Guest Norbert Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Root should take the place of someone like Bairstow if Carberry starts. No point having two wicket keepers in the team when neither are Gilchrist with the bat. Quote

somersetrover Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Put Stokes in at 6, he a good batsman and bowler and he will relish a challenge like an ashes series and excel in it. Quote

somersetrover Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 As for Australia surely Chadd Sayers has bowled his way into the side for Brisbane, but no doubt instead of giving a call up to state's cricket best bowler last season and the man who has just bowled his team to a fantastic shield victory CA will go back to Mitchell Johnson who has never and will never be good enough for test cricket and bowled poorly in the same game as Sayers at the W.A.C.A. Quote
Guest Norbert Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Johnson is too erratic. Like Harmison, he's only brilliant on really fast, hard pitches that allow you to bully the batsman. However, he's not as good as Harmison. And the barmy army will work their magic on his confidence. Quote
SouthAussieRover Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Agreed. Heard only 4 days more prep for England before 1st test. Enough time? Plenty of time.Australia are in disarray. Quote
Guest Norbert Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Is it really that bad? If it is, I'm surprised as before 2005, Australia were a machine, running smoothly on and off the field for years. Quote
neekoy Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Overcast with a bit of a breeze fro Thursday, looking out the windows looks like it should be a nice day. Expect some swing in first three days, unfortunately that is all I think you will get as thunderstorms are forecast from Sunday. Quote
dave birch Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Neekoy, in all my days in Australia, I've never understood why they have the first test in Brisbane. It's generally wet in November/December. Should put the first Test in Darwin, followed a week later by Hobart. Quote

For my part I've never understood why we have the Football World Cup in extreme tempeartures. USA / Italy / Mexico etc made little sense but Qatar just takes the bloody biscuit! Quote
Simon Says Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Prediction time. Expecting a tough series, but I still think England will prevail. Don't expect Australia to win a test. 2-0 England. Quote

And not because some briefcases full of money have exchanged hands of course Quote
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 I'll be glad when we get started. I'm sick to death of reading all the @#/? being pumped out by the Aussie press. Talk about whinging poms, this lot are the Worlds worst losers. They're bloody awful winners as well. Quote

Tyrone Shoelaces Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 They've been " cheating " in cricket since before W G Grace. Even the sainted Bradman was known to stand his ground when he'd knicked one. The standard of sporting journalism in Aus must be really kean if it's worse than ours. Quote
thenodrog Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 No surprise is it Tyrone..... they didn't get there in the first place by being fine upstanding citizens did they? Quote
jim mk2 Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Pathetic journalism. And Australia as a country needs to grow up. Quote
pg Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Pathetic journalism. And Australia as a country needs to grow up. Well its from a Murdoch tabloid Jim. You'd know all about that I'm sure. Quote
pg Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 FFS the last time Broad played in Australia he played two matches and took two wickets at an average of 80.50. I don't mind losing to Swann and Anderson, but this is really taking the p*** Quote
Simon Says Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Excellent first day for England. The rock breakers baiting of Stuart Broad seems to have worked a treat. Quote
Kamy100 Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Great first day for England, we need to get the last 2 wickets as soon as possible tomorrow and then see if we can press home the advantage by producing a solid batting display. Well done to Broad and thank you to the Brisbane Hearld, your front page was all the motivation that he needed. Quote
FGS5635 Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Very good 1st day, but a chance missed with the aussies reelin at 132-6 ?? Quote

Hobart?Start in Perth then Adelaide..on to Melbourne..skip Sydney then head to Brisbane and back south to Hobart Edited November 21, 2013 by SouthAussieRover Quote
Kamy100 Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Very good 1st day, but a chance missed with the aussies reelin at 132-6 ?? Possibly but it does looks like a very good batting pitch so it looks like a par score on that pitch is close to 400. Quote
somersetrover Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 (edited) Both sides will be happy with that first day, England will be frustrated that they let Australia off the at 132-6. Australia will be annoyed that all of the top six got themselves out to poor shots instead off getting out to good bowling, however they will know that any score of around 300 is a good score and puts you firmly in the test match.
