Confirmation again from Bowyer, Rhodes ain`t going anywhere.

http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/10644346._/?

Reading into that he clearly wants rid of Best

Do you think he's unable to score 22 with us this season?

I think he will score that but nothing is proven or predictable in football

"“I’ve said all along that I’ve been told we don’t have to sell Jordan Rhodes."

Massive massive pinch of salt. IF a premierleague club come in he's gone.

Bowyer won't be the last to (potentially) have egg on his face regarding player sales. EVERY player is for sale everywhere

I think it will boil down to nobody wanting to take a punt on him rather than Rovers resolve

I predict he get at least 22.

So do I but you would expect that for the price paid what will be interesting to see is how the likes of Wood do this season who cost less and scored similar last season, they may have been having a Stead season

We can't yet include Rhodes in that category either

Only because he has only had one season at this level. It looks highly likely he will be a player you can guarantee that sort of return from year in year out.

Jimmy's table of scorers is fine with hindsight after the event bur for those he has managed to dig up there must be hundreds of players clubs took a punt on who didn't come off. We paid more for Rhodes because we thought he would guarantee goals and he indeed he got them. We're not likely to ever lose money on him either so I really can't see the problem. I see far more of a problem with spending 3m on Best tbh given he's been a complete flop for various reasons.

I hope I'm not going to have another Kenny Miller moment but for once Chaddy's insane optimism levels seem well founded. There are only 4 days to the close of the window and there has been practicslly no credible interest in him at all. Long may that continue.

As for Glen's rumour mongering about a player going out, I can't recall much if anything Glen has ever said coming to pass but if it did happen with any luck it'll be Orr. I sometimes come into contact with Hanley and as far as I know, he 's extremely happy here, knows he's on a good thing etc.

All scored over 22 (if memory serves me correct) goals in the Championship. Brackets represents age at time of purchase etc.

Glen Murray free (29)

Charlie Austin Undisclosed (21)

Marlon King - 500,000 (24)

Rickie Lambert - 1million (27)

Grant Holt Undisclosed (27)

Kevin Doyle £117,000 (21)

Jamie Cureton Free (30)

Michael Chopra - £500,000 (23)

Kevin Philips - £350,000 (23)

Sylvan Ebanks-Blake 1.5million (22)

Jason Scotland 25,000 (28)

Ross McCormack Free (21)

Nicky Maynard - £2.25m (21)

Shane Long Free (18)

Danny Graham - £200,000 (23)

Scott Sinclair 500,000 (rising to £1m)

Ricardo Vaz te Undisclosed (25)

Jordan Rhodes- £8million (22)

So who are we going to buy for a low fee such as these that will score as many as Rhodes? It's not an exact science.

I get why people think we paid over the odds for him and to an extent I agree but that's done now. At least he puts the ball in the net.

Think Austin cost us 1.2 million I think - has/had a similar record to Rhodes and pretty much same age (think he's 8 or 9 months older?)Oh and neither him nor Rhodes are even in the same country as Shearer - then again few strikers are, one player who was truly world class

Yes and Sheater cost about 50m in real terms in today's money, something else people forget or choose to ignore.

So if we sell, its for Venky's to remove money from the club?

Have they actually put net money in over their tenure?

The idea of any business is to make money and not lose it which is a notion which football supporters frequently appear to resent.

Might stick in the throat somewhat but as an all round striker, with all the attributes, Charlie Austin would have been the ideal replacement IMO.

He might have been an ideal strike partner too. When we played Burnley at ewood Austin played mainly in the hole between midfield and their CF.

How many do it season after season?

How many have we that have accomplished that?

If he runs his contract down he will walk away for nothing and his time here will have cost us circa 16m. That figure will likely exceed our entire income from ST's and gate receipts over the same period!

If JR doesn't fire us back to the Prem (and for that it appears 28 goals isn't nearly enough) he will have been a very expensive mistake.

Doesn't help when you have some fans who will only venture inside Ewood if rhey can get in on a freebie whilst the Venkymob are in charge.

Edited it for you Simon lest you give people the wrong impression about me.

Let me give you some advice... if someone lies to me once it's their fault, if someone lies to me twice it's my own bloody fault! Think on. ;)

But what if in that same period his goals make a huge contribution to keeping us in this league amidst all the other restructuring and building a young raw team. If he keeps scoring goals he's doing what he is paid to do, no mistake there.

It's up to Bowyer to build as squad with players who do their individual tasks as well as Rhodes does his.

It would be a breeze back up then

When you were at school do you remember the math problems about how long it takes to fill a bath from a tap that flows at 2 gallons per hour and a plughole that lets out 1 gallon per hour? Well the cost of Rhodes v our income reverses the figures.

I know that but that's an interesting if arrogant way of putting it. Unless there is a bid he won't go anywhere so they may have to find a way of accomodating his huge wages whilst filling the team with cheaper wages but he will still score the goals to keep us in this division so he's still earning his corn over the length of his contract is he not ?

In relation to our owners ... which lie do you rate as the worst?

Why do we keep talking about selling Jordan?

It's a topic which has two outcomes, he stays or goes - how can 30 pages of this forum be time well spent arguing about who he will go to? All this caused by idiot scandal mongering wannabe ITK's who pedal Nickoman's trash.

Exactly right. I said it on another thread, but anyone that still believes Nixon needs to give their head a wobble, he has no credibility, contacts and changes his allegiance that often, I can't keep up with him.

He's been pro-Burnley, pro-Rovers, pro-Bolton and now appears to be pro-Wigan. Absolutely tragic.

Where do I start?.... there's been so many from the venkymob and their lapdog Kean. How about this for starters...http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/blackburn-rovers/8201301/Blackburn-Rovers-owner-Anuradha-Desai-watches-cricket-hockey-sometimes-but-never-football.html

Bearing in mind that I am not as gullible as you which are the worst lies that you recall ES?

btw I'm sure there is a catalogue of em on here somewhere.

I've never read anything Nicko writes either in the paper or on twitter but I've always felt that IF a premierleague club thought he was worth a punt he'd be off. Don't think they will though

I agree that's it's been page upon page of nothing based on nothing.

When in fact the only club he REALLY cares about is Partick Thistle.......Make of that what you will!

Ha ha. Partick Thistle are stated as someone's team when they don't want to admit whether they are a Tim or a Bear. Wonder which he is.

I will give you one that he got right mate and its very apt for this thread because Glen "gave" us Jordan Rhodes a month before he signed...in fact I'll hazard a guess that the first time Glen mentioned our interest in Rhodes even Rhodes himself didn't have a clue about that interest...

I once said to him that I didn't know why he passed any information on to any of these threads. The vast majority only ever believe what they want to and these include you. You honestly believe because you watch a player on a Saturday and because he seems a "nice" lad then you must be right about him!?

What you have to remember is that info is only good in that moment because things change...I have only ever posted one thing which was 100% true and it was NOT worth it for the drivel that followed...
