I actually think he's just an average workmanlike player who hit a purple patch for a small spell last season. Obviously confidence plays a big part in it with him but I think that little spell made us expect a lot of him when in reality he's another one of those players who only shines when the whole team is playing well.

Even so, he should still get a few goals.

I'm firmly in Lamberts camp BUT surely he should get Marshall performing to the best of his ability?

Marshall is well past the age of being young and inconsistent, Im all for letting someone else try to get the best out of him.

We have far too many players who are inconsistent, we need some more of those 7 out of 10 week in week out players.

At the moment Marshall would be a decent sub. More likely to make an impact than Taylor.

His attitude is bad enough as a first teamer, let alone a substitute. Let another club try to rehabilitate him, right now we need people committed to the cause.

He's not been right for a year now. A real shame as on his day the most talented player we have but we can't keep carrying him. For whatever reason he does look demotivated and lacks confidence. If I had to bet one way or the other I think Lambert will choose to sell him. We might get decent value from the likes of Sheff Wednesday.

It's not just his attitude though. When did he last have a decent effort on target? When did he last beat his man? When did he last whip a decent ball in? He was never Giorgos Donis but where an earth has his pace gone?

As others have said, let him be somebody else's problem. He'd be one of our more saleable assets too and enable us to bring a specialist RB/RW in (whichever role Bennett hasn't been signed for).

Great to see Marshall hitting a bit of form. One thing I've noticed is his head doesn't seem to go down playing the wing back type role. When he's on the wing he tries taking his man on, fails a few times and loses interest, same early on when he was tried in the 'hole'.

Right back he's often belting into space so has time to compose himself rather than trying to beat his man with skill. Emo mark 2 on the cards ? albeit a championship version.

Usually you've facing the play most of the time at right back. That makes it easier to pick a pass.

Me too I was so disappointed in him. Is it me or does he look way fitter, looks to have dropped a little weight too. Perhaps some of the reason for his upturn in form.

One of the things I've noticed in the last couple of months is how visibly frustrated and mad he gets with his teammates when they don't pass to him in open space etc, make mistakes etc. And that is a really good thing to see as far as I'm concerned. He's motivated and he wants to win!
