Siad Millwall would struggle (it's nice to get the odd one right!) A small squad and budget added to a novice manager is very rarely a good combination. Again, depending on who is appointed, this could make the Championship even tougher.

Also good to see QPR coming unstuck against some of the better teams in the division. Good to see money isn't enabling them to a walk in the park.

And a good result for Blackpool - drawing with Leeds - as they were on the slide. Another red card for them, their manager's really beginning to influence their play!

Broadfoot could have had 2 red cards if the ref didn't bottle it. 9 so far this season, so even the FA would wake up and investigate the club.

Goals seem to have somewhat dried up for us at the moment, down to third now - considering I started the season thinking anything above 22nd would be unlikely I don't think I've much to moan about. Just 3-5 more points needed for safety now.

Really bunching up at the top now as well, very tight. As ever January could well be critical in terms of signings and/or keeping hold of players. Doubt we will sign anybody but equally worried we'll get bids for a few - even if it's only the likes of QPR trying to weaken our squad!

Think you've got to much on to threaten the play offs now, a lot of teams to overtake. I still think Leicester for top 2, QPR at the moment I don't know so much - though I'm sure Harry will be wheeling and dealing in January. As for rest of top 6, hard to see Derby not making it now, so it looks like a fight between us, Forest, Ipswich, Leeds and Brighton for the last 3 top 6 spots - though of course one team often goes on a post Christmas run and forces their way in but right now that's how its looking to me.

The difference between our two teams is that if your lot don't get promotion, or make the lottery of playoffs, you can look back and say that you gave it your best shot. Everyone can look themselves in the mirror, congratulate themselves for working their gonads off, and admit that realistically budget, squad size and the depth of competition was just a bit too much,

Us on the other hand will be a case of what if? What if we'd appointed an experienced manager? What if we hadn't thrown away so many points? What if we'd given GB a better budget, or helped him with his signings with a DoF, or added more experience to the coaching staff? What if we'd signed an extra 1 or 2 quality players rather than the set of squad players we did? Looking back, if we don't make it, whilst Venkys are first and foremost to blame, even within that there's a whole lot of things we could do to make our very difficult chances of getting promotion much better.

Oh, and it's interesting to see QPR are coming unstuck against some of the top teams - they've lost to yourselves, Leicester, and Forrest. Against the bigger teams they're struggling. Oh, and it really hacks me off to see how they complain about having to play without a recognized centre forward and the depth of their squad, given that a) they had Zamora and Johnston on the bench and B) they've spent a ridiculous amount on wages and a have a premiership quality squad.

Ince's post match comments are classic. A few of his belters:

"If you keep getting that [booing], you can easily fall down the league and that's one thing I don't want."

Yep it's all down to the booing Paul, nothing to do with your poor tactics, discipline and man management.

"They shouldn't expect us to turn over teams like Brighton, Leeds, Derby, QPR and Burnley. These are teams that are much bigger than us financially."

One: I'm not sure that Blackpool fans are expecting "turning over" (i.e. hammering) anyone - a few wins and draws in the losses might be appreciated though.

Two: anyone can beat anyone in this league. So hoping for a win or two is not that much of an expectation.

Three: Burnley bigger than them financially. I'm no fan of the dingles but they've a much smaller budget. Also Leeds and Derby aren't exactly financial powerhouses either despite being big clubs historically. And Blackpool were in the Premiership much more recently than both.

Oh I agree Blue Blood - no matter what comes now I'm content with our work this season with just one caveat. If the board sell in January but don't seriously re-invest in players then I'll be unhappy. I can accept we are struggling for funds to add to the squad, however desperately it is needed, but to sell and give up on a shot at promotion via the play offs would be unforgivable.

On Ince - aye all that booing is what is causing the slip down the league, it's the same problem for us ...... (just getting the excuses in early ;-) )

When will we be getting an article from Oliver Holt implying the boos and criticsm of Ince are down to racism, I wonder?

Gotta love that 'article'. Poor old Ince had to cope with the sale if his best player. Was that Bentley who Ince alienated? Or Friedel, who he had previously alienated? Ince and his Big I Am 'tude are his own worst enemies.

i have to say when i read that article the 1st time, i didnt understand what Holt was on about. reading it again, and i still dont know what he was on about. it was just a series of questions, probably aimed at himself at the time, as i dont think that anybody actually bothered to answer any of those questions. that is what you really would call lazy journalism
