bob fleming Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Instead of being the next Batistuta he turned out nearer to being an Argentinian version of Paul Calf. We did well to get £600k back. That'll be Steve Kean getting his comedians and footballers mixed up again. He really was a first class keanwit wasn't he.

eire3382 Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Still hate newcastle Personally always hated spurs, the club and fans.
alexanders Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Gamst on his way to Danish Football according to his agent. Most likely FC Copenhagen
thenodrog Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Not good enough for the money - would have been worth a gamble at £1m - but the money we paid was way over the top. He was way too slow for a striker in the Premier League. Pace cannot be coached. The Venkymob will have dropped another bundle on him. Cant think why they didn't leave Sam and JW in charge and just write a cheque out for £10m to Dastardly and Muttley and then @#/? em off down the road. Everybody would have been happy with that and the club would be much better placed. Gamst on his way to Danish Football according to his agent. Most likely FC Copenhagen If so then I wish him well.
RockinRover Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 If Gamst is gone with Formica leaving I bet our outgoings on the wages front looks miles better. Just need rid of Etuhu and Givet (if he stills wants out) and we'll be much healthier financially. Plus if we get rid of Orr and Rosado the squad will look a lot tidier.
RibbleValleyRover Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 We really overpaid for Formica especially in agents fees. It also certainly didn't help him at all that the worst manager in our history called him the next Batigol, talk about putting pressure on a new signing... All the best to him, it didn't work out for him here but I hope it will at his new club.
broadsword Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Not good enough for the money - would have been worth a gamble at £1m - No, he really wouldn't.

I would think that Gamst will be joining another club with a big Rovers' pay-off as his wages with a new club (assuming Danish) will be very substantially less than those at Rovers. Could cost £750ishk just to ship him out !
RockinRover Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Well if he's going to FC Copenhagen that's a Champions League team with 30+ thousand going to watch their games. I'd say they're in a far better position to take his wages on than we are.
Backroom Tom Posted August 16, 2013 Backroom Posted August 16, 2013 We'll still end up paying him off Its just the way it is now
JAL Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Never good enough I'm afraid. The sight of Formica chasing after the Everton full back in the pre season friendly was like a toddler trying to keep up with his parent. Wonder how many millions did the cartel cream out of Blackburn Rovers football club with this one.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 MGP won't want a pay-off, he loves the club.
thenodrog Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 We really overpaid for Formica especially in agents fees That has a familiar ring to it.
dingles staying down 4ever Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 I'm afraid that Rovers are going to have to pay up more contracts to clear the high earners or they are stuck with them. More agent fees will also be claimed as we look to shift these players out. Even cutting this deadwood will take any budget and may even cause players who we don't want to sell leave.
Mercer Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 MGP won't want a pay-off, he loves the club. I think MGP loves money even more - charity usually begins at home !
dingles staying down 4ever Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 I think MGP loves money even more - charity usually begins at home ! If he moves, he'll get money. If he stays he gets his high wages His agent and himself will be quids in either way.
Waggy76 Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 If he moves, he'll get money. If he stays he gets his high wages His agent and himself will be quids in either way. That maybe be so , but he is a far better footballer than Lowe ,Marrow ,Taylor and Judge ...
thenodrog Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 If he moves, he'll get money. If he stays he gets his high wages His agent and himself will be quids in either way. Quite right too cos somebody from the club must have signed his contract off..... whilst ignoring any possibility of relegation.
Steve Kean's Hypnotoad Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 That maybe be so , but he is a far better footballer than Lowe, Marrow, Taylor and Judge ... Know its harsh feeling this way but it cheers me up hearing someone else say that. I thought I was going mad at the start of the season thinking a guy who'd played in League 1 most of his career was not gonna be an improvement on a guy who played in the PL most of his career. There's only 7 years between them in age for christ's sake. Had Judge pegged as a try-hard, produce-nothing type player after seeing him against Preston pre-season. Thankfully it seems other people are finding him out quite rapidly and he won't be irritatingly raved about all season as he has been so far.
RevidgeBlue Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 Quite right too cos somebody from the club must have signed his contract off..... whilst ignoring any possibility of relegation. That must have been St. John musn't it given he signed hs current contract in 2010! Any good news on MGP's departure to cheer us up or have Copenhagen realised all the footage of him doing decent stuff dates back to c2006?
Steve Kean's Hypnotoad Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 Indeed Revidge, we don't want the possible involvement of Pedersen to upset our superb start to the season. After revelling in midfield dominance in every match so far, the one area we need to improve upon is not the midfield. We have a wealth of top flight experience and proven quality and it would be futile trying to change that. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

SoldierMo Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 Well it certainly didnt last year, dont get me wrong think hes still as useful squad member but no way can he be the fix
Steve Kean's Hypnotoad Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 Do you think Pedersens inclusion would fix our midfield? No, wasn't saying that. But could he be an improvement starting in certain games or coming off the bench in others, absolutely. For me there's too many fans buying into the cost-cutting measures Venkys apparently have to do. Venkys don't have to cut any costs, they're rich, they're cutting costs because they want to. Therefore fans supporting them in doing so are supporting the further destruction of the club as a choice made by a bunch of idiots. Getting rid of Rhodes wouldn't improve us, its a cost-cutting (aka Venkys revenue generating) measure. Ditto with Pedersen. In my opinion last year has been misinterpreted by a very large percentage of our support. For months I've been at pains to highlight the fact that we picked up enough points under Kean, Black and Bowyer to finish in the play-offs if extrapolated over a season. There's 2 names responsible for us finishing where we did last season, and neither of them are players. The players were excellent at times under proper direction, they stuffed Forest at home in a game that Olsson, Murphy, Rochina and Pedersen all featured in. Difference between that and this season? Players with ability.

And the luck we had in the Forest gameI seem to remember our first goal was along the lines of one of their defenders, at some distance from their goals, hitting the ball against Rochina, and it remarkably ending up in their nets; an unexpected goal out of nothing.
