matt83 Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 It’s the hope that kills. We’ve done our best to bottle this. Luckiest 4 well 6 ever. Still in it but just can’t see England winning a super over. Quote
matt83 Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 Stokes and buttler surely. Unless root wants to block 6 Quote

Husky Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 Fuck me! That was the best final there's ever been ever right? In the history of any sport? I'm on pills for my nerves. Quote
matt83 Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 Thought we’d bottled it about 10 times. Including with that 6 with 3 balls to go. 1 Quote

matt83 Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 Dry you bloody eyes lads. I bet they weren’t saying that after the 3rd lions test. Quote
matt83 Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 Shot of the tournament. That bunt for 2 that ricocheted for 6. As for that Carney “happy to share it.” Piss off the rules are the rules. Would rather lose than share it. It’s not bloody masterchef. 1 Quote
matt83 Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 Now we’ve won and it’s not making excuses once again Lords produces a pitch that favours the opposition. A cricket tradition in itself. If English cricket ever becomes a pure results business Lords should be taken off the circuit. Quote

A cricket tradition in itself. If English cricket ever becomes a pure results business Lords should be taken off the circuit. The pitch was a disgrace for a 50 overs World Cup final. Same as in football poor pitches are great levellers and today couldn’t been more even. However what a fantastic game. From our batting from the first over we never looked quite good enough to win it but massive credit to Stokes and Buttler in particular, we never lied down. Football has its nerve biters but not in the way cricket can give you so much stress for so long. This is a superb English one day team, possibly the best we’ll see for a long time. Got to feel sorry for NZ. They were superb. They fought with the bat every bit as hard as England and I thought their bowling was brilliant. Easy to say the ricochet from Stokes won it for us but cricket is a game of very fine margins and in the end we won it and NZ lost it by the bat being probably two feet short of the crease when everything else had levelled out. brilliant game. Claytons Left Boot Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 Never really been in to cricket although I have been to Old Trafford v the Aussies in the Botham era. What a game though today. I was a bag of nerves during the last hour and a half. When Stokes got lucky with the ricochet, I said it was fate. Well done England and a great advert for the sport. 1 Quote
Backroom Mike E Posted July 14, 2019 Backroom Posted July 14, 2019 I'm not a fan of cricket, but I don't understand how 241/8 and 241 all out is a tie? Is it because the number of players out is irrelevant with equal runs over 50 overs? Would've thought the fewer players out would count for something, not that I'm that bothered ofc... Quote
AAK Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 Rovers fan, Jos Butler took the wicket to win England the world cup, very fitting. 2 Quote
