Blue blood Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Always did well with WBA but not really seemed to quite work there - they do seem to be one of those teams that think they have a divine right to be top 2, consider themselves above this level. Agree - very do seem they think they should do very well, just because of their previous history and they spent (or should that be wasted) a lot of money under Strachen. Like us I think what they need time to rebuild the team and plan a long term strategy for success, within a sensible wage structure with players who suit the manager's plan. But perhaps like us too, it's promotion or bust for them this season, and they can't afford to do this strategy?

yoda's brother Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Small squad + injuries = trouble rovers: big squad + injuries = trouble. as we are seeing
longsiders1882 Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 rovers: big squad + injuries = trouble. as we are seeing I guess squad size isn't the relevant factor - it is about strength in depth. I can't say whether you have it or not, I simply don't know enough about your squad. We have little depth so we certainly can't have strength in depth. That said in the modern game good use of the loan system can carry you through the odd tough period.
davulsukur Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 That's a shock. Hasn't managed since 2006 been out of the game for a long time, as much as I like Souey, I can't see him being a good appointment now. Certainly in the long term.
G Somerset Rover Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Derby have signed Andre Wisdom on loan from Liverpool - what a great signing that is for this league. He's head and shoulders above Kane. Derby are going to rocket up this league IMO.
cn174 Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Not Championship....but been very rainy at Portsmouth tonight!!
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 For all the people who rubbished the thought of Keith Hill being appointed at Rovers, look where Rochdale are now.
somersetrover Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 For all the people who rubbished the thought of Keith Hill being appointed at Rovers, look where Rochdale are now. Slight difference in standard though.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Slight difference in standard though. Mm, for how much longer ?
darrenrover Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Mm, for how much longer ? Even at our lowest ebb, we were always a cut above the likes of Rochdale. Don't do us down too much, our travelling support is generally double a home gate at Spotland. That said, I'd rather it all be over and done with and move on rather than dangling like a thread. Put up, shut up and/or sell up and then at least we all know what the future holds.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Travelling support doesn't score goals, make tackles, etc. I've seen us playing in the same league as Rochdale, and losing.
darrenrover Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Travelling support doesn't score goals, make tackles, etc. I've seen us playing in the same league as Rochdale, and losing. So have I Tyrone, that wasn't my point as well you know.
thenodrog Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 For all the people who rubbished the thought of Keith Hill being appointed at Rovers, look where Rochdale are now. I never rubbished him (Many years ago I played CF in a friendly against him! Knocked him and big Col all over the park too ) Truth is when Kean was in charge I'd have preferred either Benny Hill or even Fanny Hill!
Proudtobeblue&white Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Borough, our next opponents at home 2-0 up v Donny (our nemesis) - Adomah, 2 good goals & one to watch?
Proudtobeblue&white Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Now 4-0, wow we need a result at skanktown!
Backroom Tom Posted October 26, 2013 Backroom Posted October 26, 2013 Abuse me if you will but well done Dingles Beating QPR and 8 wins on the bounce proves they aren't there by fluke, they are better than us and every other team in this league thus far and there's nothing to suggest they won't go up
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted October 26, 2013 Moderation Lead Posted October 26, 2013 Exactly right Tom, it's still early days but they are looking good at this moment in time! I'm off for a shower......
Stuart Posted October 26, 2013 Author Posted October 26, 2013 Abuse me if you will but well done Dingles Beating QPR and 8 wins on the bounce proves they aren't there by fluke, they are better than us and every other team in this league thus far and there's nothing to suggest they won't go up You keaning kean of a keaning kean! 7, btw.
Backroom Tom Posted October 26, 2013 Backroom Posted October 26, 2013 They currently have double the points we do whilst we are 7 points from the playoffs and 7 points from the relegation zone Let's not be small time and pretend its luck or otherwise Edit Kean you Stuart I'm going to start ruling this place with an iron fist and you are first you Keaning kean
Derbyshire Blue Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Longsider must be a very proud man this evening, mightily impressed by everything Burnley did today, organised, pressed, brilliant goal and gave QPR nowt.... On that form can't see Burnley not going up
Clitherover Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Looking at the table is very painful indeed, a crumb of comfort to take is that if the inbreds did go up they'd get torn a new one (again), their owners would pocket every penny of Premiership TV money (again) and we'd all have a good laugh when they got relegated (again).
jim mk2 Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 I really hope Burnley go up if only to prove to the defeatists on here who think we are in some sort of terminal decline. Burnley and others are proof that with good people on and off the pitch but especially in the dugout you do not need money to be successful in this league.
longsiders1882 Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Proud doesn't come close. The dangers to us are well documented but, and I've avoided even thinking this so far let alone saying it, this team is the real deal. We out worked, out thought and ultimately out played QPR. We've put in one hell of a foundation for the season and given ourselves a shot at top 6 if we can be a little lucky. Worst case, 18 more points to safety :-) Oh one sour note, the @#/? who threw the bottle at Barton!
