USABlue Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Out for a few months. Bad news for the player and Rovers. That bites, I was really starting to like the lad

thenodrog Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 That bites, I was really starting to like the lad This season it seems that every time we've had a player approaching top form they get injured.
G Somerset Rover Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 This is the most recent thread I could find on BM. Perhaps a little harsh to pick on one player today given that the majority of the team didn't cover themselves in glory, but Marshall was again very, very poor. He seems to have lost a yard of pace, never attempts to beat a man and his goals have well and truly dried up (a penalty asides). Even his crossing and free-kick ability, which were two of his better assets, seem to have well and truly hit the skids. I'd look to move him on in January. He's a player who we could likely get a decent fee for and has flattered to deceive for far too long now. Although he can also play RB, for my money we need a specialist player in that position to challenge Henley.
Backroom DE. Posted December 20, 2015 Backroom Posted December 20, 2015 Seems to have lost his motivation here - he can be great on his day, but those days are becoming less and less. If we can get a decent fee for him, it might be time to move him on and give a chance to somebody else.
chaddyrovers Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 I thought Marshall would be our Key player this season but so far I've been very disappointing with his performances this season maybe it is time to sell him and bring in a winger with pace
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted December 20, 2015 Moderation Lead Posted December 20, 2015 He's great on his day. Unfortunately his days are very infrequent.
frosty Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 He hasn't had one of his days for over a year now. Would sell if the money was right.
Ribble Rover Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 Confidence is a great thing in football. Give PLA chance to get a bit of business done and we could see a much better Marshall with pace ahead of him instead of the statue that is Jordan Rhodes.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 He's great on his day. Unfortunately his days are very infrequent. That was the word when he came from Leicester. Looks like they were right.
McClarky Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 He's been poor for a year now after a great period up to then. Contributes hardly anything.
arbitro Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 His play and demeanour bear all the hallmarks of somebody who is sulking. For several games he has offered very little either offensively or defensively.
AggyBlue Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 His play and demeanour bear all the hallmarks of somebody who is sulking. For several games he has offered very little either offensively or defensively. He looks and plays like he's on the way out. Today he was shocking.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 He looks and plays like he's on the way out. Today he was shocking. " Playing like he's on the way out ". ----- Have these people no pride ? What's beating under the badge ? Anything ? Once you step over that white line you give 100% . You don't need anybody else to tell you that. It's how you've brought up as a player.
Backroom DE. Posted December 20, 2015 Backroom Posted December 20, 2015 I was told by a friend at the Sheff Wed match that Marshall has struggled with depression in the past, and that his confidence can easily be shot to pieces e.g. his fall from grace at Leicester.... Anyone shed any light on this? An interesting post from earlier in this thread - not to speculate but could be a reason for his lacklustre demeanour of late. Obviously hope it's nothing to do with depression and he's just badly out of form.
Pedro Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 His play and demeanour bear all the hallmarks of somebody who is sulking. For several games he has offered very little either offensively or defensively. December 2014 is the last time he has resembled a decent player (apart from when he looked a steady and capable stand in at right back).

Anyone shed any light on this? I've been told he's a @#/? head who shoots off to South Manchester asap to go on the lash. Who knows what the truth is. On his day he is brilliant but he has been poor for 12 months now.
tomphil Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 I don't think Lambert will be as tolerant as Gaz was with this lad. Although to be fair we are all looking to him for some flair but missing the fact he does at least quite often put in a good shift in terms or getting up and down and tracking back.
Commondore Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Bowyer experimented with Marshall in the no. 10 role this pre-season and during the first few competitive games, before putting him back at right wing or even right back. As where still looking for a creative spark in midfield, I still think he could be effective in that role. He's got a good shot, can get past defenders with the ball at his feet, and to me seems like a better passer of the ball than Lawrence. This is of course assuming that Lambert wants to utilize a no. 10 type role (he seems more inclined toward 4-4-2 or a more defensive minded 3-man midfield), but it could also be an effective way of getting Marshall out of his current slump in form.
G Somerset Rover Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 I haven't seen him glide past a defender since December 2014! RB is the only spot where he's not performed terribly this season, IMO.
davulsukur Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Now Bennett has signed, if an offer came in for Marshall, as rumoured interest from clubs previously, Lambert would probably sell. Massive shame Marshall just doesn't play to his best, the lad has talent.
imy9 Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 I'm firmly in Lamberts camp BUT surely he should get Marshall performing to the best of his ability?
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted January 5, 2016 Moderation Lead Posted January 5, 2016 I think you're right Imy, but I don't think Marshall has performed to the best of his ability in some time. When was the last time he assisted a goal? Or scored even?
Pedro Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 I'm firmly in Lamberts camp BUT surely he should get Marshall performing to the best of his ability? Marshall can look a top drawer player - the last time he did though it was 13 months ago. In a better team, with a bigger squad he would have been dropped some time ago. He just seems to lack effort and belief, like someone else said, I can't remember him beating a man in ages.
