dave birch Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 I was driving home from golf this arvo about two hours ago (Aussie time) and I thought I heard the compare talking about a scandal that could break in the UK that could rock the government. I didn't take too much notice at the time, but I'm sure he said that newspapers and media outlets didn't want to be the first to put the news out as it was that sensitive. Anyone heard anything?

Backroom Tom Posted June 3, 2013 Backroom Posted June 3, 2013 Some affair involving politicians of some sort I think but know nothing further What's Edwina Curry up to these days!
dave birch Posted June 3, 2013 Author Posted June 3, 2013 There's a bit on the Garudian website, but nothing other than "sell paper" stuff.
Paul Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 There are three members of the House of Lords and an MP been in bother for being "influenced" by parliamentary lobbyists. http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-22749803
adopted scouser Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Some affair involving politicians of some sort I think but know nothing further What's Edwina Curry up to these days! NOW Ginge ?
dave birch Posted June 3, 2013 Author Posted June 3, 2013 Paul, I think it might go a little beyond that. What I (hear) is that it might be a little sensitive. Could it be a very "tory" thing?
Paul Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Could it be a very "tory" thing? I shall look forward to that.
thenodrog Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 I shall look forward to that. Really? Why? Whatever .... If it's Tory scandals usually involve sex whilst Labour it's thieving. I'd think it must be something else to get No10 all steamed up cos the tarry fingered Lords are 2 Labour peers and an Ulster unionist but unsurprisingly you appear quite unconcerned about that. I assume the powers that be within the Labour party will be grabbing a broom and lifting a corner of the rug at Labour HQ even as we speak.
Paul Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Really? Why? Just a bit of fun Gordon. Try not to get over excited

Jock Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Is it Cliff Richard, a priest and an MP in a gay daisychain ?
broadsword Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Is it Cliff Richard, a priest and an MP in a gay daisychain ? Congratulations and celebrations When I tell everyone that you're stuck up me Clergy figures and politicians Don't want the world to know they're into me
jim mk2 Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Could it be this:- http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2334916/Secret-affair-high-profile-figures-casts-shadow-Number-10-David-Cameron.html This is the so-called "upcoming (should be forthcoming by the way) scandal" that's been doing the rounds at Westminster for the past 2 weeks. There were rumours at one stage that Cameron had been having an affair but it turns out it's two low-level Tories (always them of course) who've been playing away from home. Much ado about nothing.
47er Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Congratulations and celebrationsWhen I tell everyone that you're stuck up meClergy figures and politiciansDon't want the world to know they're into me Goodbye Sam, Hello Samantha?
speeeeeeedie Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Is this it? Would explain the Aussie angle. http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/people/2013/06/14/rupert-murdoch-wendi-deng-divorce-story-gets-juicier/2424115/
Guest Norbert Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 I'd have a go on her. And Samantha Cameron. That would be a great episode of Jeremy Kyle Speeeeeedie.
thenodrog Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Funny that the strong socialist principles of Tony Bliar didn't get in the way of his close personal links with Rupert Murdoch and his family isn't it?
Guest Norbert Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 He was never a Socialist, but a Tory with a red rosette. Nice try Gordon. Though maybe he misheard someone who was and thought they wanted some sort of MILF redistribution.
thenodrog Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 He was never a Socialist, but a Tory with a red rosette. Doesn't say much for the thought processes of the electorate then does it? Thats the problem with democracy.... every fecker gets a vote.
Backroom Mike E Posted June 17, 2013 Backroom Posted June 17, 2013 Doesn't say much for the thought processes of the electorate then does it? Thats the problem with democracy.... every fecker gets a vote. Even at 22, I feel ill-equipped to vote tbh. Be nice to be presented with straight facts about what each party represents, rather than biased clap-trap from all sides.
broadsword Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Be nice to be presented with straight facts about what each party represents Naked desire for power.
thenodrog Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Break it down to individuals and 90% of politicians are a noxious mix of megalomania, ego, greed and pomposity. As Billy Connoly famously said "the desire and motivation to become a politician should be enough to ban you for life from ever being one". Who could argue with that?
Backroom Mike E Posted June 19, 2013 Backroom Posted June 19, 2013 We should do it how the Greeks did it. Every couple years, you are randomly selected to be an MP for your area. Essentially done the way Jury Service is. I would also add the condition that only people who have been in paid work for 15 years or are aged 40+ (whichever comes last) can be selected.

Now THERE'S a model for success...
