Lots of noises in Norwegian media today about Gamst after he was left out of the squad yesterday.

They are saying there are turkish clubs monitoring his situation.

This is by far our best bet. Both Fenerbache and Galatasaray have a history of bringing ageing players from premier league to Turkey and they can afford the wages.

Norwegian TV2 mentions that he is one of the best paid players in Rovers p.d.

Unfortunately he looks like he has to go.

You think he's good enough, but would sell him because of his wages - which you know nothing about? How odd.

Well I can have an educated guess Einstein. Or is that no longer allowed in the big BRFCS elite point scoring game? What is the league table looking like?

He is not good enough for the starting 11, but probably has wages suggesting he is. So either he goes or takes a pay cut.

Einstein? League table? Elite point scoring game? What's that about?

To my simple mind, if a player is good enough we should want to keep him. If he isn't, we should sell him. Basing things on speculated wages (not "educated guesses") is just plain daft. Rhodes will be on top money, would you sell him? Your answer will no doubt along the lines of him being a better player - which is my entire point.

Its a result business Den and what you do should be compared to your wages. In that case if you are only a squad player or on the brink of the first team you should not be paid the same as an instrumental player or do you not agree with that ?

When you have a heavily bloated wage bill Den value for money is a big deal. Nobody really knows what sort of money he really is on but I think it's fair to suggest that he is one of our highest earners on the wage books considering his reputation based on past experiences. If Pedersen is going to spend the majority of his time on the bench or out of the match day squad then he's dead money on the books. That's just looking at it from a financial position.

If you look at it from a playing point of view then I think you could make a strong argument that he isn't good enough anymore. The guy can't play on the wing anymore due to a combination of a decline in pace (he was never quick in the first place) and inconsistent crossing from out wide. People think that because Allardyce played him week in week out in a central midfield role that he could just play there instead but he was far from consistent there and didn't look like a natural. But everyone knows the real reason why Allardyce had to keep him in the team, his free kicks (again his ability has declined over the years but he did put in the occasional good set piece) and his long throws.

Overall I think it was a mistake to sign him to a new deal in 2010 when we had the chance to cut loose. The fact that no club's were interested in taking on a player with vast Premier League experience on a free transfer speaks volumes on how much the player had declined. We do have a deep problem at this club where sometimes sentimentality and hearts ruling over heads has added to the financial burden, you saw that this season once again when Dunn was given a new deal.

I think it could be good for both parties if Pedersen does move on, the player can start a new challenge which can be refreshing and the club can ease the burden on the wage bill or bring in a new talent to develop.

I personally think squad players in the championship need to be either youth players or players on relatively low wages, e.g Taylor, etc.

Having someone like MGP on the bench makes little financial sense. If Rhodes was a squad player I would say the same thing.

They were poor but the worst left sided player that I can recall in 50 years was that little lad who came on loan from Hull at the end of last season.

Odd too that MGP is in but Myles Anderson isn't in your list Rev. You are displaying a rather irrational hatred of Morton imo.

And can we have your opinion on Dunny too?

For me Morten Gamst Pedersen has a playing future at the club.

Hes an asset to the team as he can be put into certain positions in certain games and change a game with a single shot or free kick. Anyone dismissing him just dont think you can play football to be able understand the qualities that he has and that he can bring to the team.

Yes, I know that and in some ways agree with you. My argument is with the often aired view that all the higher wage earners have to go. The bottom line is that the individual wages aren't a problem - it's the overall annual wage bill that matters to the club. There are plenty of squad players signed over the last couple of years who will never play for us again who need to be moved on in order to lower the wage bill. People wanting rid of Pedersen because they think he's not good enough any more, have a valid point. However, to bring his wages into the formula, isn't.

Basically, reduce your wage bill by removing the worst players, not the most expensive.

All very trivial I admit.
