Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted August 31, 2013 Moderation Lead Posted August 31, 2013 Fantastic result! Don't understand all the hate for Mercerman, is it simply because he says 'wee Dougie?' and thinks he is a decent manager? So Many people on here so eager to 'stick it to people' rather than just being happy for us! Have you read his posts? He's touting Rhodes away to similar clubs and talking like a Bolton fan of Freedman and Eddie Davies.
Derbyshire Blue Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Thought we played brilliantly today! Everyone played really well, only negative's I could see was Danns usual poor defending, and Marshall where was he half the time? Didn't see anything good about him, he doesn't seem like a Bowyer type of player at all - just seem to hide away from being involved at all reminded me of a Danny Murphy performance. Hang on, everthing came down the left first half, they didn't go in that direction once, he got frustrated came inside did a fantastic cross then hit the post after a fantastic save, god help me some people
Amo Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Cairney, that lad cn play football. Got everything!! Joy to watch! Damn shame that he's only until January, but trying not to worry about that for now. I'm really liking the way this team is shaping up. As for Mercer - his insufferable love in for 'wee Dougie' and 'Coyley', and his ridiculous scaremongering regarding Rhodes is the reason he's getting a lot of flak today, as well as being an all-round patronizing ass. Why some white knight always feels the need to defend his corner is beyond me. If the guy can't take it, then he shouldn't dish it out.
Neal Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 And people said Josh King is sh*t... WRONG WRONG WRONG.
Backroom DE. Posted August 31, 2013 Backroom Posted August 31, 2013 I would think (and hope) for most people including myself it's all light-hearted banter with Mercer. If anyone considers it more than that you're taking this forum way too seriously.
jonv Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Just love watching a young, hungry team with pace, hunger and a bit of quality up front. Thought Dunn had a great game and shows that even if we get an hour out of him he can be a real asset for us. While our defence looks shaky we're going to scare some teams with that attack. Thought Evans looked tidy in midfield when he came on, Marshall was quiet but his shot onto the post was class and we can expect more from him. praying there isn't disappointment to come in the transfer window. This sums it up for me. Long it continue
perthblue02 Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 And people said Josh King is sh*t... WRONG WRONG WRONG. Perhaps this is one of Bowyer's strong points , dealing with players attitudes, Kings attitude seems to have done a 180 and he seems to be putting effort into his game rather than throwing tantrums. In fact there seems to be a strong team spirit amongst all of them at the moment even the loanees
BigBar Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Delighted with the win...king starting to show a bit of form but lets not get carried away, he should of had at least one today, he roasted them to get into the box in the second half them showed no composure and hit row z! had another effort from further out too that was even further away..enjoyed Cairneys performance and Dunn and Jordan done the biz too...happy tonight, back to back wins, 6 points, 9 goals...that'll do pig...that'll do!!

First game in a new team with hardly any training sessions with his new teammates under his belt. Let's give him a little time before we pass judgement.
blueboy3333 Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 A great win for Bowyer's Babes. It's not often we've beat Notlob at home over the last 20 years. Great credit to Bowyer for building a young team that will hopefully only get better. Did someone once claim 'wee dougie' was a good manager?
chris_h Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 I would think (and hope) for most people including myself it's all light-hearted banter with Mercer. If anyone considers it more than that you're taking this forum way too seriously. it's not 'light hearted banter' when he claims to have reliable sources for his scaremongering and seems to delight in the despair of the last three years. Anyway b0 ll0cks to him, here's to this being the first small step on the long road back.
joey_big_nose Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Wow. We look like a seriously seriously good team now. Not sure I've seen us look this good (albeit at a higher level) since Hughes was here. Gary Bowyer seems he really knows what he is doing tactically and has an eye for a player. Cairney is a different class, Evans oozed quality in the tackle and his goal, Spurr looks very solid. Marshall was average but he needs a few games and then we will see. He also seems to be getting good performances out of players he has inherited. Rhodes looks nowhere near as isolated as he did last season, King sems to have turned a big corner, Lowe has so much more confidence, and Dunn was simply sensational. Championship is a long slog so no need to get too excited but if I was a neutral and watched that I would fancy us to finish in the top six. The only poor performance so far has been Donny away. It's strange as if we hadn't had lunactics running the club who spunked at least 5 million on managers who they then sacked then Boyer would never have got the chance, despite seeming extremely capable. It would be interesting to hear if Allardyce or Hughes ever thought Bowyer could make a first team manager...?

Anyway b0 ll0cks to him, here's to this being the first small step on the long road back. This is Mercerman we're talking about. If you genuinely believe he has good sources and his posts wind you up, as I said, you're taking the forum and certainly him far too seriously anybody who's scared by what he posts only have themselves to blame for being so gullible IMO.
darrenrover Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 First time in years that they will be without our nemesis Davies. But we will still have to endure the mind numbing 'Wanky Wanderers' chant. Hopefully we will have too much for them given their injuries. I would love to beat them by six or seven but in reality I will take a scabby 1-0. Happy days Arbitro. Have you got tonight's Lotto numbers and who do you fancy in St Leger?!

davulsukur Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Absolutely thrilled with the last 2 results. Well done to Gary Bowyer and the lads. More of the same against the Dingles please.
JAL Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Think the players can take a lot of confidence from that performance and more importantly the fans. Rovers played footabll and played Bolton off the park first half but then allowed
darrenrover Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Absolutely thrilled with the last 2 results. Well done to Gary Bowyer and the lads. More of the same against the Dingles please. Nah, up the anti against them!
Backroom Tom Posted August 31, 2013 Backroom Posted August 31, 2013 Great win and a great performance for all apart from maybe 25 minutes we destroyed them, if it wasn't for Kean making another terrible mistake then it would never have been a contest, that Kean error was the only real low point though. If the keepers swapped then it could have been 4-0 by the break. Most of the players were superb especially King and Dunn in the first half, Rhodes also played a perfect lone striker role today
hesfromburn Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Hang on, everthing came down the left first half, they didn't go in that direction once, he got frustrated came inside did a fantastic cross then hit the post after a fantastic save, god help me some people Ok Ok! I will wait to see how he settles into the team, if Bowyer can get such hard working performances out of King I am sure Marshall will settle in just fine. Really glad we beat Bolton by such a margin, we looked excellent in midfield and attack - I cant help but feel it would be a blessing for someone to come in for Dann. Burnley is going to be a huge game with them winning 3 -0 away at derby. Hopefully Dunn will be ok for that game and carry on his form, he is vital for us and has to stay fit while Rochina is out.
Hekla Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Wow even JAL is happy! GB is proving that he knows the right players to sign and that he is developing into a very good manager.

Stuart Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Proper team performance today. Great football at times. For the first time, Bowyer's substitutions were spot on too. Bolton will point to injuries but we are without Rochina, Williamson, Etuhu (ho ho), Orr (he he) Best and Campbell. (Not sure how they would fit in mind). Some excellent performances from Rhodes (my MoM again), King, Cairney, Kane. Cracking finish from Evans. Spurr's long throws are also proving dangerous. Weak link, if there is one, is now Kean I feel. Special mention: Jason Lowe is carving out a little role as the bridge between midfield and defence. He makes a lot of sideways and backward simple passes (hence his stats) but he does help is keep possession. Onwards and upwards. Going to be an interesting game at the Dingledome in a couple of weeks, with both clubs in form.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Let's all hope great performances like this can start to help rebuild our home support..building the confidence on and off the pitch.
