Test match special can be a bit stuck up, some of the comments from Agnew and Co irritate at times but its so much better than talksport. This test match is the first time that I have been listening to talksport cricket coverage and completely agree, it is awful. Some of it is cringeworthy. TMS is in a different league. Just got to stay patient, keep bowling the right line and length, hopefully the wickets will come. Quote

Kamy100 Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 South Africa doing well and we seem to be running out of ideas and some concerns about Jimmy's fitness. A few baffling fields set by Root in last session with players seemingly in running saving position's when there is no threat of them getting close to the target. Big final session coming up. Quote
jim mk2 Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 Tough for England to take 5 wickets in final session. SA showing how to save a Test match. Question marks again over Root's captaincy. Quote

Kamy100 Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 I think that it has been a decent test pitch, maybe got a bit too slow on day 5 but if you bowl in the right consistently you will get wickets. We haven't quite been able to do that consistently today. Root's is not a very tactically aware captain, he field placings not the best, particularly to spinners. Quote

Stokes has bowl magnificent so far in this spell. Quote
Kamy100 Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 One more wicket. Come on boys but Rabada isn't a rabbit, he can bat. Quote
Husky Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 Sky nearly cut the feed just before the final wicket. Phew! Quote
chaddyrovers Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 Good in there. England have delivered. The England fans there in Cape Town have been fantastic and what a great support Quote
Kamy100 Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 Absolutely brilliant. Stokes is unbelievable. Special test match. A superb advert for why the 4 day test match idea is bonkers. 1 Quote
AllRoverAsia Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 The pitch held together but lost its pace, replaced by some varying bounce. A lot of good performances by England. This match was a great tonic for 5 day Test cricket. True cricket. It also made for rivetting TV so a win, win, win. 2 Quote

He forced that result through sheer guts, strength and determination - something Jofra Archer should take on board. Edited January 7, 2020 by den 4 Quote
oldjamfan1 Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 Ben Stokes’ performance in every aspect of the game was unbelievable, and in some ways surpassed his Headingley innings, given that he produced excellence with bat, ball and in the field this time. Immense! 4 Quote
jim mk2 Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 Well played England against a weak South Africa side. Anything other than a 3-1 win would be sub-par. England have been blessed with some brilliant all-rounders over the years. Who is best - Botham, Flintoff or Stokes? Quote
chaddyrovers Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 Over confidence yet again Jim.. South Africa are decent side. Don't forget we don't if Anderson will be fit. Plus we have 4 inexperience test batsman players within our top 6 now in Crawley, Sibley, Denly and Pope. Quote
