oldjamfan1 Posted July 9, 2020 Posted July 9, 2020 Don't want to jinx Joss or Ben but these are the two guys you would want batting to get yourselves out of a hole. Quote

Riversider28 Posted July 9, 2020 Posted July 9, 2020 (edited) I went out for a haircut with us 5 wickets down. I’ve just got back and we are 158-8. Good job I didn’t have a wash and blow dry as well or it could be all over. Well bowled Holder. Edited July 9, 2020 by Riversider28 Quote
oldjamfan1 Posted July 9, 2020 Posted July 9, 2020 Jimmy will want to be bowling asap in these conditions surely? Quote
matt83 Posted July 9, 2020 Posted July 9, 2020 Fair play to holder. On the face of it there’s not a lot too him but his stats as an all-rounder for the last 18 months or so are incredible 1 Quote
matt83 Posted July 9, 2020 Posted July 9, 2020 Useful runs at the end. I’m going to be uncharacteristically optimistic and say we’ll have too much for their batting line-up. 1 Quote

Can't argue with that matt - 200 seems about a par score to me but the way that ball was swinging at times if we pitch it up we could run through this lot quite quickly. Quote
Ewood Ace Posted July 9, 2020 Posted July 9, 2020 204 a decent score. Be surprised if this West Indies batting line up get past that particularly in these conditions. Quote
AllRoverAsia Posted July 9, 2020 Posted July 9, 2020 (edited) Maybe Rovers players will get some ideas on effective hairbands. Players can't give caps or sweaters to the Umpire so Wood is wearing Jimmys cap whilst Jimmy bowls. OK, there's a logic in there somewhere no doubt ......... I'd rather listen to anybody than Ebony. How can she possibly comment on Men's international Cricket? She's doing ok on hair guidance Edited July 9, 2020 by AllRoverAsia Quote
Riversider28 Posted July 9, 2020 Posted July 9, 2020 The players have had enough time to get their hair powed (my grandads Lanky expression). I suppose I could have bought myself a hair band instead of having it cut earlier. I wonder if they realise how daft they look? Team players of all sports are just like sheep, trying to outdo each other. Quote

gumboots Posted July 10, 2020 Posted July 10, 2020 Phil Tufnell said hed have bowled first. Alastair Cook said overhead conditions make less difference at the Aegeas Bowl than at most grounds and you should look at the surface and hed have batted first. So who knows? Is the decision to leave Broad out going to come back to bite us? I'm not convinced Archer yet has the discipline and experience to be our second main strike bowler. Quote

In terms of future planning, playing Broad and Anderson together in this mini series would be the equivalent of playing Mulgrew, Graham and Downing in the last 4 games of this season for Rovers. Oh wait...... Quote

But unless keep playing Archer he never going to get that discipline and experience. I might have left wood out for Broad in this test considering the next test wicket should have more pace and bounce in it. Would suit Wood more imo Quote
jim mk2 Posted July 10, 2020 Posted July 10, 2020 West Indies building a lead only 5 wickets down. This is not a good effort by England.. Quote
Riversider28 Posted July 10, 2020 Posted July 10, 2020 Just back from a day’s fishing, so only just watching the last half hour of play. England 103 behind, so a lot to do tomorrow to hopefully get a decent score and make a game of it. Quote

Oh wait...... I dont object to Archer playing, but the time to get experience is not necessarily in the first match of the series. I think we needed to win this one, and we may still do so. I would just have hated to be the one to tell Broad he wasnt playing. 1 Quote
AllRoverAsia Posted July 11, 2020 Posted July 11, 2020 (edited) That was a classic piece of play and commentary, picnics, Nasser foot in mouth, no ball wicket and Sibley deathwish and all in 6 balls FFS back to Angel cake and Tea. I appeal to Sky to sort this crap out Edited July 11, 2020 by AllRoverAsia Quote

Riversider28 Posted July 12, 2020 Posted July 12, 2020 Interesting finale to the First Test. Windies require 200 to win and are currently 7-1 after 6 overs and opener Campbell retired hurt. This could go either way. Quote
47er Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 WI 23 for 3 before lunch! This could be one hell of a result! Quote
darrenrover Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 WIndies needing 148 with 3 wickets remaining. Should be a good first win. Quote
