RockinRover Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 I'm not even going to argue about what Dunn has said and done in the past because he loves and cares for the club and if you're disputing that then you're obviously ignoring all the good things he's done. My problem with Pedersen is that he's capable of so much more but it's got to the point now where he can literally only break up play and do some set pieces here and there. Fair enough we have players who don't do much more but they're on considerably smaller wages than Morten. I'd be fine with Pedersen if he managed to get the simple things like short passes right but for the last few seasons he hasn't, he simply isn't good enough for the Prem or Championship anymore so we need to get rid.

den Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 we have to meet the FFP rules, so with Pedersen on around 30k a week and NOT a first team regular or even on the bench then we have to look to sell/get rid of Pedersen.]Nothing to do with FFP rules Chaddy. Venky's came in with a plan that involved getting rid of anyone at the club on high wages - JW and TF included. They had a flirt with putting a bit more cash in when they saw it was last chance saloon, but now they're back to type.

We have far too many players at the club, and since Pedersen is on the periphery, it makes perfect sense to offload him and his wages. Amo Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Bowyer obviously wanted Dunny to stay. Nah, it's all about the asset stripping or something. To suggest Venky's had a "plan" to begin with is giving them too much credit.
SoldierMo Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 I honestly dont think venkys ever had a plan, they dived into football with eyes shut and were ill advised through the whole process and leeches came and stuck to them for various reasons...over the summer either miss silk or Bowyer himself has opened their eyes to a few home truths
thenodrog Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 More likely Singh. I doubt they'd listen to Silk and Bowyer cos they never listened to anybody at board level previously did they? I'd imagine Singh was a go-between messenger who they trusted.
JonnyBRFC Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Shame Formica and Givet's moves collapsed, going to be very difficult to move on. I would prefer them to move than Peds. Anyone have any news on the out-goings? Our squad is huge and I fail to see how, going forward, we can comply with the financial play rules without selling some assets.
SoldierMo Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 How about Venkys venkys other companys buy something frm us say a player or an asset for say 10mill then put it back into the name of Rovers for free...i honestly think the FFP has alot of loopholes which teams like rovers should use jus like Watford do
Guest Norbert Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 David Dunn could be bought by the the fried chicken shop part then which may seem appropriate to some.

On the plus side both are out of contract at the end of the season. So that makes Formica, Peds, Givet and Dunn who will be out of contract at the end of the season so this will reduce our wage bill considerably.
Andy Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Wow, so because he supported Kean once and is friends with Bradley Orr, David Dunn is now the enemy? I truly can't stand this forum sometimes. David Dunn is the kind of person we want to keep around this club. It's heart has been torn out enough already, if we lose people like Dunn then all that's left is us and we already feel distanced enough. Dunn's actions and words in the last few seasons have done more damage to the club and fanbase than good. Staunch support of the indefensible walking ballbag that was Kean, criticism of the fans and telling them to 'get real', completely ignoring the real problems at the club and speaking favourably on the owners with the sole intention of getting himself continued employment at the club. Is Dunn a Rovers fan? Yeah. Does he put his own selfish needs and agenda before any kind of good of the club? All day long.
Brad Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Shoot me down, but I believe we should move Rhodes on.. Not needed as just frustrated the way we keep shaping up!!!
RockinRover Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Another off the wage bill. http://www.rovers.co.uk/news/article/goalkeeper-departs-978779.aspx
T.J.Newton Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Shoot me down, but I believe we should move Rhodes on.. Not needed as just frustrated the way we keep shaping up!!! I feel same, if where not looking to seriously chalange for auto promotion then hes just a luxury we could do without(we ould find somebody for a 3rd of his value and salary to get us 10-20 goals in this league) and i think best and dj(when fit) will score goals and contribute more to the team
RevidgeBlue Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Another off the wage bill. http://www.rovers.co.uk/news/article/goalkeeper-departs-978779.aspx I think it's a huge shame we couldn't add Sandomierski to the squad. I think with him and Kean we'd have had 2 excellent young keepers. Not sure I'm liking what I hear about Eastwood and can't see Robbo playing for us again. One game into the season without a goal and some people want shut of the guy who netted 28 last season. I would actually expect him to be just as prolific this season one he gets going with the likes of Taylor and Judge providing the ammo.
SoldierMo Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Get rid off rhodes?? You mad??? And replace him with who??

Would just 10 goals have saved us from league one last season? I doubt it.
RibbleValleyRover Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Get rid off rhodes?? You mad??? And replace him with who?? Some 7' 2" striker built like a brick keanhouse who can hold up the ball and set up goal scoring opportunities for our plethora of free scoring midfielders. Oh wait...

Sorry cocker but yours is the knee jerk reaction, Im not knocking rhodes as a goalscorer, thats not the point being made,And its not last season.
SoldierMo Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 By selling Rhodes you giving up all hope for promotion
Parsonblue Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 By selling Rhodes you giving up all hope for promotion How many goals did Rhodes score last season? Where did we finish? Cardiff's top scorers had 8 goals each. The discussion is a valid one in that a goalscorer on his own will not achieve promotion, particularly a player like Rhodes who requires others to create the chances for him. The main issue I would have with selling Rhodes is that we are unlikely to get what we paid for him. For me his game has too many flaws that need addressing for a Premier League club to pay top money for him. £4 or £5 million and you might, just might gamble on him. However, the sort of club he is likely to attract in the Premier League would probably be reluctant to pay that for him. However, if he has a poor season with the Rovers this year then his value will drop considerably more. If someone did offer £5 million and if the whole amount was invested in the team there is a chance we could be stronger as a unit. In twelve months time if we are still in the Championship I have no doubt he will be sold for whatever we can get to simply get him off the wage bill.

How many goals did Rovers score last season and how many were not scored by Rhodes?
