The abuse ( I did not refer to it as a chant ) was directed at Best( who received a lot of stick for his performance ) from a person in the row behind me . It was along the lines of he's f ****** S*** because he's been fasting for Ramadan . This comment was thought to be funny by several others nearby who laughed heartily .

If I'd of heard that I'd of probably laughed meself, do you forget the songs our whole crowd sing about burnley when we play them, even at the youth cup game last year at turd moor, a 17 year old dingle player down injured infront of the rovers end of about 1500 fans got abused to death with the whole of our end singing to him 'number 2 shags his mum' repeated every time he had the ball. Thats morderm day fans for you. Majority of the crowd these days are all in their 20s mainly an if you can't listen to the odd dirty chant or bad language your best staying at home !

I remember there being a Facebook group called, "Blackburn - We live there, so you don't have to," a few years ago. Very apt.

Witnessed some pretty moronic racism at away games I've been to in the past couple of years. Won't make the same mistake again when back in the UK. Home games in the higher reaches of the JW seem a no-brainer, really. For me at least.

We could discuss the various forms of abuse, and how to define them, until the end of time but the point I am making - along with several other posters- is that I don't want to listen to it . The point that it has gone on since I started watching football (1963 ) is irrelevant as well as untrue . For a start the use of the F word was not used in collective chanting in the 1960s . I remember my dad being totally shocked by Everton fans chanting b***** off in the mid 60s . I remember the disbelief when Kenneth Tynan used the F word for the first time on television in 1965 ( the word was not used again on tv until 1973 .) Its not just the words I object to but the aggressive loud, angry, humourless way they are delivered . Many people now think it is acceptable to be loud angry and abusive if anything doesn't suit them . It is not restricted to football but it flourishes there because nothing is done about it . Anyone screaming you're a f****** useless c*** Murray would be thrown out of Wimbledon . I heard similar comments at Spotland directed at Rovers players from their own fans .

I have complained in the past . Without going into details I told a fan in the Darwen End 2 years ago not to come again on his way out . He pushed his face into mine and made a drunken (if not very scary threat ). On anther occasion I reported an incident to police and was told that they had been instructed to ignore certain behaviour because it was hard to control . I wrote to the Club and to be fair to them, the ground safety officer and the crowd control officer met me to discuss the matter . Basically though nothing is done about crowd behaviour because Blackburn Rovers and most other clubs will accept virtually any supporters who come through the gates .

I was stood right at the back and was part of the vocal lot so to speak. I am in no way rascist and never have been.

The ramadan mention wasnt aimed at no blackburn rovers player it was in jest at a friend of ours who has decided to grow a beard and we (not maliciously) mentioned he had grown it cos he was fasting for ramadam. There was 3 asian lads stood literally right behind me and they found it funny i asked them if i offended them and they said no and actually joined in the mickey taking.

ALSO, i was the person who started the hes got a bad back song which actually went down a treat cos the game wasnt at all entertaining.

If there was a chant and it wasnt by us i offer my apologies however nothing was intended to offend any1 in person.

Unreserved apologies if it was your comments I heard .

My biggest problem with what the OP describes is abuse to our own players. Away games have always had issues with drunkeness and a certain level of anti-social behaviour, thats just how they are. But whats changed for me in recent years is the younger generation coming through with this bitter, aggressive attitude towards our own players. I consider it to be an absolute disgrace personally. Whatever happened to loyalty, support and encouragement? Its been replaced by an attitude of victimisation, abuse and hostility. Fans used to have a go at the ref or opposition if they wanted to vent, but it was done at sporadic periods throughout the game. Nowadays you don't hear anything from some idiots in the ground unless its to abuse their favourite target in our team.

I think, without trying to offend here, spiderpig maybe stuck in the past a little bit. You mention the first time "@#/?" was used in TV etc. Times have moved on, as has culture and in turn what is considered to be offensive. Realistically nowadays I hear swear words more often used to describe things rather than to offend (ie It's @#/?). While you, and I, and anyone else, may not like this, this is how the world is at the moment. Quite honestly I think the majority of rovers fans are quite well behaved. In modern times, if Kean had been at a Millwall, or even worse Boca Juniors/Feyenoord he would have honestly been putting his life in danger, I think Rovers fans where very reserved considering. While racism towards anyone is never ever acceptable, if songs are being sang with swearing in I truthfully suggest you move to a different section of the stand, as I don't think it will change for a long while yet.

May I ask what the Ramadan related chant was? So I can draw my own conclusion on that please.

I have deleted the comments on Ramadan . They may have been misheard or misleading

There definitely were a few at the back that weren't the sharpest and were the most vocal.

Very whingey and irritating when they weren't singing.

I got a bit of a laugh from my mates after one of the moronic few berated Scott Dann- I just said 'Why does he expect greatness from Scott Dann? Has he seen him play before?'

It's good to see you're dabbling with racism and homophobia now. It'll make a change from chanting obscene sexual insults at young lads playing a kids game.*

All good banter though, eh?.

* I'm fully aware of the racist, s**t-brained morons who follow us too.

This is more of a generic rant than specific to this instance as I think in this case it seems there has been some misinterpretation.

The point is that it is unfortunate but there is always going to be this kind of repulsion generated among supporters by supporters because this is what happens when different people with different social skills, backgrounds and opinions get together seeking sometimes different things too.

Some go to sit down, shut up and watch the game whilst others might go because its a good day out and not care if they wake up in the morning with a sore throat and don't remember a thing, although in either instance this shouldn't excuse racism or homophobia but it goes on and is a fact of life.

I think the problem is usually with regards to the young group of embarrassing boys on their first trip out with their mates. Unfortunately at this stage they are a product of their environment. Blackburn and the surrounding areas are densely deprived and extremely segregated. As such you're going to get a mob of young, uneducated lads experiencing their first away day experiences and generally behaving like what they are, a mob of @#/?.

In a few years they'll have grown up and it will be school classes under them doing the same. Of course there's always the few numpties who never grow up and these are the ones who need tackling. On the whole, until integration (with regards to racism) and generally better education this is going to be an inevitable cycle within the Culture surrounding Ewood Park but times move on and things change so who knows.

Nice sentiment, but where have you been for the last 50 years?

Having seen the Blackburn End hurl bunches of bananas at opposition goalkeepers, Rovers fans throwing coins into away supporters, Rovers fans lying in wait for opposition fans, Rovers fans targetting and destroying opposition pubs, racist and homeophobic chanting and behaviour, crowd unrest and violence countless times over the years, I cannot agree that the current classless, moronic element with their repetitive, insulting and boring chants are any worse than years gone by. I wonder when the normal decency and rules you allude to ever applied at football matches?

Your kids won't suddenly turn into the louts you describe by going to the football and will still abide by and respect your parental rules and guidance. Sadly, they will hear similar or worse on the school playground.

I realise that I am one of just a few remaining Rovers fans that are old enough to remember what things were like on the terraces of virtually every football ground in the years from the re-commencement of League Football after WW2. However I am, and I can assure you in all honesty and without any exaggeration at all that from my first attendance in 1946 to some time in or about 1970 I NEVER EVER heard any sort of obscenity shouted out loud by anyone of any age. And given that in those days you could stand absolutely anywhere you liked on the open terraces (which I did) I can honestly assure you that when I first heard a group of young men sounding off on the open terrace just beneath the Riverside stand, I could scarcely believe my own ears. So much so that I immediately sought out the nearest Police Officer and complained, and they came with me and moved these guys on.....whether out of the ground or just somewhere else I don't know, but moved they certainly were.

Sadly this proved to be just the beginning of a rapid deterioration, and is the main reason why I now will only sit in the JW Upper Stand.....at least up there they are still civilised and you can safely take young kids.

Of which you've always had more than us and some of your lot, even the older one's seem to think that's something to be proud of.

As for the Jordan Rhodes song, are younger fans will no doubt sing that on coaches an at away games because there all probably on the Charlie themselves. If there not being racist or saying sick things about rape or any stuff like that then everyone just needs to chill out n stop moaning, if you've got kids with use at the match an are worrying about what they hear getting sang,no doubt they'll be doing the same watching rovers in their 20s one day !

The atmosphere and chanting is one of the main reasons I go to football matches.

Aggressive behaviour, chanting, drinking, abuse is nothing new at football and very very very tame at rovers compared to when been in with away fans with mates of other clubs so I think people are being a bit precious and if I'm honest.

Can you imagine the scoffing and laughing of other fans at the suggestion rovers fans think our own fans are being too rowdy.

After watching the friendly at Rochdale on Saturday I have decided never to attend an away fixture again . I was disgusted and embarrassed by the behaviour of an element of Rovers' supporters - in fact after 15 minutes I asked a steward to escort me to a different part of the ground - it was either that or leave .In almost 50 years watching our team I have seen standards fall to an unacceptable level .These gross individuals seem to think that normal rules of decency and respect don't apply if you are at a football match . Aggressive vulgar abuse ( directed at our own players !) is not something I want to listen to . Shout and swear and all you want in your own home or out of earshot of decent people .

We have a problem with these aggressive vulgar idiots - to me worse than anything caused by the present owners , recent managers or overpaid players . Do you want your children or grandchildren to attend Ewood Park in the future if it is populated by loud , aggressive morons . Think about it .

Well that will teach you.

Don't you have anything better to do than go the Spotland on a beautiful summers day to watch Rochdale V Blackburn in a friendly.

A sad sign of the times I'm afraid to say.Cocky arrogant youths with NO respect for anyone or anything,a challenge to their behaviour is more than likely to be answered with a fist from 20 of their ilk.

We were all young and daft once but now more than ever you see the 'attitude' in the schools the streets and even the work place.

Anyway, that's the analysis of the fans behaviour at Rochdale. Now onto Preston......

Seriously though, I didn't hear anything too bad other than the constant slating of our players. Whilst I'm not a fan of Lowe or Best & they did nothing to change my opinion on Saturday, the fans that boo & shout abuse at them don't really help. I've no issue showing your disappointment at full time but during the game, support is what the team needs.

Let's get behind the boys, support the manager & together we "may" achieve. Just look at Hull!

Salzburg was worst I've seen rovers fans. Running battles at the side of the river and some shocking chants on the bus back from the game.

These problems at Rochdale just sound like the ignorant youth of east lancashire, that can only afford local games. Hence the problems at bolton, wigan etc. Our future...

Standard practise for English teams abroad, particularly when the local nutters are always out in force when there are visitors from these shores. I'd love to know what they chant about us !
