Guest Norbert Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Don't Forest have very rich owners? Maybe a step up as they'll push for promotion. Not a big step up though.

Josh Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Forest wouldn't stump up the required cash for Austin, which is probably half of what Rhodes would go for
West Yorks Rover Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 They've got Hooters, we've got ermmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Stage Door? FFS he's as good as gone. Is'nt the Old 'Top Hat Club' still open.
roverandout Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 hull have made a final take or leave it offer of 4 million for Austin, cant see them affording Rhodes then
EgyptianPete Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 hull have made a final take or leave it offer of 4 million for Austin, cant see them affording Rhodes then Maybe a bit off topic but Nicko Nixon was still banging on late last night on his twitter account that JR would be leaving, saying something like we can't afford the next payment to Huddersfield and we have to get him off the wage bill, all he does is talk Freedman up and is deffo a Bolton lover, odious man.
Gally Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Maybe a bit off topic but Nicko Nixon was still banging on late last night on his twitter account that JR would be leaving, saying something like we can't afford the next payment to Huddersfield and we have to get him off the wage bill, all he does is talk Freedman up and is deffo a Bolton lover, odious man. The thing which makes me relaxed about the whole thing is that he obviously hasn't got a clue about how Rovers would react to a bid. He knows that Bolton are interested, no surprises there. He knows that we're basically skint, no shocks there either. But every time someone tries to corner him about how likely it is that Rhodes will go he avoids answering and just refers back to either a) Bolton would like him or our wage bill is high.
Rover_Shaun Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Can the topic title please be changed to something like "Jordan Rhodes - Will he stay or go?" as the Hull link hasn't developed beyond a post office rumour
rovers_rob Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Maybe a bit off topic but Nicko Nixon was still banging on late last night on his twitter account that JR would be leaving, saying something like we can't afford the next payment to Huddersfield and we have to get him off the wage bill, all he does is talk Freedman up and is deffo a Bolton lover, odious man. He is getting on my nerves. He basically had a conversation with his mate "wee Dougie" where he probably said he would want to sign Rhodes (who wouldn't) but knowing the chances of it happening are zero. Alan "nicko" Nixon then thought he would do his mate a favour and write an article about how it would be possible for Bolton to buy him. He then spends the next week or so banging on about "how Bolton need to do this now before we sell Dann". Its almost like he has shown Bolton how the deal can be done so go and do it.... why wait.... do it now....etc... blah...blah.. coyley...dougie... Pathetic.
rovers11 Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 I think Rhodes has come out and said he's staying because (a) he's happy at Rovers and more crucially (b ) he knows nobody will pay 12m for him. The fact remains, however, if a prem club does surprise us and come in with a £12m offer then he'll be gone. Don't see it happening though. Oh, and Bolton fans...please tell me you don't seriously think he'll join you?! Not gonna happen.

The chancer that is Nixon is at it again. How on earth can he know that Rovers can't afford the next installment? Any contacts he had at Ewood/Brockhall have long since left the room and his ramblings with his poison pen seem to be full of antagonistic and bitter nonsense.

chaddyrovers Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Nixon can keep banging about Us not being afford next payment for Rhodes. but then says Bolton Owner will put money in to sign Rhodes. so why cant Venkys do that to pay next installment of Rhodes transfer fee. he never answer that question tho. just leave Nicko to it. Rhodes has said that he very happy at Ewood Park and happy to play for Rovers. Nicko didnt get the message then. Bowyer has come out and said he not for sale!!!
rovers11 Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Nixon is a journalist, he has to milk a story for all it's worth and get as many column inches out of it as possible. That's what journalists do. He knows Rhodes isn't going to Bolton and never was.

He knows Rhodes isn't going to Bolton and never was.Is Nixon is putting it out for his agent friends in order to gain some interest in Rhodes though or paving the way for what the agents intentions are regarding Jordan .
Reedy You're A Star Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Or a final @#/? stirring, @#/? you to the Rovers fans from his now departed "source". Either way, we know and he knows that it's never gonna happen.
rovers11 Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 I don't know what his intentions are but he certainly seems pro Bolton and anti Rovers these days. Remember he gets paid for writing articles, he knows Rhodes won't go to Bolton but writing the story they are interested in him and may make a bid has given him easy column inches to fill. Of course they are interested, any club would be but it ain't gonna happen. It's a journo's trick, create a story out of a non-story and try and get a couple of articles out of it.
yoda Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Is'nt the Old 'Top Hat Club' still open. I think you will find the old "flying bottle" as it was know as by the regulars, is now part car park and Barbara Castle way

He knows Rhodes isn't going to Bolton and never was. He is also a lazy, vindictive and spiteful individual. Patrick Barclay once mocked him by saying that on occasion he hits the bullseye but mostly he hits the outer rim.
beanie Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Can the topic title please be changed to something like "Jordan Rhodes - Will he stay or go?" as the Hull link hasn't developed beyond a post office rumour Think you will find it was an assistant manager in a pub rumour not a post office one.

His wifes handbag sales must have took a dive and the bills are still hitting the door mat
The Rover of Finland Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Think it was his daughter but does it really matter. Freedman is his new golden boy so expect him get sacked.
AJW Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 I thought Bolton had more Debts than us ... wasnt it about £90m at one point
whiteinpeace Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 I thought Bolton had more Debts than us ... wasnt it about £90m at one point We have debt in the same way Chelsea do. All debt is to the owner and is never going to be paid back. Interest on the "loan" goes through the books but isn't actually paid. He has apparently indicated he is ready to spend more money having seen the wage bill slashed over the past few seasons and we now comply with forthcoming financial fair play rules. The media mis-report our financial position everytime. Mind our own fans on the whole struggle to understand it. Clearly we aren't likely to get Rhodes, but Eddie can afford to buy him, if he chooses.
