Apparently he's a few options (not just rovers and yourselves). It wouldn't be the first time someone has been on trial and not signed mind.

No I agree, trialists often sign elsewhere for one reason or another. It was just the claims we had signed him but were delaying the announcement for 'a funny reason, nothing sinister' - I think it more likely that he is using us to help his fitness whilst he weighs up his options

The delay could just be that his Wigan contract is not up till end of July so options will remain until then in case a ahem....bigger club should come in at the last min :) For what it's worth i wanted Rovers to sign him as he'll turn out to be a decent player over the course of a season at this level. A bit frustrating at times as he seems to want to turn every ball onto his good foot before making a simple pass and appears to needlessly tie himself in knots at times but apart from that plenty of effort and a eye for goal.

2 goals in 12 is an eye for goal?

It's like saying I have an eye for winning on the lottery

I meant in my opinion i reckon he will contribute 8/10 goals over the course of a season, not bad for a one peg midfielder.

You however do have an eye when to add a sh#te reply to a post, as usual !

Bigger - or just not worried about FFP or bankrupting their club ^_^

Still not prolific?

And don't be precious and throw a tiz when someone disagrees with your hyperbole ;)

If you win 1 in every 6 lottery draws, I'd say that was pretty prolific.. Also, what numbers do you use? :P

I won a tenner twice in 5 years so I suppose if the standard for prolific is set so low then yes I suppose I am. :D

You were the one who brought prolific into it but just for you i will re state my comment as "an eye for the odd goal". There you go, now no need for you to go looking up big words like 'hyperbole' to add in reply eh! :) :) :)

B&W I believe when it is said an eye for goal it means he had more shots on target that the opposition keeper has had to make superb saves to keep him out I certainly remember one when that fouling dirty player Shittu came in 2 footed he escaped & Forde had to make a superb one handed save to claw it out of the top corner I reckon players like Shittu should be sectioned one of the most dirtiest players I have ever seen in the championship.

If only there was a "hold my hands up" smiley or a "I'll get my coat" smiley :/

In a quick "ahem, time to backtrack and sweep that under the carpet" stylee Jordan Rhodes has an eye for goal. A 2 in 12 midfielder has an eye for "thumping it in the direction of the goal with all joints crossed in sheer hope" ;)

How come Longsiders1882 ?

I'm just not convinced anything is signed. Perhaps it was finances and maybe if Austin goes (strong rumours linking him with another move, possibly Forest but nothing certain - Nixon tweeting again about him) it will happen but the longer these things drag on the less likely we are to sign him - other clubs will start looking more seriously at him as other options they were working on don't pan out - e.g. your loan move for Spearing that looks like it may have gone sour?

My view on Austin's potential move (for what it's worth, and my Burnley supporting mates seem to agree) is that you're waiting to sell Austin then using that money to fund your summer transfers. Of course I could well be wrong!!

Jones was thoroughly average for us anyway. He played well in his debut, well - better than the absolute shambles before he came on, apart from that though I can't remember thinking he was the midfield general we need whilst watching a game.

Pretty much what we are all thinking - I think the only people more gutted about the last minute breakdown in the deal was the board.

I may be wrong but in some cases I believe when a player is released from a club, he gets a fee from his previous club if he doesn't sign for another club before the 1st August.

It does sound a bit preposterous I know, however I'm sure this was the case with Matt Upson signing for someone a few years ago. So maybe that is why he hasn't signed for anyone yet?
