ABBEY Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 (edited) Very good bowling display by Anderson, Board and Finn. I think Lyth is trying to be far too attacking. Poor dismissal. Bell played very well until he played a Stupid shot to Lyth Get behind them and stop slating them ! Edited July 29, 2015 by ABBEY Quote

chaddyrovers Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Hopefully we can get over 450 and over 300 runs lead in the game. Then we need to take another 10 wickets to win the game. Quote
Mattyblue Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Listening to Chris Rogers last night, he reckons the pitch will crack more and more as the game wears on, so we defintely don't want to be chasing much 4th innings. Put the game to bed today lads! Quote
ABBEY Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 450 chaddy ? Joe root as good as he is but Christ what a stupid @#/? selection Quote
onlyonejackwalker Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Shot selection an issue here on both sides. Lyth, Bell and Root all got themselves out. Time to give Lyth a breather and although he got a good ball no suprise to me that Bairstow failed again at this level. Quote
thenodrog Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Burnley Express might have just been derailed for Trent Bridge! Quote
Baz Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Great day after a few scary overs to begin with, but I feel really sorry with those with tickets for Saturday who wont see anything, those going tomorrow may only see an hours play too. Quote
chaddyrovers Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Finn's bowling yesterday was top class and back to the old Steven Finn. Quote
Mattyblue Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Almost a two day Test! I am enjoying the crash, bang, wallop approach to this (and the NZ series), I doubt Warwickshire's Cheif Exec is though! Quote
Gav Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 I will Gav - cheers. Shame you can't make it. Staying over in a premier inn thursday night as well. I believe there's a weatherspoons nearby! Good few days for me, cricket tomorrow, aerobatics last Saturday What a fantastic days cricket, whilst £90 was steep you certainly got value for money yesterday, I know Tris went also. Lets hope we get these polished off in the next hour or so and on to Trent Bridge, minus Anderson, but leading 2-1 Quote
matt83 Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 So 121 to win. In 1981 at Edgbaston Australia needed 151 to win and we got them out for 121. Botham finished with 5/11. Let's hope it's not roles reversed today. Quote
Rover_Shaun Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 (edited) Whilst it's great to see England thumping the Aussies I can't help feel a little sorry for Edgbaston. They wait 6 years for an ashes test after spending hundreds of thousands on ground improvements and it's all over with inside 3 days and they lose all the money they have budgeted for on the Saturday and Sunday. I assume they have insurance policies or the ECB cover some of it? Edited July 31, 2015 by Rover_Shaun 1 Quote

Husky Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 (edited) Great series between England and NZ, The Ashes swinging both ways. Lancashire cruising to promotion from Division 2 and also Qualifying for the T20 Quarter Finals....and back to winning ways in the Royal London 50 over comp. I wish the cricket season could continue through Autumn and WInter too as with Middlesborough being the heights to which Rovers can not hope to climb the football season is sure going to be a turgid and depressing affair. Great win today, I'm stunned to be honest, I thought we'd lose the series 5-0 as we showed no form whatsoever in the lead up to this series. Interesting stat today, in the last 9 tests England have wlwlwlwlw - so the next is a loss, but we'll see. Quote
chaddyrovers Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Good performance by England. Bell back in form. Finn's bowling was superb. Let's go and win the next test. Will Australia make changes? Clarke out of form, Voges struggling? Stark not bowling well enough? Haddin to come back in? I would bring in Mark Wood for James Anderson now he is out of the next test match Quote
onlyonejackwalker Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Brilliant from England, well done that groundsman. Shame about Anderson, could just gave been pushing hard, but bowling round the wicket and trying to avoid running down the track on follow through puts a lot of stress on fast bowlers. Was not worried about our bowling even after the 2nd test. Matches don't last 5 days unless you can bat and that is were we are weakest. Lyth, Bairstow, Butler and Stokes frighten me to death and changes need making even though we won. Lyth needs shooting (figure of speech) let alone dropping after playing hugely irresponsible shots and Bairstow is already proven technically deficient at this level. Good performance by England. Bell back in form. Finn's bowling was superb. Let's go and win the next test. Will Australia make changes? Clarke out of form, Voges struggling? Stark not bowling well enough? Haddin to come back in? I would bring in Mark Wood for James Anderson now he is out of the next test match Finns bowling was superb Chaddy. Credit to the lad after being described as unselectable by Giles in 2013. He's worked hard at his technique and his successful return helps minimise the loss of Anderson to a degree. Quote
Baz Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Finn was laughing at the crowd chants of " Steven Finn is un-selectable"... Got a great reception. Shame we allowed them to get 121 ahead as it gives them a little bit more to take out of the game, however pleasd that those who had tickets today got to see a fair bit more action than they probably feared at 5:30 yesterday. Quote
onlyonejackwalker Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Glad it lasted a bit longer to be honest. Good for the ground, crowd and players like Bell with his red inker. What has happened to Test cricket? I think Bell hit five fours in his first 8 deliveries then was dropped at slip. 20 from 8? Wtf. Playing with fire. Some of the shot selection on both sides has been disgraceful. Heads should roll. It's like they've forgotten the need to bat for long periods, take the shine off the ball, tire the bowlers, occupy the crease and build an innings. Lyth and Bairstow out. Ali up the order to 6. Stokes and Butler move down one. Quote
chaddyrovers Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Plunkett and Footitt added to the England squad. Footitt is a left arm fast bowler. I thought that Chris Woakes will be call up to the squad to replace Anderson Quote
