Nicko has said today that Orr still has 3 years left on his contract. signed a new contract last summer. So if we were payed him off it would cost us around 3 million pound.

why was he given a new contract last summer?

Nicko is full of ****, not saying the Orr story isn't true, but Nicko enjoys causing a stir, keep that in mind.

Murphy went to Leeds cos they offer him better wages than we did.

Bannan wasnt signed due to his agent wanted high fee and Bannan wanted more money from us than he was on at villa. I see no else has even look to sign him so far.

both of these things were reported on here at the time.

exactly chaddy

bowyer wanted one or the other, somebody said no.we have no dosh to match anybody. bowyer should have been told we only have 50p earlier in the talks. IMO

Nobody said to Bowyer No IMO, We offer Murphy good wages but Leeds offer him better wages and then did the deal very quickly.

Bannan's agent want a massive amount of agent fee(500k) and Rovers/Bowyer said no to him. I think the days are over when we are going to paid stupid amount of wages and agent's fees for players and rightly so NOW! plus Makey11 said at the time that Bannan lifestyle might be a problem aswell. worth noting that nobody else has look to sign him. I wonder why?

Also think Bowyer is looking for players with the right character who will fit into his plans and what he expect from the players on and off the field. This is like any normal business is that you want to hire Staff that will fit his the workforce team and has the skills for the team you have got.

I don't believe the Bannan story at all, the agent stuff, bottom line is if he wanted to sign he would have, the agent would have been told to get real by the player.

As for Murphy, watched him Yesterday, looks a player, missed out their big time.

The quandary re MGP is, if he plays again, i understand he gets a half mil bonus, legacy of JW. The rest of his contract rolls on as per.

Knowing MGPs current capabilities and our financial position generally, if you were in charge of the purse strings, what would you do?......

Proof?

He's played 96 times since signing that deal, why would 97 trigger a bonus? Thats why i think its not true.

hopefully this summer we have a proper wage budget in place and NOT over paying for average players.

last summer transfer business was wrong with us signing players who wasn't suited to this league. Kean and Shebby to blame. Cant blame the owners for the signings but can for listen to those two.

This season, the owners seems to allow Bowyer to be in complete charge of signings without any interfere from anybody else. Plus we seem to have a wage budget in place now.

hopefully we are now going to be run properly with proper budget in place and no interfere from Shebby or anybody else. But now a long way back for us to reach the Premier League again.

I wouldn't play Givet. Givet doesn't look interest anymore and has to leave. plus has a bad attitude aswell

I heard this aswell. I would let Pedersen leave on free transfer. He isn't suited to playing in Centre Midfield at this level.

The fact is we have to be save money where we can and Stop handing out daft contract to average players who shouldn't be on the money we are paying for certain players

nicko said......oh aw reet then

Still looking Chaddy? I have read that he's brought in 11 players so far. That right?

With the huge squad of under performing nonentities that we have, we needed to reduce the numbers and improve the quality.

why would Bannan upset his agent?? He wouldnt

Plus Gav both Kamy and Makey11 said it was down Bannan's agent asking for stupid fee. i trust them to tell the truth. check back through this forum and you will see what they said.

Agree about Bannan and the Murphy thing is what really irks supporters.

The seemingly apparent lack of nous / strategy is staggering.

For midfield, we have signed Taylor, Marrow, Judge, Cairney and Evans. If we had signed two less then we could have given Murphy the small extra financial that would have swung it. Instead, we have Taylor, Marrow and Judge who all look like journeymen or worse, Cairney who looked impressive at Carlisle but seemed to bomb at Donny and Evans who I haven't seen so can't pass judgement.

It just all smacks of a shambles and I dread to think where we are heading - it certainly isn't upwards.

I respect both posters, but I'm afraid if I wanted to move to Blackburn I'd make sure it went through, simple as that.

The agent works for me, and if he doesn't like it I get another one, more to this story than agents fees IMO.

Orrs' contract runs out next summer. If he has signed a new one or an extension it hasn't been registered with the league.

Of course it's a shambles. It had been since they arrived.

There has to be something untoward going on with the ownership.

This will be confirmed when they bugger off next summer as soon as they have their hands on the last parachute ament.

Just been looking at a couple of Leeds MB, they don't seem overly impressed with Luke Murphy one poster gave 5 out of 10 yesterday, another said

that was a little harsh and hopefully he'll improve.

But most seem to think they have'nt solved their main problem which is the same one we have, lack of creativity.

Time will tell if we missed out on a good un.

GAV, I don't know what line of work your in but would you leave your current job and take a pay cut to go elsewhere? Of course not.

Bannan is heading into the prime of his career and needs to maximise as much money as he can. We have to remind that although rovers is our passion, to footballers it is their job and a short career. Most players move for money. Simple as that.

I've not been impressed with what I've seen of Murphy at Leeds so far. What if we caved in to bannan`s wage demands and agent fee and he flopped? Would be another expensive mistake and more money wasted on a so called prem player.

We took a gamble and gave players big contracts. It's back fired as we didn't get promoted and now we are being hamstrung by that mistake this season.

We are not financially screwed. We have players on big wages and long contracts who are not playing or in Bowyers plans. We need to get rid of them but it's going to cost venkys a lot of money. Their own fault but also why we've been more cautious with contracts this year.

Hope the purse strings are loosened once we've got these players off the books. That won't be until next summer at least.

To be fair, if you were an up and coming player looking to make a big move why would you sign for the pathetic excuse for a club that we have become. Doubt it is just about money. Shows how bad we are if Bates's Leeds are seen as a better option by a young player.

Of course they would if the money is good.

Leeds probably offered him 5k more a week. Of course he'd choose them.

Signing fewer players and being in a position to offer better terms would not have guaranteed Murphy signing for us.

Didn't Maji around that time say a lot of people in the football industry are wary of getting involved with us because of all that has gone on since Venky's bought us?

I had the leeds game on yesterday, Murphy seemed a pretty average all rounder, championship midfielder(what id give for 1 of those at rovers!)

Is Bannan still at Villa, if so I can see him coming in on loan if nobody takes him by the end of the transfer window.

TBH, We tried for Murphy before we signed Marrow, Cairney and Evans in all fairness but he chose Leeds.

Can't see what we did wrong as far as Murphy was concerned tbh.

We agreed personal terms, he went away to think about it, someone came in with more money.

Don't know anything about Bannan but no-one else seems to be beating the door down to sign him.

Thankfully this site is just a very small percentage of the popular support, and doesn't really reflect what most fans feel.

David Dunn is held in high regard by many due to being a 'local lad done good' which simply some people can't handle, I'm not sure its a jealousy thing TBH, but its along those lines. Yes he's made mistakes, yes he could have looked after himself better, but even after all this he's made 350 appearances for the club and thats tremendous for a local lad.

MGP has a similar record to Dunn, has been a great servant to the club, and the club should look after him, they gave him the contract, honour it or pay him off.

Spot on Gav. If we had a few more local lads that had the same amount of passion then I am sure we would be in better shape. Regardless of the football, the least we would expect and get is 110% commitment. This is why we frequently outperformed in the mid /late 80's with the likes of Faz, Barker, Patterson etc

Isn't that what bowyer has tried to do? Brought in Marrow and Judge who were part of the youth set up. Also bringing through youth players such as o`Sullivan and Morris. Add that to Jake kean and grant Hanley who are in the team.

That's quite a lot of players who have come through the academy and therefore likely to have more affection for the club than your average player.

Out of those 3 you've mentioned I think only Patterson was a local lad.
