Husky Posted January 14, 2019 Posted January 14, 2019 Just what have those naughty Indian players been saying? 2 sent home from the Australian tour and suspended for 'sexist comments'. Now facing misconduct charges. It must have been pretty bad, surely? Quote

Rogerb Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 England 49-7 after 21 overs disgraceful. Jennings top score with 17 Quote
Husky Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 Jennings.... from zero to relative hero. ? Quote

AllRoverAsia Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 I wonder what the other words were? https://www.bbc.com/sport/cricket/46980881 Quote
AllRoverAsia Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 All set up for a heroic 2nd innings by England. One can but hope after that 1st innings shite. Quote
matt83 Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 Having never seen England lose home or away it’ll take a miracle here to keep that intact. Quote
matt83 Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 I do wonder sometimes what the locals make of a load of thirsty Englishmen. Take this bloke who presumably soberly at some stage thought I’m off to the cricket today where’s my Freddy Mercury mask, yellow jacket and inflatable microphone. den Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 Looks like Jos Buttler is going to have score the majority of the 400+ runs we need on his own now. Quote
matt83 Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 The most worrying thing long term is in the first innings we couldn’t cope with slightly extra pace and bounce (again). This innings we can’t cope with a spinner who doesn’t spin it. Quote
Husky Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 No surprise to see wide ball Jennings has been dropped along with Rashid (seriously what a ridiculous choice for the first test). Denly and Leach in. Quote

Shame - and he’s by no means the first left handed opener to have this problem - because he does look a classy player at times. Quote

A player who scores a lot of runs at Championship level but finds converting starts to good scores in tests beyond him. Could be good news for Lancashire though. Would we have stayed up with Jennings having a full season? Quote
matt83 Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 Not sure Denly is the answer but Jennings certainly isn’t. Get him back to Lancs. Might go with broad for Deidre instead of the extra spinner. Think denly is a part time spinner as well so probably no real need Ali, leach, root and denly. Especially as their equivalent of root took 8 wickets. Still stunned by that. Considering pace did for us in the first innings (horses for courses and that) shame olly stone got injured. Sadly the only other quick who comes to mind is the perennially injured mark wood. Well until the ecb change the residency rules for Jofra archer. Quote
Rogerb Posted January 31, 2019 Posted January 31, 2019 Denley out for 6 to a borderline embarrassing shot having escaped an lbw on 0 Quote
den Posted January 31, 2019 Posted January 31, 2019 To be fair this is a wicket made for the windies quickies. Quote
den Posted January 31, 2019 Posted January 31, 2019 Root out to a ball rearing off a length. England will be lucky to get to 100 here. 34/3 Quote
Husky Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 Jos Butler is West Indies man of the series so far. Quote
matt83 Posted February 2, 2019 Posted February 2, 2019 77, 246, 187 and 132 is pretty pathetic series. Another feeble performance. Bravo lasted 216 balls our number 3 has a massive swipe and misses a straight ball. Can’t adapt in any circumstance in real cricket. So irritating. Quote

matt83 Posted February 2, 2019 Posted February 2, 2019 Not one positive from this. Our batsmen look like they only know how to slog, not a defensive shot between them. So Ramprakash as the batting coach needs relieving of his duties. Clearly as good a coach as he was a test batsman. I appreciate Bayliss is leaving after the summer anyway but he’s probably taken England as far as he can. Suppose when the ECB continuously undermine county cricket in favour of McCricket this is what we end up producing. Sri Lanka probably papered over huge cracks. Quote
