DavidMailsTightPerm Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Read it and weep :-) : http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11688/9013385/sky-bet-championship-burnleys-dyche-and-ings-named-manager-and-player-of-month This stood out for me: Good luck to you - personally I am not so dismissive of your chances of keeping it up for the whole season - but as yourself have readily admitted, it is still early days yet.

longsiders1882 Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 It is early days and so I'm definitely still dining out on it still - lord knows how long I've got but I'm milking everyday of it whilst I can. No Maji, I highlighted it because it put some focus for me personally on just how exceptional our run has been, sometimes it takes seeing it written down to make some impact. As for Ings and Cardiff, if he goes in January it will be for a lot of Money and there will be plenty of suitors. I'm hoping we can still be up there and keep hold of him at least until summer but this is football, we are Burnley so I know there's a high probability he will be gone.
Backroom Tom Posted November 9, 2013 Backroom Posted November 9, 2013 Burnley fail to beat Bournemouth but their rivals don't win either so a good day down the road again Buggars
longsiders1882 Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 We did enough to win 3 games today, maybe our 'luck' has run out because their keeper and defence got saves and blocks in all game.
Backroom DE. Posted November 9, 2013 Backroom Posted November 9, 2013 If your luck had run out your rivals would have gained on you. Unfortunately it continues.
Rover_Shaun Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 We're only two signings away, says Blackburn Rovers star Dunn FIT-AGAIN talisman David Dunn believes Blackburn Rovers are two ‘quality’ signings away from launching a sustained push for promotion
thenodrog Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 We're only two signings away, says Blackburn Rovers star Dunn Maybe Mr Blackburn would like to buy them then. He's prob more credibility at the bank than the club.
Rover_Shaun Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Can you have an 'unsustained' push for promotion??

That could be a long time off, mind.
John Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 We're only two signings away, says Blackburn Rovers star Dunn Good old Dunny, best pals with Kentaro Kean - great lad though when he is fit....
Stuart Posted November 17, 2013 Author Posted November 17, 2013 Very interesting Chaddy, the Venky's will be very pleased to hear that the FL have now decided to give the fines to charity,That money, or even a fraction, should be pumped into grassroots/junior football to build and improve pitches.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 Leeds have sold some 5,000 tickets to date for Ewood..I understand they have now been given the full allocation of nearly 7,000.
FGS5635 Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 Hate it when we give away teams all that stand. Turns it into a bloody home game for them.
Stuart Posted November 17, 2013 Author Posted November 17, 2013 Hate it when we give away teams all that stand. Turns it into a bloody home game for them. To be fair, with the atmosphere (pre-Rovers-goal) at Ewood in the last two seasons, any side bringing 2000 with them seems like a home game for the opposition.
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted November 18, 2013 Moderation Lead Posted November 18, 2013 Hate it when we give away teams all that stand. Turns it into a bloody home game for them. To be fair, it's not as if we don't need the money......
FGS5635 Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 The extra cash wont make a difference though and if its promotion or bust then we shouldnt be making it harder to get points at home imo
OJRovers Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Hmm interesting that they have changed the rules on where any FFP fines go. Previously they were meant to be split between all the clubs that obeyed the rules. Now they go to charity. Shows how weak the rules are if they can just change them like that. I would imagine the reason for the change is that if eg QPR pay a big fine, there is more chance them taking it to court if they could reclaim it from the other clubs, they are unlikely to try getting it back from a charity.

Who are "they"? The football league is simply a committee made up of the club chair persons or representative isn't it? In other words the clubs.
Backroom DE. Posted November 23, 2013 Backroom Posted November 23, 2013 Burnley have just been gifted another ridiculous goal via a penalty. Beggars belief.
longsiders1882 Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 Decent point today in a touh fixture, more about defensive grit than flair by all accounts. Still top (just) with only one loss all season but that's 3 draws on the bounce now
Guest Norbert Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 I think Burnley may just be up there at the end of the season. It doesn't feel good saying it, but this expected implosion of form hasn't come, and doesn't look like it will soon enough for them to really miss the play offs.

A lot will depend on the board actually wanting it !! January coming up , players in and out ...If they strengthen you could well be right !

Just think if FFP actually puts clubs off having ambitions to reach the PL because the risks outweigh the potential rewards.
Guest Norbert Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 True Stuart. It'll be a case of 'taking the money and running' if team X, Y or Z go up. They would not go out on a limb to get a good enough squad to stay up, put the cash in the bank and be a big fish in this division. Of course, there are clubs, like errrm, us that need promotion to have confidence that well have a club at all.
