If we were offered £12 million for him, it would be difficult for the club to turn it down, especially if the finances are as bad as they reportedly are. The problem would be replacing him and how much Bowyer would get of the fee to bring someone else in. Rhodes guarantees us goals at this level and if we want to get back up next season (highly unlikely I know), we will need someone who can score the amount of goals that he does.

Hopefully it won't come to it, but if we got £12m, and GB was given most of it, the first place to be looking is at Austin. Should only cost about half of what we would get for Rhodes and has shown he can almost guarantee goals at this level too. Would they sell to us though? After him though, I can't think of anyone we could realistically get who could replace Rhodes' goals.

Who's gonna volunteer to lock JR away in their basement until September?

I'll take him on a world tour, well France and south Korea, with me, returning on Sept 1st. You'll have to do without him for the first few matches, but I'll take him to watch Lorient and see if he can train with Mr gourcuff who's not a bad manager to keep up his fitness levels. Probably the best offer you'll get

I think the thread title should now be changed to "everyone wants Jordan Rhodes", hope he isn't sold on. Despite reservations about his all round game he knows where the net is and could have a fantastic season in a settled side under a consistent manager.

This may or may not be at all relevant so make of it what you will.

Yesterday i was travelling from Kings Cross back up to Newcastle and as is quite usual on a Friday, found myself in the midst of a stag party heading up to the North East for the weekend. In this case, they turned out to be a great bunch of lads from South London so was enjoying some good crack with them when the subject of football came up and as soon as I mentioned the Rovers, the two guys opposite me laughed and said that's Jordan Rhodes future brother in law sat over there.

Turned out the guy was one of the quieter ones amongst them and seemed far from being a bullshitter, he basically said Jordan was very happy at the Rovers, stressing the fact he felt it was still very much a Premier League set up in terms of facilities etc, he thought the Venkys were basically decent people and perhaps most importantly of all his girlfriend is contracted tp a major bank on Merseyside for the next 12 months.

He went on to say that Jordan was a really good guy, who shunned the limelight and was a model professional who didn't touch alcohol.

As you'll see I post very rarely but just feeding back what I've heard, hopefully he's the sort of lad who's head is not easily turned and he has a valid reason to stay in the North West.

Which probably means he'll be sold next week

A premier league club coming in for Rhodes is my big worry. If they do make an enquiry, I can see Fulham possibly also coming in for him.

I think that providing someone bids £10 million plus then it''ll be difficult as surely Rhodes will want the chance to have a crack at the PL, especially if established clubs such as Swansea and Fulham want him.

Indeed so. We know all too well that it's dog eat dog and we didn't mind one bit when Jack and Kenny were plundering the financially weaker clubs did we? Le Saux from Chelsea, Hendry from Man City etc hardly seems believable now does it?

To sit on the bench Kamy? A season too early for him I think, he's not ready to start in the Premier League IMO. May as well stop here and see how we get on.

Can you pass some of those straws you are clutching around Bob?

Similar to what ive heard about the lad from someone who's close to a good friend of Rhodes. He's a very sensible straight kind of guy but as we all know football is a crazy world although ANY club will have to go some way to match the contract he's on at Ewood. Don't forget Venkys have upset a few people recently so i'd expect plenty of muck raking in the press.

Certainly one of the best ITK posts on here

Because of it saying what most of us would like to hear? We all know that things happen in football when money is involved - a big enough offer and we'll probably be shoving him out of the door regardless of how happy he is. I hope it's true, that he stays and that he carries on enjoying football with us and scoring goals in the blue and white halves. However, there's always a chance he'll go and we all know that.

This ties in with what I posted around 8 weeks ago. Rhodes and his partner are settled at the Rovers and he has no intention of leaving. He has bought a new home in Cheshire and is renovating / improving it as we speak. Obviously there are no guarantees, but the signs from the player remain positive.

Everton is the club that keeps coming to there front of my mind when I think of potential clubs in the prem that he could realistically get interest from, I think he'd suit Martinez's style of play and could just be within their financial reach(around 10 mill) if there looking to splash out a bit and I think Rhodes would understandably jump at the chance.

Comp for Moyes and fees for Baines and poss Fellaini should free up some spending money I'd imagine.

They didn't get any compensation for Moyes as he was out of contract and I would be surprised if they sold both of those players as well.
