Don't like losing but it was an enjoyable viewing experience (on "tv" - score was 2-2 about 60 minutes gone). Fitness and work ethic look better - passing and movement pretty good and Eastwood looked (during the 60 minutes that i saw) to be a decent backup keeper. King - similar to rochina 2 years ago in my opinion. Has the speed and the skill but needs to learn how to use it effectively and improve his passing/crossing. Could become good or disappear back to a scandinavian club.

I am torn between the need to see these players playing together in a competitive match and the desire to win - always a tough balance but wouldn't be a talking point IF we had won...

Ps. Didn't see Dunn's penalty but (in my memory) he misses more than he scores from the spot... Ds.

Rovers are a better team now than they have been for some time, what some are failing to remember is two simple facts from last nights game, which are 1) we were down to ten men and 2) Carlisle, irrespective of being a league one team played a very good game as well. I see a lot of negativity about a few of our younger players i.e. King, don`t know what match the detractors were watching but in the match I saw, he totally skinned the opposition and ran the length of the pitch with the ball several times. The guy is really quick. Another thing I did notice is our older school ex prem players were the ones that werent closing down players, playing the long ball, keeping the ball in the sky with aimless headers and having a general malaise about the pitch. Bowyer arguably put out a weaker team last night, but with the size and depth of our squad I can understand the reasoning for not playing a full strength squad and protecting players for the all important league. The ref didn`t help either he was completely @#/?, in one incident when the ball was being passed upfield to Rhodes, I couldn`t believe what I was seeing, the Carlisle fullback had Rhodes in a full bear hug from the back pinning him so that he couldn`t move but didn`t get pulled for it despite being the last defender.

I was referring to threats rather than opinion. Which you seem to hate people giving as I'm not the only poster to be subjected to abuse.

How will I sleep knowing Al has me on ignore? Oh no. I really need the acceptance.

I'm sure you have some comment on the Carlisle game given this is the Carlisle match thread.....what's that I hear? WUM...Keyboard warrior? See the above quote and add hypocrite to the charge list. At least I've put forward my views on us playing an unnecessarily weakened side. Other than having a go at me (your obsession) will you be giving us your views?

Ohhh Ironic indeed old fella. Hilarious :D

I've seen almost 2 seasons of Jason Lowe to make that opinion... So your point being what exactly?

I thought that was obvious but I will spell it out if needs be.

My point being is that you constantly berate Jason Lowe. I think it is unfair but I don't reply to it. It's your opinion and you are entitled to it.

Suddenly somebody else unfairly criticises another player on here and you are really annoyed by it. So much so you wish to discuss matters with said person face to face.

I thought it was rather ironic coming from yourself! You are clearly clearly culpable of the very thing you are accusing another of.

And to bring it back onto topic, I thought Jason Lowe had a cracking game when he came on at half time last night

Dunn never used to miss pens when he was young and fitter. In the days before Souness called him out over his crap lifestyle.

And a lot of good that did......I don't care how much Dunn claims to love the club, his lifestyle says the complete opposite. Any footballer that drinks the amounts that he does, and allows his weight to increase as well will never convince me that he cares about anything other than the massive wages he gets for doing what most of us would crawl over red hot coals for the chance to do.

The players who we needed to play well, played well. Taylor, Cairney and Lowe all looked decent. If it wasn't for King and Cairney's red, we would have won.

For the vast majority of the game it looked like a league 1 team against a Championship team. We controlled the play in the middle of the park well enough and if it wasn't for some stupid defensive mistakes, we would have won comfortably.

Considering most of the team were second choice, I'm really not concerned with the result. Morris, Givet, King, Olsson and Eastwood will be lucky to get much more game time this season.

Really don't care about being out of the cup. The performance overall was alright and it was a very weakened team. If that was a league game, different matter.

King is already suffering from what I think of as the Roberts effect. If as a Rovers player you can do something good, but then you have a tendency of following it up with something bad, you receive far more stick off our fans than if you can't really do much at all.

Roberts would plow through 2 defenders and then scuff it wide (apart from occasionally when he didn't, like the incredible last minute winner away at Bolton). His competition at the time, the likes of Derbyshire, Di Santo and Benjani, simply wouldn't plow through 2 defenders in the first place. Derbyshire looked like a child playing with adults when started for a full 90, Di Santo played the entire time with his back to goal and never once beat a man, and Benjani was just pants. And yet Roberts got by a mile the most stick out of any of them.

Similar situation now with King. He gets it on the halfway line with 1-2 men to beat, a few seconds later he's on the edge of their box and usually wasting a decent chance (except, like Roberts, when he occasionally doesn't). But what does Olsson do with it when he's in centre mid with someone closing him down, what does Judge, or even my mate Pedersen do? They pass it inside to someone like Lowe or Marrow, who then knock it straight back to a centre half.

Its far better to have a player who does something great followed by something **** than a player who 9 times out of 10 takes the conservative option. A player like King is only noticed by the fans to incur their wrath because he's done something promising that gets fans hopes up, the players who rarely do something that can gets fans hopes up are less useful.

And the three goals they scored.

One of which was from King's mistake.

I'm still optimistic about this season. Seeing our second string fall out of the cup on penalties to lower league opposition isn't a big deal in my opinion. I like the way Bowyer is setting us up and the signings he has made look decent. Spurr, Taylor, Judge and Cairney in particular vastly improve the side from where it was last May. I don't think we'll go up automatically but I think we are in with a realistic shot of the play offs.

King is pants. Plain and simple.

Yup. Wouldn't have needed to have been at Carlisle the other night to confirm that.

I don't think there's any comparison at all with Roberts. Give him a difficult chance where he had to act instinctively without thinking and he was fine. Present him with a simple chance or a one on one and he couldn't score to save his life.

But at least Roberts gave his all. From what I've seen of King he has next to zero ability apart from a burst of pace and his attitude is even worse.

King has pace and chest control.

Roberts had work-rate, strength, pace, quality hold-up play, instinctive finishes, important goals and a good attitude.

I've seen Lowe make good long-distance passes before but I can't remember him doing it consistently over a game like last night. Thought he played well when he came on. Would like to see him start on Saturday if Evans isn't fit.

Lol i criticised eastwood thort he was poor although did put in a wonder save but did not look commanding at all

He wasn't helped by a completely unfamiliar defence in front of him to be fair. Thought Givet was terrible and not interested at all, S'ongo seemed a bit too keen to impress, was desperate for a goal, I'm not complaining mind, fair play for his enthusiasm.

THAT save was world class that he pulled off.
