roversR4ever Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 He is simply our best defender. Was the rumour correct that his wages were cut when we were relegated because of his contract and he wasn't happy about it? This of course was when we were no doubt paying massive wages to Murphy, Peds etc He should have been handled better and should be in the team now.

Roverthechimp Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 I don't believe anyone could criticise the previous owner's tenure given what's gone on since they moved on. Lets be realistic, they got left something that they didn't want in their fathers will, ran it very well and above expectation (mine) for a decade and when the financial heat became too much in the kitchen they sold out with the club in as healthy a situation as could reasonably be expected. Funny how the corrupt and obviously crooked events taking place over the following couple of years after the sale appear to be fading from some peoples memories. They haven't faded much from mine. I havn't forgotten anything. Williams made it very clear that with the policy the club implemented then relegation would be devastating. This is not a criticisim merely that the key to having that policy was staying in the premier league - something that for whatever reason (naive/crooked/stupidity) the new owners took rather too lightly. Many clubs have been relegated after carefully "planning" for it and for them it has not been the end of the world. Likewise clubs that followed a high wage policy (pompey, leeds) were well and truly screwed - just like us. I was not criticising the previous regime merely pointing out that when our naive/crooked/stupid friends arrived then the wage levels were already established at an artificially high level for a club of our size. This was the one of the reasons for our success but also a factor in our current problem.
bennyboyt11 Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 We really don't go to the same games do we ? Oops silly me. What's that got to do with what he was saying?
Roverthechimp Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 They deserve it in EVERY thread FOREVER. Klc = kean lovin crew by any chance? Yep
T.J.Newton Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 I thought givets problems went right back to some dodgy agreements made at the time he signed his 1st permanent contract with us(under sam)
ABBEY Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 What's that got to do with what he was saying?Because I judge what I see at games , not what's wrote on here .
RevidgeBlue Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 No-one can deny that at his best Givet is a talented player. That doesn't however give him carte blanche to mess the Club about or hold it to ransom. Reading between the lines it appears some time ago he was happy to sign a new contract with a relegation clause in assuming it would never be activated. Then when push came to shove he wasn't happy about playing for the reduced sum. Well tough. Now it appears the Club are trying to accomodate Givet by allowing him to move for nothing so he can go elsewhere and play. Yet he still isn't happy and seemingly wants paying off. Whilst he might be technically entitled to demand this it would seem to me that a bit of give and take is sensible in a situation like this and at this stage of his career if he'd rather sit there doing nothing on high wages than play that tells us all we need to know about his character.
tomphil Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 I thought givets problems went right back to some dodgy agreements made at the time he signed his 1st permanent contract with us(under sam) There was the 50k in cash he was instructed to hand to a bloke who picked him up when he signed for Rovers, then there was a tax issue he said the club had agreed to pay then the relegation clause issue. All a bit mirky with our Gael it seems. Maybe he's been another victim of dodgy advice or maybe this is the norm with a lot of players and he's the only one to strop about it in public. Either way if someone was to pay good coin for Dann i'd give Givet a new contract to stay. Not without his flaws but head and shoulders better than the rest when he's up for it like his first few seasons.
Amo Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 You could say the same about players like Cantona and Di Canio Topman, difference is they eventually had managers that could handle the player, it was better to have them in your side than in someone elses.[/size] ..and what about the likes of Ince, Heinze, Tevez, even Roy Keane? They all departed OT under a cloud despite having one of the best in the business managing them. Sometimes it doesn't matter who's in the hotseat once a player gets it into his head that his fate lies elsewhere. Givet's made it very clear what his stance is towards the club... va te faire enculer! Because I judge what I see at games , not what's wrote on here . All those games Givet has skipped, you mean? Derp.
Baz Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 So, wheres the evidence that he has sulked, refused to play etc? I've never seen any. I saw quotes where he was very unhappy as he wasnt playing, to which when the players keeping you out are Hanley, Dann and the likes of Josh Lowe at LB (where Givet has played for France), i can say he knows he is better than. All I can assume, from others frozen out in past 2&1/2 years is that its more likely he isnt playing because his wages are high. As Abbey says, good enough for Serie A, but not good enough for championship. Can people honestly not see it was the same with Nelson, Salgado, Diouf, Dunn, Robbo, Roberts and a few others too? Would you sooner have a team of Samba's, Nzonzi, Dioufs & Givets, or Jason Lowes?

The reason he won't go is because nobody is offering him anything like the money he is on here and possibly very low wages at Livorno but the obvious lure of Serie A. If he was our best defender then you'd have thought his next move would be for comparable wages. I'd like to bet Scott Dann isn't taking a pay cut when he leaves.
Baz Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Do you really think Givet is worse than any one of Markus Olsson, Josh Morris, Adam Henley, Hanley or Dann? The answer is obviously that he's better than most of the above if not all to me, so what is the real reason he wasnt playing? "Injury" that mysteriously cleared the instant we had no other CH's available, "attitude" that was never a problem before (and ive see no evidence to support), or the wages when he played? Using the evidence of the last 2.5 years the most likely answer is his wages. As a football club, you should always try to keep, and play, your better players. 2.5 years of getting rid of our better players, and yet people still cannot see this.
JBiz Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Hold the party folks but; BBC Lancashire@BBCLancashire1m David Dunn says losing BradleyOrr would be a big loss for Blackburn, he fears the defender mightleave due to a lack of support from fans. Does Bradley realise that its his own fault? Thats what happens when you go on live TV and defend the indefensible and slag off fans(after being at the club for 3 months)

Thats what happens when you go on live TV and defend the indefensible and slag off fans(after being at the club for 3 months) These two seem to be best mates. Orr is always on twitter saying how much Dunn is making him laugh. I don't believe for a second that Dunn actually thinks Orr would be any kind of loss, just helping out a mate
The Rover of Finland Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Orr is not number 2 anymore. Also Givet and Formica were given big numbers. http://www.rovers.co.uk/news/article/new-season-new-numbers-945299.aspx
thenodrog Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Orr is not number 2 anymore. He is in my estimation. btw ..... something might get lost in the translation between here and Suomi.
bennyboyt11 Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Robinson at number 1 still, he needs to move on.
T.J.Newton Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Givet to Livorno deal collapsed apparently, now he just wants paying off no questions asked, warrior my arse hed just another parasite.
The Rover of Finland Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 He is in my estimation. btw ..... something might get lost in the translation between here and Suomi. No, I get it. Robinson at number 1 still, he needs to move on. He is injured and won´t be back for few months. He will be here until January for sure.

JBiz Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Does anyone remember what Scott Danns Number was last year?

Also Givet and Formica were given big numbers. http://www.rovers.co.uk/news/article/new-season-new-numbers-945299.aspx lol.. christ man you should know better than to look at those numbers, jeez if we line up the first team according to that we would have a midfield made up of King, Dunn and MGP with Lowe at right back and three bloomin strikers.

Rover_Shaun Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Does anyone remember what Scott Danns Number was last year? Not off the top of my head. Though many an opposition striker had it
