You can't just keep putting novices in charge of football teams and expect wonders to happen. Some of the bull written by people expecting promotion is incredible with clueless owners, a novice in charge, no transfer budget and a personnel policy consisting of bringing in second and third choice loans and freebies. It's tough enough for a new manager, never mind having to deal with all that and the expectation of promotion in his first season. It's crazy when you think about it.

If Bowyer gets sacked, he can't bail us out as caretaker as well.

I know that I'm a pessimistic sod, but I can't shake the feeling that we will be relegated.

Gary Bowyer is a definite improvement on Steve Kean, no matter what the league position was on that glorious day when Kean walked. He has integrity for a start.

But there's a reason he used to be the academy manager. He's not the right personality to manage this group of players. He doesn't have any previous experience as a first-team manager. He seems to be too matey with the players.

The squad of players just isn't strong enough. Quite frankly after the summer we can forget any significant strengthening taking place in January (by which time we may be firmly entrenched in the bottom three). If, as seems likely, Rhodes departs then we'll be in freefall, with the proceeds unlikely to be made available for further squad strengthening.

I may be criticised by the dreamers on here for being reactionary and impatient. But this isn't about 4 games, this is the culmination of the last THREE YEARS.

I can't see any bright points that mitigate what I've said above. I think at best we'll be lower mid-table. But I don't think that will happen. We';ve gotten off to a terrible start, and momentum is everything in this league. So, I think we're down.

I like Gary Bowyer, but we needed a major revamp this season and it just hasn't happened. We've shifted some deadwood but replaced it with absolute dross. Bowyer will find it very, very difficult to do anything with this lot.
