Those I mentioned above plus Tashor was frequently good value as was Cheshire Blue.

He had the political intellect of a pygmy but as far as post match football perception, comment and analysis was concerned Scotty was as good as it gets.

Scotty's still around a bit (even posted a few times recently), puts moving his seat (sometime moving it as far as Altrincham ;) ) down as to why despite my nagging him he wont do match reviews any more (I really rate ParsonBlue's, but two brilliant reports are better than one). We did however get him on the podcast earlier on this year.

I guess i didn't pay much attention judging by the responses above. I always quite admired his stand point towards the more fickle posters. Especially around silly season. I think maybe i also liked him because he locked horns with Tony Gales Mic and i thought that bloke was an absolute tool. Mind you, he was another one who wasn't short in the intelligence department. I just hated the way he was totally dismissive of anyone who didn't agree with him. I always found that DGS was open minded enough to see other peoples point of view even if he didn't agree with it.

Reb, would be great if he came back.

Nicko, things got lively but had a lot of fun with the 11 O'clockers.

I don't remember when I first found the site (97 at the latest) but remember being on the old mailing list, I think I have a couple of e-mails stored still. Posted mostly on the Norwegian forums for a while but rarely do nowadays, football is best discussed over a pint :)

chesh was aw reet for a snob

Abbey was loved by me for his eloquent use of the English language and tact.

All that said, I have been in exile from football forreasons of the Punish variety and fear of the virulent left.

Its working its really working

How's life Reb?

Life is as good as a cheerful episode of Game of Thrones.

I fear looking at what has gone down recently in the football world; I have lived in a bubble of literature purely from the distant past without the distraction of inflated bladders being propelled by men.

Oooh, I got my first email response back and it was from the person I thought was probably least likely to respond! I'm not saying who, as he's not sure yet, but certainly one that surprised me (and not just because he had a working aol address ;) )

chatrooms are sooooooo 1990, but I do have a plan to bring in something that serves the same purpose this season.

Thats me told then. I'll keep my gob shut in future.

On old members, I agree with Abbey, Cool Claret was really good fun, especially when she went on suicide watch for us when results went against us for any length of time. :-)

Rev's not as prolific as he was, which is a shame.

And is it about time that EwoodPork returned....? :-P

Tact is my middle name as you know

surely TACT would be your middle name? ;)

I don't particularly follow football anymore, it's too rigged & I refuse to give any money to venkeys. Which means boycotting all matches.

Also I'm more into cycling, cricket & rugby, they're more fun, less financially rigged & the players are considerably more likeable

Could I just point out at this stage that Mark Atkins is in his mid forties now B&WA. :)

I'm not too far from the big 4-0 end of life crisis too ;)

Though I don't really think 40's is in the old dodderers bracket yet. I was more referring to those who are really really old. So old dust falls off them when they move. More like Jim ;)

Tony Gale's Mic was a top-class poster, first-rate intellect (the in-word apparently), knew his football and on the right (left) side of the political fence. Fell victim to the thought police I believe.

Jan ..she traumatised me .

Ditto. I forgot about her. I used to have a couple of debates with her in my younger days posting on here. She was rather repulsed at the behaviour of Rovers fans in Salzburg I seem to recall!

I'm sure she was a Celtic fan and perhaps following Rovers was a flash in the pan? I stand to be corrected though and fair play to her if she still goes Rovers

Not how I remember it at all tbh  TGM & DGS were two sides of the same coin IMO. Different views but the same type of dismissive and bullying posting style. Had a lot of time for both regardless of that though as they were very good at expressing their views if nothing else, and a strong writing style makes for a good read.

I thought Tony Gales Mic returned under a different name.........isn't he Batman..........or have I got the wrong end of the stick again? :/

TGM did return under the name SydneyRover(I think?) then he was banned again. No idea why though.

Batman was Shillito15 ;)

I liked him too, even though he was crazy left and brutal with labeling.

Politics is crazy, like religion, it can destroy all civil conversation.

Its also funny that the left and the right on here think there are thought police, I felt that it was the very same directed at me,

She only followed Rovers because of the Dalglish-Celtic connection. Disappeared since we fell on hard times.

Ah! Reb and Flopsy! Welcome back, hope you're both well. Quality stuff already Reb.

Who (else) do I miss? Most of em to be honest. More tolerance required from posters (including me) and less leniency from the Mods (recognised as not easy) may well help persuade some of these guys to come back on board, unless they've all fallen out with the game.

You also need to speak to NuclearSox Glenn - he's surely your man for next years monthly reviews?

Anyway this is wildly off topic. Circa 01 or 02. It was either GAV or SteB's fault. I can't remember to be honest. Think I was looking for RoversMad at the time. Oh well, bit late now.

(Edited years - lost a decade there somewhere!)

We can certainly do less leniency Bob but it won't always be as popular as you think as some more well liked posters may end up going down with the annoying newbies!

I'm in honesty a newcomer to the forum myself only joined five and a bit years ago as explained in the other thread I offered to help out on the modding side of things a couple of years back because I had just had a nipper and was up at silly times of the night and it seemed at that time during the night there was a lot of spam posts about Viagra and the like, that's been clamped down on now (not before Abbey procured a shipload of it :P) but I just stuck around

I've met some good people and shared some good experiences with people on this forum I sit just in front of stuwilky and a bit behind Tris and Claire and think its a real shame that they don't post nearly as frequently anymore
