They've just lost the high earning Davies off the wage bill, they have 16 mill parachute like us and they have an owner who may allow it to happen. A 4 mill down payment with the rest in instalments will be simple enough for them i would think

Very nice of Nicko to try and unsettle Rhodes on behalf of his mate Freedman. However:-

1) i'm sure everybody in the Championship wants Rhodes so it's hardly news.

2) We signed him for £8m, he's scored 30 goals in the division above and the price has only gone to £9m? I doubt we'd sell for that if Bowyers 'huge offer' quote is correct.

3) Why would Rhodes go to Bolton, we all know he never moves to divisional rivals.

4) If he does want to go to Bolton then he's a obviously a d*ck.

He certainly seems to have lost a Rovers contact since Venkys took over and I wonder if whoever his contact was became a victim of the Venky's putsch?

He seems to have become more nationally prominent recently with his name linked with some biggish stories. I think he's gone from being a niche journo with some credibity to being a bog standard red top hack.

Too many are taking what they read in the papers at face value. I doubt Bolton will be in the running but Alan Nixons a red top hack and a wum to boot, he plays the public like a fiddle and especially those who like to imbibe sensationalism containing the merest hint of truth with their morning cuppa. However he is not thick and usually does things for a reason (frequently hidden or obscure) which will invariably be of benefit to himself. I think we can rest assured there will be one.

Think about the logic. Rovers' finances highly likely to be critical, can't shift the big earners, Rhodes would almost guarantee Bolton promotion. Not as far fetched as some would think. Would Rhodes go to Bolton, well if it's a case of Rovers v Bolton, with no other options, then I think the answer would be yes. Echoes of Rovers / Spurs / Lineker to be so dismissive of this.

Nothing should surprise you in football and, IMO, as I said weeks ago, one way or another, Rhodes will not be with Rovers come the start of the season.

Forget about the Murphy bid and thinking Rovers have money to spend, I think you will find come 31 August that net net transfers will be at least £10million+ positive.

I think folk are far too harsh on Nicko.

Sometimes he isn't right but I think football is the most unpredictable 'industry' there is - you only need to look at Venky's decision making.

Everyone likes reading the speculation in the papers and if nothing was reported until it actually happened, football life would be a lot more dull.

Apparently there's still £6million outstanding to Huddersfield, Bolton took a flyer offering to take over the remaining liability and contractual obligations to Rhodes and have been rebuked by Rovers.

Things might change and Rhodes may ultimately go but I wager not to Bolton. In fact Mercer I'll give you 2-1 !

I have never claimed to be 'ITK'.

All I do is share what I hear in the course of my work and when I am out and about.

It's that simple and it's a pity that I have to keep saying it.
