It's a gamble - it might pay off, but equally it might not. The thing is, at 393-8 you've a chance to take the score beyond 450 and more or less make the game safe. As it stands, the other lot will feel they can now get 100 or more runs ahead and put England under considerable pressure.

To me, it was a reckless and unnecessary decision. But we'll see. If England win the match it will be vindicated.

The whole concept of Bazball is a bit of a gamble.

So far it has (on the whole) paid off but there will be occasions when it goes completely ‘tits up’

Let’s just hope that doesn’t happen against this lot…

I wouldn’t call it reckless as we did only have 2 wickets left.

I guess we’ll have a better idea later on today…

One was Root though? Farm the strike and all that.

Oh I wouldn’t have declared but I wouldn’t call it reckless either.

Anyway - Warner has gone 😀😀😀😀

Reckless and unnecessary, as Jim said. Still, one wicket down, let's hope for the best!

It’s a 5 day test Gav!

The game has been played the same way for over 100yrs, it’s about time the mould was broken and here we have England doing just that, leading the world once again.

The traditionalist won’t like it, personally I love it.

Come on England 🏏

It’s worked against everyone - so far…

New Zealand?-we drew the series. We lost the 2nd test by one run after dominating the game.

Don't get me wrong, I'm really enjoying how we play these days. By contrast Australia seem staid and boring. I'm just saying that sometimes you have to to use some common sense and be adaptable.

I’d forgotten about the 2nd New Zealand test 🫣

Agree wholeheartedly with your second paragraph.

I wonder how long Australia’s ego will allow them to be the ‘boring and old fashioned’ ones…

For "loathe" read "lost"!

England have bowled very well this morning. They are trying to play attacking positive cricket and keep fans entertain. Stokes and McCullum promise this when they took over and they have been true to their word

Bairstow's catch was superb.

Smith's reaction was good to see.

How difficult is it to keep your foot behind the line…

Disappointing wilsden, same with the missed stumping.
