Ings?! why do we want that dingle kean! we need cairney to sign up!

Because he's arguably the best forward player in the league? Just a thought.

And I agree, I think Vokes would be a better partner for Rhodes - I doubt you can currently afford either (and that isn't a dig, simply a reflection on the value we would currently put on them)

As for QPR bidding, anything is possible but he's going to cost them considerably more than Austin did!

It is Tap Tap Redknapp after all Longsiders. He'll start by saying something like "That Ings looks a fantastic player, I'd love to have him in my team, but he doesn't play for me......." at a pre match conference. Then he'll get a friendly tabloid reporter to fabricate a rumour about a move, whilst perhaps having a word with his agent. At the same time he and his friends will be going down the bookies betting loads on a move to QPR, making the odds shorten. The agent works on Ings, seeking a pay off from the signing on fee (and possibly Harry's dog).

You get the idea.

nah i was just joking about Ings, i would prefer Lee Novak over Ings anyway to partner Rhodes. however with Gestede signed, think we wont go for another striker, unless we get rid of Campbell or Best or both

I think they call it conditioning.

I actually know fans who would swap promotion for beating your shower - if I was offered a 10-0 drubbing at your gaff but finishing top 2 right now I'd bite your hand off, really don't understand any other logic!

That really is insane isn't it. Either beat us and have a bit of east Lancs glory for a week, or pick up over £100m and the opportunity to play in the PL.

There's some very odd fans out there!

Well, that dispels the myth Holloway wouldn't have taken the Rovers job if offered it.

Why? He's not here is he?

Cracking appointment for Millwall, from Holloway's point of view you'd think he could have got something a bit better if he'd hung on.

Not really. Holloway's issues were, from recollection, with one or both of Shebby and Shaw. Considering both are still at the club in some capacity I think it would have been highly unlikely Holloway would have turned up here.

Millwall are hardly a big club or a club with any ambition so that fact he's gone there shows he would have taken any job in the championship. If he had a choice between Rovers or Millwall do you think he'd pick Millwall? No chance.

He lived up north when manager of Blackpool so I don't think that would have been a problem for him.

He's gone to a club like Millwall yet you seriously think he would have turned down Rovers?

Millwall have a more stable structure than we do tbh. We don't even have a board ffs, everything's done by a bloke who used to sell shelves for a living.

Perhaps I should have been clearer. I was referring to when Holloway was linked with us earlier this season when, supposedly, Bowyer was under pressure. Some said that Holloway wouldn't consider Rovers. I think that fact he's gone to Millwall shows he was desperate for any job and would have taken over any championship team.

Last season, I'm not convinced he would have left Blackpool to join us which seems to be what some people thought I meant.

Big Championship weekend coming up. Every club above us bar Burnley has a tough game. If we beat Donny it would put us right in the thick of it come 5pm Saturday.

  • Sheff Wed v Leeds 12:15
  • Blackburn v Doncaster 15:00
  • Blackpool v Middlesbrough 15:00
  • Bolton v Nottm Forest 15:00
  • Brighton v Birmingham 15:00
  • Charlton v Barnsley 15:00
  • Huddersfield v Millwall 15:00
  • Ipswich v QPR 15:00
  • Watford v Reading 15:00
  • Wigan v Bournemouth 15:00
  • Yeovil v Burnley 15:00

Not sure there is such a thing as an easy game - and if there is I am confident we (Burnley) can conspire to lose it!

We really need points from the next 2 because they are followed by Brighton and QPR! We then again have 2 games where we need to pick up points because after Millwall and Bournemouth we have a tough 3 fixtures - Forest and Derby at home and some other team away.

Definitely into the cut and thrust of the season now, I look at the fixtures coming up and find it hard to believe we can stay top 6!

I am quietly confident of us pushing on in the second of the season and hopefully a good January can set us up nicely for at least a playoff spot.

there was an element of rebuilding going on in the first half of the year and I think with Cairney now on board, Robbo back in nets organising the back 4 and Rhodes banging them in its all looking a lot brighter for us.

nice little article here about Rhodes and Cairney mainly: http://www.squawka.com/news/2014/01/07/jordan-rhodes-central-to-blackburns-promotion-charge/2014010751222
