chaddyrovers Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 http://www.rovers.co.uk/news/article/great-scot-hanley-nets-new-deal-851303.aspx Great News. Hanley will be here next season. was our Best CB last season.
Backroom Tom Posted June 2, 2013 Backroom Posted June 2, 2013 Good news He was potentially heading elsewhere but the managerial merry go round in the premier league probably put an end to that
T.J.Newton Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 More good news, the clubs on a role this week(this must be killing some people )
Stuart Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 The obscure thread title needs changing - and quick - to avoid getting people's hopes up. I'm sure I wasn't the only one hoping Venkys were off.

tkturner Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 Good news, retaining the guys who actually put a bit of effort in is essential
Stuart Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 Done Thanks. What was the title? "Announcement Imminent"
jim mk2 Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 Hanley played well last season and I'm pleased to see him stay. He's not a top drawer defender but he's good and should get better with age. Wish he'd lose a few pounds (weight) though.
LDRover Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 He's decent, certainly not in the top ten central defenders in the league but he can only improve. However, I'm sure that the main thing about this deal will be a minimum release clause.
rovers11 Posted June 2, 2013 Author Posted June 2, 2013 Great news. All this deal means is that he'll be here next season and certainly not the next 5 years. Contracts are worthless nowadays. He'll be off next summer if we don't get promoted.
davulsukur Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 Good news. Bowyer rates him highly from the praise he gave him last season.
Batman. Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 One of our best players imo Hence us finishing in our lowest league position in over two decades.
patrickvalery Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 Can't fault his effort and that is always nice to see. But sometimes playing center half means playing cutely as well as booming tackles and gargantuan headers. When he learns how to do this he might be a top level player. But, as is the case with most championship and below level clubs, we'll almost certainly never see that rounded performance from Hanley because its our job to produce the raw essentials and sell to a PL side who can apply the finishing touches. Such is life. Glad he is signed up. If nothing else it means another first teamer who won't need bedding in next season.
pontyrover Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 Hence us finishing in our lowest league position in over two decades. Better to keep our best players.
roverandout Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 rovers don't have any 'best players' (apart from Rhodes)
TBTF Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 More good news, the clubs on a role this week(this must be killing some people ) I am defo renewing now!! Nothing against the lad but if thats us on a roll (not role) then i fear for us. Very odd that every player news so far is an additional cost........ am i missing something or is there a coach getting ready to leave??
