I think your result over Watford stands out, much fancied team and definitely in the mix.

Watford are the best team I have seen so far this season - but it is a long season for all teams. Very often the margins can be small - like when you play a team, whether they are in form, have injuries etc.

We probably played Burnley at exactly the wrong time - especially losing Dunn just prior to the match - whatever the debate about who was the best team on the day - it has turned out to be an excellent point for us in the context of Burnley's season so far.

I do recall the posts booth (but thanks for the heads up on numbers and pages etc - not sure I'll ever get the hang of it but you never know) I just don't interpret it as getting snarky, you do - never the twain and all that.

Having said that, there is an interesting interpretation of the comments re we've played easier opposition and you the harder opponents because, of course, we have played you and you have played us ...... ^_^

Let's not pretend you weren't having a snipe. I didn't say anything about us having the harder opponents (although we have, I'd say our biggest problem was that we were downright poor rather than the opposition being good). Again it was you bringing Rovers into a discussion about your start to the season and you comparing the two.

Anyway, you've played two teams from the top half - us and Brighton. You drew with an out of sorts Rovers side at home and were beaten by Brighton away. If Rovers were in your position I'd be happy about our league position but worried that we hadn't really been tested yet. After us starting well last season and ended up down at the bottom you can't take anything for granted in football. One result can sap the confidence and send you on a bad run (cough 3-2).

who cares about the Dingles, its our own team we need to see push on in every game. This Burnley being at the top is due to them getting the results, it doesn't matter who they played yet.

It's a thread about the rest of the going's on in the Championship.

Wigan were cruising 2-0 to Maribor tonight after an hour and looking good for a 3rd, where they prob would have rested a few players. Maribor pulled one back and the whole game has changed now. gotta be good news for Rovers.

Well it's a marathon not a sprint. Not that I ever enjoy a Clarets win, I'd consider Reading to be more of a threat to our aspirations over the season than them up the road.

Looking forward to a huge vociferous following tomorrow, another good performance and hopefully a result.

Come on you reds!

I thought Millwall was up, 1 or 2 nil to Bournemouth, Bournemouth now lead 4-2. QPR barely defeating Barnsley, 24th place, you'd think they'd be rolling over them especially at home so QPR is strong but may not be invulnerable, pointed out QPR have only scored 10 goals, behind Rovers (16) and a number of other clubs.

Doncaster looking to defeat Leicester City, have to like that if it holds up, I'd think.

Looking at 2 of the results today... Bournemouth and Watford's, it just goes to show how well we have done lately.

Tomorrows game will be a nervy one for sure but isn't that what football is all about? COYB!!!

This is a poor league in terms of quality. Burnley had very little about them when we played them (although they would argue the same about us) yet they top the table.

For me, a positive attacking outlook gets you a long way in this division.

Haven't you read this thread? It's because we are only playing kean teams

credit has to go to the manager tbh. the team is nothing special but results for your lot are ridiculous at the moment.

The best teams are always greater than the sum of their parts. Great credit to the manager but don't totally write off some of the talent, particularly Ings, Vokes, Shackel, Trippier - oh and the keeper isn't looking half bad.

But yeah there's a real work ethic and togetherness that is winning the games, over half way to the safety target now and a 20 point cushion on the bottom 3. Of course we won't win it or be top 6, let alone top 2 but that doesn't mean we shouldn't enjoy this spell where, despite what you might think, we are playing some decent stuff. Readings keeper today was outstanding, we really should have been out of sight.

Just on the squad thing, allowing for the fact that we have nothing outside say 14 players which will be a nightmare in the end, the season we won the play offs we played more games than any other team in England besides Man Utd due to great runs in the cup competitions then the plays offs and I think we only used 20 players. Wish I could remember exact numbers but I think it was 65 games. I think the point I'm trying to make is a huge squad isn't needed, around 20/21 good players is what you need.
