Whilst I'm not suggesting that you're not a Rovers fan, what a pointless retort. We're sat on the internet, and I'll happily pit my wits against anybody about any topic over the history of mankind.

Suspect it might be a ploy just to try and drive-up the price.

From earlier posts and references to earlier players. At the end of the day it is a forum for discussion and not everyone has to hold the same view. Personally, I enjoy his posts. The supposition that the Rovers might be forced to sell Rhodes because of financial problems is not really much of a leap in the dark. At the end of the day if the club needs money nobody at Ewood will care if it comes from Bolton, Wigan or a Premier League club. Ultimately the club is far more important than an individual and Rhodes wouldn't be the first to be sold, reluctantly, simply to pay the bills. Hopefully, it won't come to that but until the window closes anything is possible.

Nobody said it was a leap in the dark. We all know he could be sold. However, to repeat it ad nauseum, with evident glee, and rarely post about anything else suggests he's a WUM. Or he's got OCD.

I very rarely insult people on this MB except in retaliation as I respect their right to offer and express a view and opinion even if I should not agree with it.

Chaddy, two points, firstly, if the speculation about Rovers' financial position is correct and there are no sales (Dann etc), I do not think it will take anywhere near £10million - we might well be desperate to discharge the Huddersfield liability and get a huge wage (close to £2million) off the books.

Secondly, I am not defending Bolton but they have suffered from injuries and suspensions badly. Expect to see at least Pratley and Eagles back on Saturday and they will make a huge difference.

I can see where you are coming from MM. I dont get all this fanciful stuff that keeps getting trotted out about why would Rhodes leave to join another club similar to us? Tell me one thats similar to us -really!! We are a basket case less people forget.What has happened since the end of last season that has changed anything?

We have signed loads of average journeymen, the manager whilst honest and deserving of his chance is scrambling and the ownership and management structure is as bad as ever. Throw into the mix that we are spewing cash from every orifice and we have to be willing sellers of anybody in our squad.Just a shame theres only about 2 that anybody would want.

The forecast fire sale that MM and others including me predicted at the start of the summer might not have happened but thats more due to the lack of saleable assets and the ridiculous contracts they are all sat on at Ewood.

Is Wigan a better bet than us ? would it be more attractive to Rhodes? Damn right it would.I know who i would back to go up out of the two teams.

I am afraid that you are factually incorrect in your assertion that I rarely post about anything else as my posting history would demonstrate.

Oh dear, that won't go down well with the prophets of doom. Surely if we were in financial meltdown we'd sell to anyone.

No big fan of Degsy but ithat statement puts talentless gobshytes like Coyle and Freedman firmly in their place. He may be for sale but not to mid-table championship sides who won't even be able to pay the same wages as Rovers.

Reluctantly and with regret TBTF I have to agree with you.

As a club we're much akin to someone that dabbles in shares on the stock market that doesn't really know much about shares.

Dive in, buy some, sell a few for a profit but invariably in the end all that's generally left is a portfolio that cost a fortune but is worth twopence. What do you do, hang on to them till the grim death or cut your losses?

In your opinion he would be better off but the facts don't bear it out. For a start Wigan won't pay the wages Rovers do, they never have, so he would be taking a pay cut. Secondly, do you really think Wigan will go up instead of the likes of QPR, Watford, Forest or Reading? Coyle may have a bit of money but so do they, and Coyle is no Rednapp or Davies.

The question really is do Rovers want to sell him, and would he be prepared to to be forced out for less money to a Championship club with little chance of promotion?

I have a friend whose superstition stretches to if he doesn't mention something, it won't happen - some people avoid using the word cancer for the same reason. It may be that some feel that MM even postulating the awful, ie Rhodes being sold, is tantamount to something making it come to pass.

I didnt say they would go up above QPR, Watford , Forest or Reading did i? I said out of the two of us !! And whilst we are at it, Coyle did manage to get the feckin Dingles promoted which is more than i think Davies has done.

If Whelan wants to bankroll a shot at getting back first time with the bigger parachute payment than we are getting plus the possible sale of one or two of his stars then how do you know he wont break the bank for a 30 goal a year man , proven in this division??

Pretty obvious from that, that they're interested in Rhodes.

Just one thought about this, that no-one has mentioned. If Venky's really are serious about selling the club, I would imagine selling Rhodes before they went would be a big attraction to them.

Possible but equally, selling the club's biggest asset would drive down the value of the club and therefore the selling price. By keeping him, they can include Rhodes' sell on value in the price.

maybe Darren maybe. By the way i agree with your other post about match updates on the MB. I couldnt go Saturday as i was still on hols so i used the board for updates and it was driving me crazy trying to get on to it for info.Come MODS , help is needed!!
