If he's in for his runs mainly then he shouldn't be the WK should he? Its a specialist position and the best WK should always play.

If he'd taken the chances he missed then his worth to the team would have been x times greater than the runs he scored.

It's the equivalent of a goalkeeper who is not great on shots and crosses, but gets picked because his distribution is good. 🤔

On the game, in general would we have lost had we not declared. I'd be fairly sure no.

Could we have still won had we not declared. Potentially yes.

The declaration was wrong and led to defeat.

Add in a really big innings or a few of them from Head and bigger contributions from the likes of Warner, Green and Carey.

I posted earlier they bat deep and yesterday Boland, Cummins and Lyon proved it.

A little noted flaw of Bazzball is that a high RPO whilst losing wickets in a 5 day Test still leaves time for those teams scoring slower to get over the finishing line and win. The flaw is accentuated if on occasion our fielding is below par.

The Aussies are world champs for a reason.

I think that brief period on Sunday when it was pitch black,and we lost a couple of wickets was very important. The umpires were pretty poor in not checking the light until it rained again. However if Australia were batting I'd probably say tough luck and laugh.

Either way, Bazball is making test cricket exciting with the super aggressive approach, and may keep the format going.

Robinson's a twerp. He was at it again in the papers today, describing the other lot's method of play as "meek", as if the only way to win games is with Bazball. Silly quotes have a habit of coming back to bite players - I don't know why they do it.

I tend not to go to deeply into the politics at Lancs on here, but there are plenty of them!

Unfortunately, there are a good few examples of our homegrown players hitting a ceiling and then regressing.

You would have to question the standard of coaching, especially with regards to batting and spin bowling.

Chilton has been interviewed by Radio Lancs today, and he basically said they were hedging their bets with Parkinson to see how he performed until season’s end, (out of contract).

In the meantime, Kent have come along and offered him a contract, and you can’t blame him for taking it.

Lamb has been a good one day / T20 player and had very few chances in four day cricket.

I feel he should’ve been involved in the T20 campaign this season, especially with injuries to key bowlers.

Again, you can’t blame him for moving on.

The members are restless.

I’d have Danny lamb in our t20 team any day of the week. I’m not too worried about lamb going generally though, it’s just when the likes of lamb and Parkinson were playing all formats last year we challenged on three fronts. When the new breed - a lot of non-homegrown players - are playing this season, we’re floundering.

Hameed, Davies and Parkinson is too much homegrown talent to lose across a three-four year period. Plus Clark a bit before as well. Players leaving yet Jones stays and stays and stays.

As a side note in recent years lancs have proved they just cant cope with a crowd. Hope I’m wrong but I suspect the ashes will be a disaster in organisation. The main issue is 95% of their focus goes to the 5% in the point (even in there the food at lunch won’t be served before they’re out playing again), the hotels and pavilion.

I’ll wager getting in will be a faff, there won’t be anywhere near enough toilets wherever you sit, the bars/food outlets will be chaos and they’ll also cock up getting people out.

Hardly anyone here this evening and they’re crumbling at the bar, or at least the one nearest the hotel.
