Derby 3-0 up at Wigan after 30 mins. Just goes to show what a wasted opportunity that was when Hanley's foolishness cost us the game (and some decent momemtum at that time). Wigan have struggled a few times after playing in the Europa on thurs nights.

I've been making the most of it all season. I guess I'm lucky, I had no expectations this season so the start has been a massive bonus.

Still need about 15-18 points for safety, once we've got them I can relax and enjoy the remainder of the season unfolding.

I know what you mean, get to 50 points and games should take on a whole new meaning. Trouble with our lot it'll mean it's time to get the deck chairs out.

Wigan fans not happy with Coyle, I think they where expecting to bounce straight back into the Premier League. As we've seen before the Europa League is just too much combined with the Championship fixtures.

A few years in the big time has the fans believing they're a bigger club than they actually are. Their true level as a club is probably around League One or Two.

That and Coyle is increasingly looking like a one trick pony unable to replicate the success he had at Burnley anywhere else.

On Coyle, having seen him at his best with us I think leaving as he did, when he did, he lost his greatest asset as a manager. He preached a mantra of loyalty, players and fans alike bought into it. When he abandoned us he could no longer get the same buy in. He should have waited until the summer and, no matter what happened he could have left with that intact.

Not heard Coyle gone but Jol has in the Prem

It's the festive sacking season Longers. Fulham may be ready to stick their finger in the Dyche and appoint the mighty Sean.

Interesting. I'd be surprised if true, Whelan isn't a trigger happy chairman and the first season in the Championship is often difficult for teams like Wigan.

Whelan's had his moments. He was ultra-loyal to the managers that he thought had earned it, Bruce, Martinez and Jewell, but he wasn't the most patient in the lower divisions.

I don't like having a go at other clubs fans for being too critical about their manager or players, especially after the way other fans reacted to Kean. Having said that, I'm surprised that it's got to 'Coyle out' already. Anyone in that job would've had a big task to get them back to the top imo

I agree it's a bit early for 'Coyle Out', but at the same time, they did spend big in the summer....

Europa League has done them no favours at all !

Should play Monday, I know you have plenty of midweek games in this league, but very few early in the season.

Thankfully it appears not.

I'm not sure Coyle has much excuse, he's got a bigger squad than most in this league, or at least he has quality in depth. Not saying he should be running away with it but really should be comfortably top 6 IMO

We're not seeing them week in, week out. It might be blatantly obvious to the fans that it's not working, hence a 'Coyle out' sentiment.

That said it'll probably take a lot for me to think badly of any set of fans that are unhappy with their lot from now on. I'm more likely to err on the side of empathy.

The Scot was fuming about the reaction of some of Sunday’s crowd.

He said: “I will take what criticism comes my way. There is expectation at Wigan and there is a majority who are outstanding.

“But there is a section that is ultra-critical. We have already seen that in the treatment they give Jordi Gomez. We should all be sticking together.”

Minutes after Coyle spoke those words, he and Whelan – back from a holiday in Barbados – discussed the future and the 47-year-old's reign ended dramatically.

Sounds like Whelan didn't take well to Coyle having a pop at the fans. If only our owners had been that decisive with wee Stevie after the 1% nonsense.
