Tyrone Shoelaces Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 I can't claim I held out massive hope blue blood - nor that he is Messi or Ronaldo - but he's been very good for us, fits in perfectly with how Dyche sets them up. I gets that's the trick as a manager, knowing what you need from a signing and then being able to identify players within your budget (in our case £0.00) you can bring in. Dyche has been in charge just over 12 months now and so far has not spent any money on transfer fees, at all, even though he lost our top scorer - quite some achievement in the modern game Yeah, I can't knock your guy, he's doing great with not a great deal of top class material to work with. Being able or willing to play the same 11 helps though. I don't think we've had the same team out more than 2 games running for about the last three seasons. We've got two teams worth of first team players and we've no idea what our best 11 is and consequently we've no idea what system to play them in. I go back a long way and I can remember Alf Ramsey's Ipswich Town pipping Burnley for the old First Division title with a team full of cast offs and nobody's. The minute Alf left to manage England they collapsed.

Proudtobeblue&white Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Not worth at thread, but slot it in here......Pointless, for that's what it is.......my son enjoys the quiz, Alexander Armstrong on Beeb at 5.15 etc - preaching to converted blah blah Idea is 100 randoms via inter web are given topic, and given a question and are expected to come up with the most common answer. Most popular answer loses game as they look for most obscure answer......boring! Anyway today's first topic, name most obscure Prem/Champ grounds.....Manure got 50, presume rest were from Manchester who didn't know the name, interestingly of the four pointless answers were Portman Rd, London Rd, Leicesters ground, +1, Turd was on one, and Ewood on two.......thankfully we were twice as well known as the Dingles.....but it shows where we are on the radar! Yes, my life is that sad
Salgado Is A Hero Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 I said Huddersfield's (the John Smith's stadium). I think it got one. Although I was close to saying Doncaster's (the Keepmoat) who weren't in the top two leagues last season. I was a tad disapointed that we only got two.

West Yorks Rover Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Just heard on radio that Will Kean Man Utd star kid going to Wigan on loan. So much for Lofty's special relationship.
chaddyrovers Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 Reading winning 2 1 at Forest tonight at half time, I reckon Forest will win this now.
Backroom DE. Posted November 30, 2013 Backroom Posted November 30, 2013 Looks like Burnley's luck has well and truly run out Watford losing 2-0 at home to Yeovil
Clitherover Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Glad to see Watford losing, always wanted them to fail ever since they started with the suspicious transfer dealings. Always good to see Burnley lose.
Backroom Tom Posted November 30, 2013 Backroom Posted November 30, 2013 Burnley lose and still manage to get lucky with QPR
Backroom DE. Posted November 30, 2013 Backroom Posted November 30, 2013 Burnley lose and still manage to get lucky with QPR They're on the slide now, won't be long before they're back in mid table.
Clitherover Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Think they've a shot at playoffs but they won't be in contention with the likes of QPR and Leicester.
longsiders1882 Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Missing Marney in the middle and we go into the busy festive season with no reinforcements. Still got a long way to slide before we hit mid table though. Only Leicester currently playing with anything close to consistent form. Not won in 4 now and still second, I can live with that.
chaddyrovers Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Today resilts just proved that any club in this league can beat anyone. wide open league Rumours of Appleton taking over at Barnsley btw. think Jones will sack at Sheff Wed shortly aswell
Ossydave Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Watford are on my C**T list now, let me down for a rather large windfall
LDRover Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Bolton just needed to avoid defeat for me to pull 200 quid in on my acca. Missed a pen in the 88th min and lodt 1-0, certs for the c### list

Make the most of it Longers. Having said that there isn't a team in this league consistently looking the part. It's wide open at the moment. QPR should be walking it with the players they've got.
Stuart Posted November 30, 2013 Author Posted November 30, 2013 Missing Marney in the middle and we go into the busy festive season with no reinforcements. Marney was dead: to begin with.Very timely demise this Christmas season, longers!
blueboy3333 Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Interestingly (or not) we've only conceded 1 goal at home since the end of August. Kudos to Bowyer for that. We're still shyte away though. If he can sort that out we may threaten the play-offs.
Sparky Marky Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 By Yorkshire Post reporter Nick Westby Mickey Mellon tonight gave his thoughts on the dramatic events that have unfolded tonight at Oakwell. “I am a little mixed up about the situation to be honest” said Mellon. “I am crushed for Flicker, but the caretake job has got my juices flowing. David was probably a little punch drunk by the end, but it’s my job to get the core of the team right, and get some fizz back in our play. There’s no sour grapes from Flicker, he knows you get squashed in this game by poor results. He’ll have some time out and be enjoying his turkey and cranberry at Christmas when we’re all working! This club was the apple of his eye, and he’ll part on good terms, and I’m sure there will be no pithy comments from him." "I have the green light to bring in an assistant to help me, and I am talking to ex Leeds and England player Trevor Cherry about that. We’ll be looking at loan targets for January, but don’t expect players of the calibre of Aaron Lemon coming here. I am not listening to speculation on who the permanent manager will be, but I have some empathy with Michael Appleton.
Stuart Posted December 1, 2013 Author Posted December 1, 2013 Oy! Don't get fruity!! (I can't believe that it took me as far as the Aaron Lennon gag to click).
longsiders1882 Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 I've been making the most of it all season. I guess I'm lucky, I had no expectations this season so the start has been a massive bonus. Still need about 15-18 points for safety, once we've got them I can relax and enjoy the remainder of the season unfolding.
