Blundell and Mitchell showing how to play Test cricket - careful and cautious to start with, play themselves in and then start to play their shots as the bowlers get tired and the ball softens. An excellent partnership that is likely to condemn England to defeat

Parkinson has bowled himself out of the England Test team for some time. Another "spinner" just not good enough.

Mitchell and Blundell played very well on a flat pitch which is doing nothing at all. Not spinning either.

England bowlers kept going.

Thought Matt Parkinson done well on a pitch showing no sign of spin.

The game is very much in the balance for me and England have a new ball after 1 over of play tomorrow. Day 3 looks like another batting day

Stokes reverting to the classic Root / Silverwood tactics of bowling short to a five man leg side field.

Stokes had 6 man on the leg side.

England are perfectly capable of pulling out a batting disaster on a flat, slow pitch which also shows little sign of much spin.

Add in the good Kiwi bowlers and this will be over sometime Sunday ..... unless the Kiwis just bat on to get the practice they missed out on pre tour.

4 in a row Lancs win again . Exciting finish

And not exactly in an orthodox manner 😂 That last over was bonkers!
Tim David is an excellent signing. Hope we can tie him down for a few years.

A promising start by England in their second innings was undone by Lees completely losing his bearings due to him needlessly moving crease positions.

Now Crawley goes to a good ball by Jamieson. 32-2. Game definitely on.

A target of 277 with a day and a half to play should be a walk in the park for any team who can bat…………oh but this is England!

Bairstow gives his wicket away again, thinking he’s still at the IPL. Last chance saloon now with Root and Stokes batting. The batting coach needs to start earning his salary pdq.

Bairstow getting bowled through the gate. AGAIN. He’s fucking shite at test match cricket. He must average less than 5 vs the straight ball. Same with Crawley nicking off wafty drives.

England trying their best to finish it by the end of the 3rd day.

Same old one-days shots. Same old technical problems, same old failings, if McCallum wasn't hired as the superfans claim to correct the technical flaws, then England will continue to struggle.

Root and Stokes have steadied the ship and played well. There's an hour till stumps, can they take the match to day 4?

Stokes out playing……a one day shot…..spot on Jim, awful shot and probably lost us the test.

Missed most of today's cricket but watched the 90 mins of play.

England need another 61 runs.

Root and Stokes played very well and put us in this position.

Will watch highlights after Platinum Party at the Palace on BBC 1

61 needed with 5 wickets left.

I “think” Parky is batting at 8. Doesn’t say much for 9,10 and 11.

Root and Foakes need to get us within 10 runs I reckon.

Come on England.

Surprised the game is on with the reported weather conditions but its starts on time.

Interesting New Zealand team was late to the ground cos they expected a delay start
