Some of use sound like crying boring old men who should try watching cricket instead of football matches. Coming on here moaning isnt guna change fans getting @#/? up before games (especially away) an standing up through out the game singing swearing an pushing it to the limit in terms of behaviour, surprised we havnt started using flares yet, everyone else does, Infact I'm guna start taking them to away games n start setting them off every time Rhodes scores. JORDAN RHODES IS HAVING A PARTY..........

I'll be first to note down your seat number.

I look forward to your court case and ban. I have been watching Rovers for 65 years and now you are saying I should not attend. I have far more right than you do and it is fine in the JW upper. Incidentally I watch cricket too.

Although I agree fully with your point, I completely disagree with the bit in bold.

Length of 'service' does not give you one more iota of rights than somebody who's been a fan for 2 years.

There is no tier of fandom, we are all equal irrespective of circumstances.

On topic, The Rhodes chant is beyond cringeworthy and racism in any form has no place in football. We're in 2013, not 1960.

Blimey, bit harsh!

Just a quick slap would do the job, not full blown....interrigation.

JK89 - watch out for bars of soap being dropped around your seat...

Disagree. Long service has to count for something.

Should always respect fellow fans of your own team and stick together though, it used to be an unwritten code. Rovers fans hate each other these days as well as half their own team. I'd love a time machine and be able to send some of our 'youth' back in time to the late 80's, say Boro away on that Boxing day or a trip to Elland Road/ Maine Road etc. No old bill and lines of stewards to hide behind then, flares were the least of anyones worries lol

That boro game was madness and city away I got a proper kicking , twice in 10 minutes. Leeds away , walking under the tunnel with no police was a bit brown undies. Some of the chants we sung in the 80's makes me wonder if this board would crash in a time warp situation. God knows what the fusiliers song would invoke .

Footballs always been same on my lifetime. Like pulling your scarf I'm 2 miles before reaching an away destination and not wearing colours.

The midern day fan eats to many prawn sarnies instead of bovril and a prater pie.

And if someone could explain the shittu is a pedo chant I'd love to hear it.

What about a big dollop of 'good for you' topped with 'big deal'? ;)

Al it's not the first time you've thumped the 'i'm a bigger fan than you' tub. It kind of flies in the face of the fact that you are supposed to be a seasoned and mature adult.

Those that go, those that can't, those that don't, those that swear, Those that haven't been since 1966. We all want what is best for the club and none of us want to see it slip into that big black hole on the horizon.

I don't remember any time I have said that before and if I am not a better fan than that hooligan it's time I stopped going and if I am not a better SUPPORTER than those who do not attend I will plait sawdust.

If you pay your money, you have the right to behave like you want an sing what you want as long as its not racism which I'd never lower myself to do, I'm in my mid 20s an I'm not prepared to sit down all game when were away to please a few old blokes I. The crowd, il get drunk before the game n sing my head off in an appropriate way, if people like us are too loud for you then tough s**t

As for the Jordan Rhodes song, are younger fans will no doubt sing that on coaches an at away games because there all probably on the Charlie themselves. If there not being racist or saying sick things about rape or any stuff like that then everyone just needs to chill out n stop moaning, if you've got kids with use at the match an are worrying about what they hear getting sang,no doubt they'll be doing the same watching rovers in their 20s one day !

The best thing about these threads are that you always find out who the cretins are..

the replies to jk89 are very damning and should give him food for thought. he is representative of the new kind of selfish attitude that invades all aspects of society nowadays.

rather than confront his own behaviour, he seeks to force anyone other than his own type to abandon their support of their beloved team by inviting them to stop going.

a reflective, decent character of any age would consider the views of the posters above and have a think about the bigger picture.

sadly, jk89 will do no such thing.

I wasn't refering to hooliganism but the general "superfan' claptrap.

Oh well it seems in the land of the blinkered all supporters are equal but some are more equal than others.

So let me get this straight:

This is a thread about negative chanting and offensive chanting heard from certain fans (and through further posts we see that in most cases people believe it to be younger fans).

From that a 'younger fan' comes on and gives his opinion. This winds up an 'older fan', who in turn threatens to put the 'younger fan' in hospital? Your all as bad as each other.

I'll be honest I'd rather absolute silence than the 'atmosphere' created when the darwen end had to move to the blackburn end last season, some of the songs included insulting our own fans and homophobic abuse at our own players doesn't constitute a laugh for me personally

Not to say everyone in there is bad but that was embarrassing

Fair dos and on that specific point I would 100% agree with you. But on the whole the majority are judging the 'younger ones' all the same, I'm 22 and have watched Rovers all my life and have followed us away properly for the last 6 seasons, does that mean the rest of you categorise me as you do every other young lad/girl that watches Rovers? Away games are always better than homes, the reason? The atmosphere. It's plain to see by certain posters (and this is my first day) why Ewoods such a library these days, people slated for singing at football... HOW DARE WE! Just because I like going to away games, drinking before during and after, singing, going mental when we score, having a good day regardless of result means I'm a waster and a cretin? Hahaha get over yourselves, comments like 'I wouldn't let my kids sit next to you' are absolutely ridiculous as are 'I'm a bigger fan than you' you're a pensioner with nothing better to do than moan at 'the young' for wanting to have a good day out. I agree there's a line that doesn't need to be crossed and it rarely is from my experiences with Rovers, everyone is entitled to enjoy the parts of football that they like, just because you don't enjoy what others do doesn't make what they enjoy wrong!

** (Tom-M.. The majority of that wasn't aimed at you or your post at all, kinda went off on a tangent!)

JK89's lack of tolerance for others is breathtaking.

It's bravado and bullshit mate I wouldn't take it seriously

My view is an atmosphere certainly is needed and football is a good place to vent and have some fun at the same time but common courtesy costs nothing but seems lacking

The difference over time is fairly obvious. When it was standing at away grounds, if you didn't like being near the people next to you then you could just move. With the introduction of all seater stadium you are now stuck with whoever is around you.

Having said that it has been predominantly all seater stadium for the last 20 years and I don't recall as much in-fighting between Rovers fans as there is now at the local away games. A number of the current crop of 'teens to early 20's' following the club seem to like nothing better that to turn on their fellow fan should he disagree with them.

Thing is drinking before ,during and after , swearing , obscene chants and falling out is no different than when we were kids.

Agree about the darwen end lads when they come in BBE they have super fan attitude . Worst we did back in 'day was riverside give us a song.
