Kamy100 Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Come on guys, let's stop the bitching. If Mercerman or anyone else annoys just put them on ignore. This constant bickering is ruining threads on this messageboard. As for Leon Best, I posted over the weekend that I could see him leaving. He is not happy about being a substitute and with the current cost cutting, he is too much money to be a unused substitute. If Bowyer can ship him out, even if it is out on loan (with a club covering his entire wages) that will allow him to bring in at least one striker.

Amo Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 If Mercerman or anyone else annoys just put them on ignore. That would only work if EVERYONE put Mercer on ignore.

Why didnt Dundee cover Goodwillies entire wage Kammy to believe what you've just said about Best wages being fully covered elsewhere ? Who's going to replace Best ?
Andy Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 You could pick most of the forwards from most of the teams in leagues lower than ours - and they would be a good replacement for Best. Awful player, terrible attitude. I'll be pleased when he leaves.

JBiz Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Ignorance can be cured. Stupidity is forever.[/quote This did make me laugh, the stupidity of touting Rhodes to Bolton or Wigan. Back to the point - I wouldnt be sad to see Leon leave, he seems a quality player in certain aspects with the attitude of a petulant git. He is very much a "certainly can spell team with I" kind of player in my eyes, not what GB is looking for or intent in using.

Well Coyle isn't ruling it out: http://www.wigantoday.net/sport/wigan-athletic/coyle-not-ruling-out-rhodes-bid-1-5987063 Best will take some shifting. Free transfer and a pay-off might do the trick as can't see many other takers otherwise with question marks, IMO, against attitude, ability and fitness. That could be £7 to 8 million down the drain. Scandalous.
Andy Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Coyle may be convincing himself, but nobody else is stupid enough to believe that could happen. Wigan won't be signing Rhodes.

Saturday will be interesting. Let's assume that Dann and Best haven't been shifted and there is firm interest in Rhodes - do Rovers play him and risk him being injured with say £6m to £7m at stake ? Cue a cheeky bid from Bolton on Thursday !?!?

Let's assume that Dann and Best haven't been shifted and there is firm interest in Rhodes - do Rovers play him and risk him being injured with say £6m to £7m at stake ? Cue a cheeky bid from Bolton on Thursday !?!? of course Rovers and Bowyer will play Rhodes against Bolton and looking forward to him scoring the winner and upset your Dougie. Why the hell would Rhodes want to a club in Bolton lower than us in the League table. Even Bolton fans are starting to question Freedman tactics and starting to think he's not the man to get them promote Also as Kamy has said that Rhodes isn't interest in moving to another Championship team. and I cant see Rovers selling Rhodes at all. You seem to keep wanted Rhodes to be sold. don't know why?
Andy Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 MM - Rhodes won't go to Wigan. They can't afford him and I can't imagine that he'd see Rovers > Wigan as anything but a sideways step. From a playing perspective, it doesn't make sense for him to move to Wigan. From a financial perspective, Wigan won't even have half of what would be required for the transfer fee alone. A Nixon special if ever I heard one.

Chaddy, firstly I am a Rovers' supporter of decades with a passive interest only in Bolton due to friends / family - so can you please stop all that nonsense. Equally, I do not want Rhodes sold. However, it's the Rovers' financial position caused by, IMO, 3 years of crass mismanagement that will force the issue. Bolton, Wigan, QPR, Forest might not be Rhodes' preferred choice but if Rovers accept a bid and there is no PL interest, he really doesn't have too many options and despite what you may think, the futures of those four clubs look far better than that of Rovers, at least over the next few years.

You seem to keep wanted Rhodes to be sold. don't know why? Chaddy, if you had watched the Rovers for as long as Mercer and some of us you would know that everyone is for sale. Pickering, England, Newton, Field, Barker, Shearer, Sutton, Jones etc. the list goes on and that's just during my time of watching the Rovers. If the money is right the club will sell no matter what they might say in public. It certainly won't be the first time that the club has said a player is not leaving and a few days later we wave goodbye to them. If we do sell him it will be because of the financial problems at the club and if we are forced to sell him it will be for less than £8 million. Personally, I don't think he will leave because, as yet, there doesn't appear to have been any offers. He's certainly not as much in demand as some would suggest. However, with the wage bill still too high and with the club losing money one suspect's it will be the accountants rather than the manager who makes the decision in the unlikely event that an offer is made.

It's a concerted effort from Bolton & Wigan to unsettle Rhodes & Rovers,, aided and abetted by some talentless hacks and idiots like you who repeat the same unsubstantiated shyte over and over again. No coincidence that JA is Coyle's agent, and no coincidence either that you joined this board on the day Kean was appointed. Why don't you @#/? off and post on the MB of the team that you support, because it's blatantly obvious that you're not a Rovers fan.
Rover_Shaun Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Nothing would surprise me about Venky Rovers. Expect anything and everything unless you are very very naive. I think nodody will bid for him but if they did I would not be shocked to see him sold.

Why don't you kean off and post on the MB of the team that you support, because it's blatantly obvious that you're not a Rovers fan. All you do is pour out personal insult after personal insult. I very rarely insult people on this MB except in retaliation as I respect their right to offer and express a view and opinion even if I should not agree with it. However, I think you are beyond the pale and calling you stupid would be an insult to stupid people. How do you know Mercer is a Rovers fan? I will happily pit my wits against you over the last 50 years of Rovers' history.

Firstly MM, never said you are not a Rovers fan haven't I? Putting Words in my mouth again Secondly, As Kamy said this morning Rhodes isn't interested in leaving for another Championship team and would only talk to them IF Rovers accept a bid for him. Also cant see any of those teams putting a bid in that Rovers would accept. the asking price is 10 mil plus. don't them making this sort of bid for him Bolton look shocking on Saturday and IMO wont even make the playoffs with the current squad. lacking 4 or 5 players to even get a good squad together.
Parsonblue Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 How do you know Mercer is a Rovers fan? From earlier posts and references to earlier players. At the end of the day it is a forum for discussion and not everyone has to hold the same view. Personally, I enjoy his posts. The supposition that the Rovers might be forced to sell Rhodes because of financial problems is not really much of a leap in the dark. At the end of the day if the club needs money nobody at Ewood will care if it comes from Bolton, Wigan or a Premier League club. Ultimately the club is far more important than an individual and Rhodes wouldn't be the first to be sold, reluctantly, simply to pay the bills. Hopefully, it won't come to that but until the window closes anything is possible.

Chaddy, two points, firstly, if the speculation about Rovers' financial position is correct and there are no sales (Dann etc), I do not think it will take anywhere near £10million - we might well be desperate to discharge the Huddersfield liability and get a huge wage (close to £2million) off the books. Secondly, I am not defending Bolton but they have suffered from injuries and suspensions badly. Expect to see at least Pratley and Eagles back on Saturday and they will make a huge difference.
