they have ruined the Club ; it is a shadow of what it still ought to be

I agree. I foresaw all this Nov 2010 amidst a froth of excitement on here and it has come to pass. However if we still want BRFC and unless a miracle happens it is them and only them that can repair the damage now.

yep agree Abbey....Prudent investment?? Competence at Board level?? we are losing fortunes still ,no matter which way its dressed up and we 've ended up with a team that is mid table Championship and no more. There is nothing to suggest that we will have a better chance next year or ever actually when you consider the advantage we had under our 2 years parachute money being p1ssed away.

they have ruined the Club ; it is a shadow of what it still ought to be and in the absence of any words from anywhere about where this is all heading it never ceases to amaze that people are thinking its on the mend and we are getting to grips with it all.

Moving from a decent mid table PL Club to a cancer ridden , sub standard Championship side has been ''achieved,'' at a cost of tens of millions and decimating the fan base and general interest in the Club from the Town.

They have been a disaster, remain a disaster and show no signs of being anything else.We are stacked up on a heap of debt that will implode at any time.

Good post. Lest we forget etc. What you are describing is called the rule of optimism. It is often said to be at work, where professionals fail to act in areas like child abuse.

Indeed .. Reported losses of 2/3 million a month . I will give venkys due and respect on one thing . The dupees have duped and brainwashed many a rovers fan .

Was those losses not last season ?

As for brainwashing - some prefer to look forward rather than back. Personally I am somewhere inbetween - they have largely destroyed the club - but at the moment they are the only thing keeping us out of administration (and yes - I know it is their fault we are in the position we are in). At the moment - they are keeping out of the equation, making sensible decisions - and backing the manager. GB has regained some pride - we have a team that (on the whole) plays with pride and dedication - it is one of the youngest teams we have had for years - and for once we have players like Cairney, Rhodes, Evans, Hanley, Henley, Marshall etc where there is genuine hope for the future. Yes it can all come unstuck if they withdraw finance - we could be undone by FFP - but I would prefer to concentrate on the good job that Bower is doing.

Bowyer is doing ok. Trying is best. A good bloke. The people cleaning the decks on the Titanic kept it spic and span. The band played a nice melody...you know the rest.

Just a couple of minor considerations then? The finance? The only thing we know for certain is that we have huge debts and are very probably still making losses of at least a million a month. The FFP, according to Shaw will mean a transfer ban next season. That must point to this season being vital, mustn't it? How can Bowyer improve this current squad next season, under those conditions?

As SG said earlier, every season in this league makes it harder to get out of.

IMO.

The problem with looking forward is that I personally can't see anything other than decline and eventual death for this club. In the current status quo that would be steady and slow decline over a few years and if there is a dramatic change it may come quicker.

Yes. Bottom line is that you can't build a football club on unrecoverable debt. That can only go on for so long.

No way is this a perfect situation and whats done is done. We have been holed badly beneath the water. So the only question is....... who is hell bent on going down with the ship and who is making for the lifeboats?

Or who wants the captain tossing overboard to the sharks

Not being funny but have you links to them not losing money hand over fist ..sensible decisions means not bringing in a player that is once again going to split the fans in half again.

I struggle to think of any player that GB has brought in - that at least some of the fans initially moaned about.

It would seem we haven't got much spare cash, so a transfer ban would be no big deal. Most people keep saying that we have a reasonable squad, so it's up to the manager and his staff to get the best out of them. If they are not good enough. so be it.

Serious question on this - when the season kicked off who would you have swapped with a member of the Burnley squad? I recall a few discussions where the general feeling was nobody maybe other than Trippier

You may be right, but what are youactually basing this on? I hope you are right, but the fact is zilch communication means we just don't know. When did they learn? Before Shebby Singh...when Kean and Anderson had already taken us down? After Snowballgate?

"Zilch communication" is actually a sign they are learning. Every time they spoke in the past I groaned and wished they'd remain silent. They've figured this out and now the supposed club professionals speak. In my book, that's a big improvement.

The Captain jumped ship long ago, shortly followed by his little deckhand Kean. Don't forget, there was only one man meant to be steering this ship and he made for the lifeboats way before the ship hit the iceberg, he just ensured it was unavoidably on on course to do so.

I didn't want you to have Jones thats for sure...... Oh and I'd have taken the kit man and tea lady in a straight swap for Danny Murphy and Dixon Etohu.

I guess it all points to Dyche doing a fine job for you. Another bonus for you is that he looks and speaks like a lower league manager.

Shooting your mouth off is a threat to the reputation of the club..Agreed.

Failure to communicate ( apologies to Captain in Cool hand Luke) is just a different problem/threat IMO. That one comes under the heading:" Absence of leadership" and contributes to disengagement of fans, loss of those previously loyal to the brand and loss of finance.

He would have been one of those who dressed in women's clothes to bag a place in the lifeboats. Actually, I have decided Anderson was more White Star Line itself. than a mere officer of the ship.

Yes it would though. Any player with any ambition would be off like a shot and we'd be unable to replace them. We have a team in Edinburgh who have a transfer embargo, look at the SPL table to see the results.

Whilst Bowyer speaks like Steve 'interesting' Davis.

I think the club is communicating just fine - news about the club and players appears within a reasonable timeframe and the only people being quoted are based in Blackburn. That said it would be nice to know that the owners have the will and means to keep us solvent in the longer term but unfortunately whatever they say now will be ridiculed, dismantled and rejected by many based (justifiably one could argue) on the shambles that was their takeover and the apparent contradictions between actions and words - their credibility is totally shot and (imo) it is better that they keep quiet for at least another 18 months.

I knew i wasn't the only one that watched Spitting Image - ah the chicken song still brings back memories...

Haven't the owners already said, though the club (IIRC) that they'll fund us through this year and then re-evaluate in May? Or am I mistaken?
