ABBEY Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 Spot on. Yet some on here had him as the Anti Venkys/Kean/Anderson resistance poster boy. Deluded doesn't cover it. And knowitAll fan of the year goes to...

Clitherover Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 According to Dundee United manager Peter Houston (who?), Rovers ruined David Goodwillie. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/blackburn-rovers-ruined-david-goodwillie-2049470? No Peter, David ruined himself by being a porky, penguin footed donkey who couldn't cut it in a superior league or even the one below that!
JAL Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 How much is all of this clearout costing Rovers in money.

No Peter, David ruined himself by being a porky, penguin footed donkey who couldn't cut it in a superior league or even the one below that! Spot on. I just couldn't believe it when I first saw him.Certain lifestyle issues being brushed under the carpet. After all it wasn't Rovers who were in court for a sex offence or an assault.. Rovers ruined my life, but NOT Goodwillie's!!

92er Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 Dundee United, he is their manager. Nowt to do with Dundee. Correct. Houston makes the point that Goodwilie has played predominantly on the wing. When I've seen him there he has looked very uncomfortable and basically can't play that role. I'm not sure he can make it down here in that role, but it's difficult to argue he's been given a real chance.
JAL Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 Find it a very strange move by Gary Bowyer to move Goodwillie out, that is, if, it was GB who moved him out.

Play him as a centre forward and he will score goals." Just so long as he doesn't have to head the ball. Worst Rovers player in the air since John Butcher left.
T.J.Newton Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 How much is all of this clearout costing Rovers in money. 87p
john.leigh Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Hope Goodwillie DOES prove us all wrong and gets a bag full of goals. That way we can either get a decent fee for him if he leaves, or bring him back full of confidence and in form. Whichever way you look at it only a fool would want DG to flop up there. Would be bad outcome for Rovers

Like so many others he will have come because there was a financial incentive for someone ? for us to sign him.
Ricky Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 I think the goodwillie signing is actually one of the less suspect ones. He was very highly rated up there. Scored a decent number of goals with one or two special ones thrown in (overhead kick in the cup game). Hopefully he'll go up there and do very well and we'll get a decent return on him.
rhodie Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 How much is all of this clearout costing Rovers in money. Jal, I don`t think we should look at the money as being a negative , but rather at removing negative attitudes and influences from the dressing room as being priceless.
savage90 Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Bearing in mind Goodwillie was signed to play in the Premier League, and he can't even score goals in the Championship... laughable signing.
thenodrog Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Bearing in mind Goodwillie was signed to play in the Premier League, and he can't even score goals in the Championship... laughable pitiful signing. Corrected for you sav.
SoldierMo Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 I still think Goodie had summat to offer us as last few games did show
Tyke87 Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 How many times did he actually play upfront for us? I'm not claiming he'd have been great but he was never given a fair shot IMO so for me we'll never know what he could have done.
thenodrog Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 He can't run, he certainly can't head a ball, his control is poor. He is a bit of a bruiser in the box and thats it. This stuff reminds me of the posters who all thought Jon Stead was a Prem league player cos he'd had a bit of a hot streak and that Hughes when he dropped him knew nowt and all JS needed was a proper run in the team. I assume they've piped down somewhat and slunk off somewhere.

Rover_Shaun Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Scores of members also said Berg and Appleton would do ok
