You still consoling yourself with the Yorkshire thing?

We won't invest in January - well unless there are big out goings (Ings and Trippier).

Form has stalled, like a say 3 draws on the bounce and according to a few mates who went yesterday we were second best and very fortunate to get the draw.

Really feeling for you, brother. It's tough at the top.

Visiting Burnley has always felt like visiting Yorkshire to me Longers.

Burnley being lucky? Surely not ;)

Big Yorkshire derby coming up for them this weekend with Shuddersfield.

Huddersfield is probably the best away of the season, just about everything the East Lancs derby isn’t.

Forest were good, they’ll be up there at the end. What did you reckon to Reading? They were totally disinterested at the Turf. Guthrie and the Russian lad look good in this league but no ‘spirit’ at all. Can’t see them doing anything this season.

I see O'Hara is poised for a loan move to blackpool.....not the greatest but would be a big improvement on one or two of the current crock of shyte in midfield....pity we are never even in the mix for this type of player...I'd say the manager is missing some good-ish uns and bringing in mediocre.

Which O'Hara is this ? The one who played for Wolves ? If it is he hasn't performed for about the last 3 years.

O'Hara would've been a good signing a few years ago but his career's been on the slide since he left Pompey.

I'd say that a loan move to blackpool is career on the up....but we wait and watch.....what about Guthrie, readings stand out player....he was playing down leyland LFA last season against notlob reserves for newcasltle...bowyer should have had scouts there...and what about sammy amoebi, perfect for a loan move bid from Newcastle...needs to play more and would do well at this level.

I can assure you that Guthrie wasn't playing for Newcastle reserves against anyone last season, as he played for Reading all last season having been signed last pre-season. I know your not a Bowyer fan and neither am I but you can't blame him for not signing a player when he wasn't even manager.

You know exactly what I am getting at...the guys been reserve manager for years and should know the young player market like the back of his hand and there are some good uns around, like young amoebi, who I think would excite the supporters...Shane ferguson at Newcastle was out on loan, cracking young left sided midfielder...we end up with some right old pony..

Why does everyone suggest O'Hara?

He is a laughing stock at Wolves, he has a shocking attitude, a knackered body and is on massive wages.

Plus centrally in midfield we have enough players.

You think our central midfield is all sorted then?

Exit the supporters I think. Just pulling names out of the air isn't going to help. We can't just sign crap like that for the sake of it, what's the point? Perhaps there's a dearth of talent that's actually available which Bowyer and most of the other Championship managers are all too aware of. Everyone scrapping for the same average players.

Albeit in your rather uninformed opinion.

O'Hara would be shocking signing. very lazy player.

Hang on chaddy, thats a bit harsh. O'Hara has had a good game in his career. It was against us about 5 years ago.... and thats enough for some it seems.

QPR do seem to be getting in big names - well names with a reputation at any rate. Dunne joined and will be interesting to see if he's mentally and physically up for it, whilst they're also looking at Hooper and have signed Simpson. Will be interesting to see if these players are ready to do the graft and grind needed for a successful championship team. As we found out last season players with big egos and lacking the hunger do very badly in this league. I wonder if there's a real danger with QPR if this will be the case for them as well. Can't comment on Henry - although the Wolves players' attitude has come in for a lot of criticism from their fans, but along with playboys like Simpson and the question marks over Dunne professionally over the years it'll be interesting to see whether they implode.

Also just seen the Dingle's latest signings link - www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23377740 Hardly inspiring, a Huddersfield reject says it all. Can see them struggling loads and next season may well be the last dingle derby for quite some time with this caliber of signing.

Now now boys. Whilst I fully accept we are in for a tough season I think it is a little premature to write of signings simply because it hasn't happened for them elsewhere. I'll adopt a watching brief for now, they've signed and deserve a chance to show they are up to the challenge. I can't say anything that has happened at your club for the last few seasons has made me think you are likely to get out of this league except via the trap door anytime soon.

On the Austin thing - I'd prefer to keep him of course but if he goes, ah well cest la vie. Pre season suggests Ings is showing the ability many of us long suspected he had. We do also have goals in a few other players as well.

I don't think him going massively increases the relegation threat we face, that has been clear all of last season and pre season so far hasn't improved our chances. Then again 'it's a funny old game' and as poor as we were for much of last season we finished above you. I am expecting a long slog for us this season where we are in and around the bottom for most of it but I won't be writing of our new players just yet.

Now I'm not playing the 20-20 hindsight game here because so far my prediction of a relegation battle for us looks pretty damn stupid but I would point out what was said in terms of our signing Arfield, who's been an excellent player so far for us. Never good to assume a player will be poor simply because they come in on a free from another team. Sometimes it is all about right player, right club, right manager, right time. Someone who performs poorly for you might do well elsewhere and vice versa.

Yep - got those two totally wrong!

Kudos to Dyche for getting something out of the player - I'm not sure he had too many suitors and it's not encouraging when Huddersfield release you. But Dyche seems to have done a great job with him.

Having said that if players perform badly or fail to impress at numerous clubs, odds on they won't be all that good for you and it's not surprising fans won't be impressed by the signing: form is temporary but class is permanent.

I can't claim I held out massive hope blue blood - nor that he is Messi or Ronaldo - but he's been very good for us, fits in perfectly with how Dyche sets them up. I gets that's the trick as a manager, knowing what you need from a signing and then being able to identify players within your budget (in our case £0.00) you can bring in.

Dyche has been in charge just over 12 months now and so far has not spent any money on transfer fees, at all, even though he lost our top scorer - quite some achievement in the modern game
