Timing issue is all, BaWR.

We had to do the loan deal because we didn't get a deal done in time - if memory serves.

Probably a faulty fax machine as usual. Known these days as a "fax pas".

I thought DJ's transfer fell through then we signed him on loan with a view to purchase (then for some reason decided to buy him, rather like test driving a car for 6 months and still buying it after keeping the AA busy)

I think we had no choice but to complete the deal, hence the delay, (whilst we tried to wriggle out of it), and the subsequent rumours that he's already for sale.

Noblot have just bought Beckford anyway. Nixon is full of it. Even Freedman said himself- don't believe what some journalist says.

He's doing to Bolton fans now, what he did to our fans for years on here. Tragic it is.

He had a brief spell of doing it with Burnley as well until he practically turned on them whilst championing Coyle for Bolton, doubt he goes anywere near the Turd these days :) He'll be playing Pied Piper to Wigan fans as well now . He's nowt but an agents stooge, reading his stuff on twitter he double edges everything, THIS might happen but it depends on THAT and THAT will happen providing THIS doesn't.

Nixon's theory is we will run into cash flow problems at the end of August having failed to get rid of enough players and so will need to sell a player to conform with FFP.

Eddie Davies then may or may not then stump up the cash to make an offer for Rhodes - which will be at a reduced price as we need the money. For a club that doesn't want to pay £1.5 million for their player of the season last year it seems a slight falsehood.

Don't believe this.

Plus how come we need to conform to FFP but Bolton don't?

So how come he thinks we have to conform to FFP rules but Notlob don't?

The theory would be they are coping better with FFP than we are - two £8 million losses are permitted for the next two years which they may achieve(without knowing the ins and outs of Bolton's wage costs). We are on course for £25 million losses meaning a transfer ban.

I don't think it's going to happen, but it does have a logic to it.

Bolton managed to get lots of their high earners off the wage bill when they were first relegated, unlike us, and they've let K. Davies go this summer too. If their owner is willing to take a one off hit for a transfer fee (which he could well see back should Rhodes fire them to promotion) then they'll probably be able to accommodate his wages.

Having said all that, it seems to depend on us absolutely having to sell him to avoid disaster. Seems to me that if this is true then we wouldn't be looking to spend the cash from the Olsson sale for a start, and that we'd have heard a lot more rumblings of a move if we were actively looking to sell him to the highest bidder.

What's even more tragic is Bolton fans are lapping it up judging by their forums.

The fact that it is Bolton fans and not some other club means I don't really give a flying one and I hope he takes them for a ride.

Maybe that's the Venkys plan, sign loads of freebies and cheapies now then when they get a tranrfer ban that is their excuse to offload everyone worth anything to reduce the debts and we are left will the cheap waged shadow squad that's now being assembled. Of course promotion would solve this but it looks like for once a plan B is well in place for the inevitable. If we are struggling by Xmas the plan could come into place earlier.

If we were going to sell him on the cheap I'm sure better teams would take him

Correct, if it was just a matter of paying a few mill and taking over the remainder of the instalments to Huddersfield there would be a que for his service i would think.

I think an arguement could be made for mitigating circumstances as if rovers can't find buyers, then it's impossible for them to comply at all with FFP. You can't just flip from making a 25M pound loss one year to 8M the next as we require, unless we break/pay-of contracts. But each on of these will cost money added to the out column, we can't prevent this. It's a better one than rouge directors anyway.

It's almost a vicous circle unless we can find someone who can do this and swiftly. Everyday day we don't have a dude doing this is one less day to get it sorted and just imagine of that means a forced sale as JR would be the lamd choosen as he'll return the biggest fee. We need to raise serious cash (if the arabs can use a mate/subsidory company then stump up Venky's through semi dodgy sponsorship, but precedented (I assume it's OK)) and only Olsson has left for money. Gomes, Murphy will have gotten serious cash to depart (inexperienced dude doing this we haven't shifted many of our 45 strong first team. But both will have cost money to leave, I wouldn't go early for less than 50% so it could just balance itself out, but will never be a huge saving towards FFP compliance.

Exactly my point and when you ask Nixon this question, he never answer the question. wonder why???

last year Nixon claimed that Rovers wasn't interest in buying Rhodes when other ITK's said we were interest in him and defo going to sign him at all cost.

I still don't think Rhodes will be sold this summer.

Rhodes has said he's happy at Rovers. http://www1.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/teams/blackburn-rovers/8808760/rhodes-happy-at-blackburn

Bowyer has said Rhodes is happy at Rovers and 'Not for Sale' http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/10467561.Striker_Jordan_Rhodes__not_for_sale__says_Blackburn_Rovers_manager_Gary_Bowyer/

Freedman says he not looking to sign Rhodes http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11672/8803896/Transfer-news-Bolton-will-not-be-bidding-for-Blackburn-s-Jordan-Rhodes

so why does Nixon keeping posting these Rhodes to Bolton stories???

I'm sure Bolton would love Rhodes given his record last year. They'll see him as massively increasing the odds on them going up as it looks to be a tugher league this year. Nixon will get the stories printed to keep his mates at Bolton happy and then be fed their scoops over time. You scratch my back I'll scratch yours.

I can't believe it's coming from Rhodes or his agent given our pursuit of him.

Think Nixon needs to realise that Rhodes is going nowhere near Bolton Wanderers.

Rhodes has said he's happy at Rovers and Bowyer has said the same and he's not for sale.

Expect Rhodes to be playing today against Rochdale tomorrow

Nixon probably doesn't care about that he'll most likely only care about maintaining his contacts.

I bloody hope he's not for sale. Fingers crossed.

Hopefully 3-4 goals as well but Rochdale under Hilly always used to be strong. A performance like against a decent league two team would boost things for the new season.

Who cares what Nixon writes? If Rhodes does go to Bolton the last thing I'll care about is whether Nixon saw it coming or not.

Bolton had a better season than us last season but putting that to one side there is very little difference between the clubs. His move from Huddersfield to Rovers was a (marginal) step up in terms of club size and expectation but going from Rovers to Bolton would just be a move for the sake of moving.

Frankly, if Rhodes wants to go to Bolton then I'll be judging him more than anyone else and if Bolton are willing to throw £12m plus at a Championship striker then we should take it without asking too many questions. Rhodes is very good but he's not yet a premiership striker.

If he moves to the Premier League in this window then I have no problem with that. Moving from Rovers to Bolton however is a pointless move for all concerned. Bolton could buy half a decent team with the money it'd cost to buy Rhodes, Rhodes would be moving to another average Championship outfit and we'd lose a decent striker. Doesn't make much sense to me.

It would also mean one club less to worry about in the league from Notlobs point of view, you know where the transfer money would go

How many times at how many clubs, many larger clubs than ours, have you heard that said and then the player(s) leave?

We will only know on September 1st until then anything can happen
