Everton did for the massive flop the russian guy with the long name who was as much use as a back to work interview on merseyside..Everton are skint big time but to be fair Kenwright stopped Everton falling into the hands of an asian consortium back in 2006 when approached by a certain agent..ring any bells ??? by borrowing to buy more shares and refusing to sell..fair play to him !

Moyes has spent big on a few occasions, only for the players to flop(Moyes biggest weaknes imo)

and id imagine Martinez would ideally like a couple of marquee type signings to put his stamp on things.

yea your right sorry, ive just had a quick look back at their transfer history over last 10years, its not as bad as I for some reason perceived it to be, its is pretty even really, like most clubs-some successes, some failures(relative to the transfer fee paid)

I'd say when Moyes has spent big he's done well enough. He's made a couple of cock ups but generally speaking he's got a fairly solid transfer record. Jelavic is still so-so though IMO, had half a decent season but has really struggled recently.

Can see Everton declining under Martinez tbh. I think he's overrated and given an easy ride because of his "nice guy" image. His style of football will be difficult to impose on a squad used to Moyes' way of playing. I could be wrong and Martinez could continue the success of Moyes, but I expect Everton to finish around 14th/15th this season.

But Moyes success in the market was very much down to their superb scouting team. Moyes cannot take that data it's Evertons, do united have similiar or will Moyes have to start over?

I imagine one of the biggest clubs in the world will have an adequate scouting system for Moyes to utilise, yes. Didn't Moysey scout off FM anyway? He just needs to grab a copy of FM13 and get going :P

LOL, there's a bit more to it than that. ;)

But thanks to FM I've known about Neymar for 5-6 years now!

And Cherno Samba?

At least the lads an FM legend, few can say that!!!!

They do a lot of video analysis and construct a database of stat's on thousands of players attributes etc etc. You can get video of almost any player from TV programs anywhere in the world, it's all on TV, so all stored on record. Manager then asks for a player wth specififc attributes (most play to a certain system so know what they want in X player) The scouting team then hand over some names and they go watch them a lot. A scout can watch one game TV records can show you pretty much every players, every game. It clearly works and we should do the same, cheap as chips and what a difference it could make to our transfer success rate.

Isnt that the problem with Rovers in that its agent led so theres no need for scouts at first team level.

I know he moved to Merseyside earlier this year. With Liverpool about to sell Suarez wonder if they'll consider him?

Nah, but I could see Everton taking a punt on him.

Then we need to keep him a thousand miles away from that damn "friendly"!

Personally I wouldn't let him go for less than £25 million he is a superstar in the making he was feeding off scraps last year and still managed 28 league goals, if he had the proper service he could easily bang in 40 plus goals, why would we be stupid enough to let him go especially after he has stated that he is happy here. Give him a few years and he will be all time top scorer he is that good!!!!

No way Suarez is going to Everton  about as much chance as him ending up here.

If he goes it'll be to a European team, probably a big one.

Källström, two league titles with Lyon and 98 caps and 4 international tournaments for Sweden, isn't quite in the same bracket as Cherno Samba. Even if he was very much ovverrated in CM back in the day.

Point being that while Samba was a wonderkid who didn't go on to have any career at all, Kongo-Kim went on to have a rather successful one. Wasn't all that unknown at the time IRL either, was kind of surprised when he went to first DIF and then Rennes.

Although this is starting to look less and less like the Jordan Rhodes thread :D

anyone remember mark kerr on champ manager? went on to become one of the greats, could sign him for 400,000 from Falkirk and he would be worth 5 million after a few seasons

Fair enough Lathund I see where you coming from, I'd never heard of him in 2000/01 and yeah Mark Kerr was quality!!!!

As for Rhodes, I don't know if this is blind optimism but I think we'll get one more season from him, can't see anyone paying 12m +
