Gav Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Great performance tonight, still a few issues in the field and some of NZ batting was poor, but tonight sets up for the Aussies, can't wait! Quote

roverzee Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 I hope they get royally stuffed by both Australia and New Zealand. If that makes me a traitor to my own country so be it. Oh well. Your only hope for the rest of the summer is an Ashes win for Australia. I'm not sure how you can live with that, but it's your problem. Of course you'll be tuning in to BT Sport 1 tomorrow night at 11pm, for your hero KP's St Lucia Zouks against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots ... won't you?? Quote

Do you ever actually post anything else? My summer is great. Playing golf and watching Lancashire. Be careful you don't get square eyes sitting at home watching England cricket on TV. I shall be in the open air enjoying the summer. 1 Quote
broadsword Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 Lancs are playing down the road from me in the 50 over competition, just booked my ticket now, looking forward to it 1 Quote

You not been up to Bash yet Al? Still not managed to get up there myself, keep having something on when they're at home! Quote

He was last year as I recall, he did live next door to a mate of mine (Coleridge Drive), I think his son is playing for Bash though. Quote
broadsword Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 (edited) Good old Ian Austin, I remember him! Back in the good old days of Lancs being one day kings. Akram, De Freitas, Fairbrother, Mendis, Graeme Fowler, Paul Allott. The good old days. Austin was a quality bowler and a handy lower order batsman, but I don't think he'd ever get on the cover of Men's Health. I once met Wasim Akram after a day at an England test at the Oval. He was extremely polite, which must have been an effort because I was just so incredibly drunk. That might have been the time I drank 18 cans of 1664 and fell down an Underground escalator. The memory is a little hazy. Who remembers this? Edited June 24, 2015 by broadsword 4 Quote
Husky Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 I made the comparison between boring pedestrian England and Rovers some time ago...........Then look what happens when the shackles come off - One of the best one day series ever - besting the World Cup Finalists with all manner of records being beaten. Then nicely finished off with boshing them in the T20. In County cricket - Lancashire are coasting to the division 2 title with Blackburn Rovers fan Alex Davies notably upping his game this year. My first taste of live cricket watching this year will be the T20 Roses battle next Friday - we've (Lancs) been pretty hit and miss so far but are still in with a shout of qualifying for the QF after tonight's win. Hopefully McCullum won't get off to a flyer in the other Sky game this Friday. Quote
matt83 Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 Big game tonight for lancs as far as domestic t20 goes . For all we have clawed our way into 4th if yarkshire/Northants/notts below win and Lancs lose could finish the day in 7th but if lancs win and Leicestershire lose could finish the day in 2nd. But as most teams have a game in hand on us it's a "must win". Fingers crossed mccullum doesn't get going and Faulkner puts another shift in. Quote
Gav Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 Good win for Lancs last night at Durham, I know they'd lost a couple on the bounce but its still a good win, hopefully we'll follow that up against Brum tonight. Quote
matt83 Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 We've dug a big hole for ourselves after those defeats last week but it tends to be the way we do it in t20. Start well, implode, rip up the plan, start again with an amended line up, recover and more often than not into the quarters. We're not a million miles away and as we've still got to play this seasons best teams worcs (1st), bham (2nd) twice, Leicestershire (3rd), yarkshire and notts it's in our own hands. Quote
chaddyrovers Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Rashid is named in the England squad for the 1st test 1 Quote
Al Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Can't see Rashid getting into the team unless it's a real spinners wicket. Now we will see how good the England batting line up is facing the Australian bowlers. Quote

Now we will see how good the England batting line up is facing the Australian bowlers. I'm really looking forward to the series Al but I'm worried it'll be a tad embarrassing to be honest. The recent NZ series was fantastic to watch, but the Aussies are a different beast, wish we had KP but that's history now, let's hope Stokes can be the new Freddy, then we might have s chance. Quote
den Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Anderson was saying that the new "positivity" would be taken forwards to the tests. Hope so because positive teams/individuals win everything. Just hope someone's told Cook. Quote

gumboots Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Can be expensive but buys wickets. Off to OT tomorrow for T 20. Happy whatever the result. Love it when Yorkshire win - loved their trouncing of Durham this week - but have an OT season ticket so will take a lancs win too. Just hope it's a good close match and we get it in before the rain comes back tomorrow night Quote

matt83 Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 I could never take any consolation from Yarkshite winning tonight. To me they are the cricket equivalent of Burnley. Without the all consuming visceral hatred of course. Just a mild disliking. In these very very lean years for rovers bouncing around the western terrace last month celebrating a lancs win was my best live sporting moment since venkys came into town like a bloody torbnado 2 Quote
Al Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 Rashid would be my first choice spinner. our most attacking spinner in England I take your point but Moheen Ali is the man in possession and has proved to be a stylish batsman too. Rashid is an unknown quantity at test level and unless you are going to drop a specialised batsman and play two spinners I can't see a place for Rashid especially in the first test against Australia. Moheen has done nothing wrong to deserve to be dropped. 1 Quote
Gav Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 Whilst not as good as Moheen, Rashids no mug with the bat and he'll only improve by playing. But as Al says I don't see a place for Rashid in the current setup unless we play on a turning wicket. He should have played in West Indies, that was the series to test him out at this level. Quote
gumboots Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 See you there then Gumboots.Stand C. For this one you'll have to sit in the one you have tickets for I reckon. And matt83, I was born and brought up in the north riding. Yorkshire are my home team. Quote
den Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 Stand C for me as well - unreserved seating. Total sell out. My first T20 too. Quote
