It was an absolute road of a pitch - very glad he got the runs but if hadn’t have he’d need shooting. Particularly for someone in the “big 4” He was badly out of form and very low confidence. For me you are being very over cricital Pitch is dead. Result is a draw now even with 2 days of play left. Quote

I know he's only 3 innings in. But Sibley hasn't looked great so far. . . . . Once upon a time 2 games would be all you'd get, then back to the club game. Quote

England picked the best 2 county openers in terms of form and runs in Sibley and Crawley. Look at when Vaughan and Trescothick. Hardly set the world on fire but performed excellent in their time as Enlgand players Quote
Husky Posted December 3, 2019 Posted December 3, 2019 So in the end the 2nd test will be remembered for the worst drop (Denly) in world cricket ever. Quote

chaddyrovers Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 REST IN PEACE MR WILLIS. Im in total shock he passed away. 4 Quote
gumboots Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 I'm in agreement with you fof once, Chaddy. I just read the news out to my husband and we were both shocked. Not my favourite pundit but a great player, and no age really. RIP Quote
oldjamfan1 Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 (edited) Yeah RIP Bob Willis. He’s only been ill for a wee while and as gumboots says, 70 is no age these days. Edited December 4, 2019 by oldjamfan1 Quote
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted December 4, 2019 Moderation Lead Posted December 4, 2019 Very sad news indeed. Exceptional cricketer and enjoyed him on TV as well. Quote

Proudtobeblue&white Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 I grew up watching Bob Willis on the BBC, playing for England in his pomp. Headingley was awesome. I mimicked his run, and "style". One of a kind. Loved his wry humour. Obviously well thought of. RIP, and thoughts with your family. Quote
Husky Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 He'd never looked too healthy, and statistically tall people don't live to be a great age, but this was certainly unexpected. There won't be any point in watching The Verdict ever again now. R.I.P. Bob Dylan. And R.I.P. the Verdict. 3 Quote
AllRoverAsia Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 RIP Bob Wilis. An England Cricket true Legend. Quote
chaddyrovers Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 Dom Bess and Craig Overton called up for South Africa tour Quote
matt83 Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 I know the selectors hands have been tied a bit with illness but Overton is very average. Just falling back on another line and length trundler to join Curran and woakes. Not sure why saqib was taken out to New Zealand, arguably wasn’t ready for test cricket, but he does offer something different. As for the spinners it’s just a merry go round is it Ali, is it Bess, is it leech, is it Parky, who knows. Quote
chaddyrovers Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 I would say that Leech is the best spin bowler. Parkinson is good at county level but unsure if is test quality. Agree on Overton but isn't Olly Stone still injured. I would imagine the test side will be this Burns Sibley Denly Root Stokes Pope Buttler Archer Leach Broad Anderson Quote
matt83 Posted December 27, 2019 Posted December 27, 2019 Philander will have this lad for breakfast I’d have thought. Just stick on the fifth stump outside off. Quote
matt83 Posted December 27, 2019 Posted December 27, 2019 Full and straight does for Bairstow. As ever. Quote

Husky Posted December 27, 2019 Posted December 27, 2019 What would Bob Willis say about this crap? ? Quote
Rogerb Posted December 27, 2019 Posted December 27, 2019 Yet another England collapse 7-39 there is not one player who can regularly bat all day in this side it's all about the instant gratification of t20 and God forbid the hundred these days bah humbug Quote
Husky Posted December 28, 2019 Posted December 28, 2019 Archer is like the new Devon Malcolm. Fast, capable of devastation yet ultimately a bit all over the place and generally crap at batting. Quote
