OJRovers Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Not sure there is such a thing as an easy game - and if there is I am confident we (Burnley) can conspire to lose it! We really need points from the next 2 because they are followed by Brighton and QPR! We then again have 2 games where we need to pick up points because after Millwall and Bournemouth we have a tough 3 fixtures - Forest and Derby at home and some other team away. Definitely into the cut and thrust of the season now, I look at the fixtures coming up and find it hard to believe we can stay top 6! I think for most teams in this league your destiny in this league is in your own hands, in that anyone who can put some form and consistency together has a chance of top 6. In the premier league, however well some of the lower teams play, they are never going to challenge the top teams even on an off-day. Burnley seem to have a nice cushion between 7th place, so top 6 should be achievable for you. However, the problem is that you want to be on-the-up going into play-offs rather than struggling. Don't think we could cope with a Burnley/Rovers playoff game!

Other teams have tough games though not just yourself You've seen recently you had a really poor run and ended it no worse than you started
Plastics Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 With Burnley, playing a near, if not full strength team in the cup could prove costly, but that's the drawback of having such a small squad. Would have been difficult not to go so strong. I'm not so sure they will regain the kind of form they saw early in the season given the depth at their disposal and the gruelling length of a lower tier season. I can't remember the last time their form was top 2 stuff. Fingers crossed at least a couple of the other three teams close to them find a bit of form (or Derby maintain theirs), just so they can get automatic promotion out of their minds and their confidence may then crumble.

I guess your season will be defined between now and Feb 1 Longers both in context of fixtures and the window. I don't know what the odds are (Mercerman help out) but I think it would be a decent punt on Rovers and Burnley both featuring in the play offs. That being the case, whatever the outcome, it will have been a decent season for both compared to last.

Lurid Coat Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 wow, is that Chopra account for real on twitter? Having a crazy go at the club, or at least the wya its been run. not sure if that is real or not though, but if it is, then cannot see him playing for them again It is indeed real - can't blame Chopra for laying into Ince's outdated training methods, though http://www.teamtalk.com/news/2483/9105482/Michael-Chopra-hit-with-maximum-fine-after-criticising-Blackpool-training
donnermeat Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Well at least Ollie Holt won't be able to call him a racist.
Proudtobeblue&white Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 At Burnley last week speaking to a Dingle, said they'd sold 1,200 tickets for Yeovil......must have been given them for Xmas free by the club?
Al Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 At Burnley last week speaking to a Dingle, said they'd sold 1,200 tickets for Yeovil......must have been given them for Xmas free by the club?Probably counted on his fingers!
Guest Norbert Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25647507 That'll be Blackpool going down the table then. Or Ince Snr. being sacked soon.
darrenrover Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Just looking through our remaining fixture list and the current league table, of the current top half, we have only Forest and Reading still to play away. Leicester, Burnley, QPR, Derby, Ipswich, Brighton, Wigan and Blackpool are all due at Ewood in the second half of the season. If it truly can be 'fortress Ewood' we should have a great shout for the play offs at least.
ABBEY Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Why is everyone obsessed with playoffs ? I take it most have never experienced them . They are the most awful things ever. I said after we won at Wembley I never ever want to experience them or my kids experience them . Win or lose they scramble your head.
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted January 8, 2014 Moderation Lead Posted January 8, 2014 I can only assume it's to do with them thinking automatic is unachievable, I agree- I hate them as well. Automatic far more preferable.
longsiders1882 Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 I know what you mean Darren, I think we must still have all the top half teams to play - after all we've only been at the top because 'we haven't played anybody' ;-) Once again the Championship is looking to be set for another exciting second half to the season - the play offs really help though, keeps interest for almost half the league until well into March usually!
Amo Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Rather finish 10th than play offs Well that's just silly.
Majiball Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Well that's just silly. Could you repeat that please? Sorry I was too busy staring at your avatars lovely boobs (again) http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25650831 6M in 3 months but how with FFP?
Plastics Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Rather finish 10th than play offs What do you do when you go to a football game, or watch one on tv? What do you take from it? What goes through your mind? Which bits do you enjoy? Which bits do you dislike? Which bits do you understand? Which bits don't you understand? Do you face in the right direction?
RevidgeBlue Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Obviously I'd rather go up automatically than risk the Russian roulette of the playoffs, but I have to say I love them. They're so tense they make just about any other game seem like a pre season friendly in comparison.
Backroom Tom Posted January 8, 2014 Backroom Posted January 8, 2014 Burnley in the playoffs would just be ridiculous
RevidgeBlue Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Burnley in the playoffs would just be ridiculous It's written in the stars surely.
FGS5635 Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Burnley in the playoffs would just be ridiculous Good luck policing that if its the playoff final
donnermeat Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Don't think my heart could take Burnley in the playoffs
Kie_BRFC Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 I think I would be physically sick during a play off final between rovers and burnley. As if a normal game isn't tense enough, imagine the dingles ending the 35 year record at wembley
