drop deeper and play behind and off Fletcher...... I'm not entirely sure that he has though.
T.J.Newton Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Im surprised top 4/5 clubs are looking to take apunt on him, 10mill is small change for them, they regularly spend/waste more money on foreign inexperienced flops.
Gally Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Celtic couldn't afford him I don't think. Newcastle and Sunderland maybe. I think Celtic probably could afford him if they really wanted him, especially if they sell Hooper. I'd be more surprised if Rhodes wanted to go there if he has the option of playing in the Prem.
LeChuck Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Im surprised top 4/5 clubs are looking to take apunt on him Why aren't they looking at Glenn Murray or Charlie Austin*? Don't build Rhodes into something he's not! *or even Leigh Griffiths...
EgyptianPete Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Why aren't they looking at Glenn Murray or Charlie Austin*? Don't build Rhodes into something he's not! *or even Leigh Griffiths... Good call
Andy Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 To be fair though, Jordan has been prolific for a good 3/4 seasons now, with one season ending with over 40 goals. Murray and Austin, to my admittedly ignorant knowledge, have only had one good season each. Griffiths did it in the Scotland league. I'm 30 and a goalkeeper, but would score 30 goals in the Scottish top league.
T.J.Newton Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 I rhink rhodes has shown so far that he has a bit more class than those players and he also seems to have a much better mentality. Im not saying hes top top(drogba, rooney,etc..) forward, but i do think he will easily score you a good 15-20 goaps a season so would make a great squad player for any team, my other point was like i said those top teams regularly spend millions buying young foreign forwards that have no english football experiance and little experiance ofany kind and usual go onto to be flops, it would be go to see them take a punt on a young British player
Steve Kean's Hypnotoad Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Why aren't they looking at Glenn Murray or Charlie Austin*? Don't build Rhodes into something he's not! *or even Leigh Griffiths... On the basis of our game against Palace at Ewood, Rhodes is better than Murray by a distance. Both had a chance in exactly the same position, Rhodes' was running at full pelt onto a ball that was curling away from goal with a defender breathing down his neck, scored. Murray's was with time and the ball at his feet, missed. Plus Murray had the best player in the league supplying him with ammo and only finished 1 goal ahead of Rhodes.
OJRovers Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 As I said to the Huddersfield fan Ben, there are very few players able to make the jump up to Premiership level from the Championship or below, I don't think Rhodes is good enough yet in his all-round play to make much of an impact. He does have lots of natural ability and is only young, so might develop into a better allround player, For his career it would be best to stay playing every game in the Championship than getting a handful of starts in the Premiership. There are plenty of examples who have flopped in the PL and their careers tailed off.

Majiball Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 I was meaning that aye you'd score 30, but as they'd be own goals it doesn't count.
Ricky Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 Austin has had more than just one good season to be fair.
magicalmortensleftpeg Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 Better players than Rhodes have failed in the premier league and for the money we'd be wanting, you could get a proven premiership striker for the same price. Why spend that kind of cash on an unproven player? For £5/6m then he'd be worth the gamble, but not £10m plus.
The Rover of Finland Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Totally agree but clubs do lose sensible thinking in the final hours of the transfer window. Rhodes has five league matches time to score and if he will you never know.
saxo1man30 Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 notice rhodes is the model for our latest kit. surely a sign he`s staying at the club?
Batman. Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 notice rhodes is the model for our latest kit. surely a sign he`s staying at the club? Shearer did the same. No relevance whatsoever.
LeChuck Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 notice rhodes is the model for our latest kit. surely a sign he`s staying at the club? So if Newcastle come in with £12 million bid tomorrow...."No can do sorry, we've done our kit photoshoot already" It doesn't mean anything really, it all depends on what other clubs do from now until the end of the window. If any PL club comes in for him at around £10 million then he's gone imo.
saxo1man30 Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Shearer did the same. No relevance whatsoever. well charlie austin ain`t modelling any of their gear and their fans feel it`s highly significant, but of course you know better than everyone else, don`t you? That doesn't work though, it's not the same thing. An absence of Austin might mean they're preparing to sell him. That doesn't mean the reverse of a player appearing in photos means he's staying is true.
saxo1man30 Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 if he was unsure of his future, he would have suggested someone else feature in the shoot..
